Just bought a mint 06' LX470, I like to keep my cars mostly stock, but may pull the trigger on one of these units after watching this video. It's nice to see all systems working and without bugs.
REQUEST...could you please provide additional videos as you learn about your new setup? I will definitely follow your channel. I am currently looking for a 2003+ LX470 and when I get one, this will be the first mod! Thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I thought I was doomed with the 06 LX interface. I now see it is possible to add high quality amps and speakers without processing the signals from the ML amp. Please continue to update on long term reliability.
After a year, I'm still very happy with everything. I also added a 12" subwoofer, new front door speakers and 5-channel amp this year, and everything sounds great. Did you get one for yourself?
Hi Elliot, I'm a bit confused as you say you are happy with the product after a year and yet you have removed the link to the product. Why were you ripped off by the supplier ZFNAV if the product is OK and working well? I am looking at upgrading to this style of unit but I am in Australia and I dont have the opportunity to purchase locally as there is no reseller of these type units here - so interested in your reasons for not purchasing from China given its all working well after 12 months.
@@timterry8714 The first unit I received was defective (bad amplifier), and I sent it back to the seller at my cost ($80). I was able to track the package all the way through clearing Chinese customs. The seller then claimed it was never received and refused to refund my purchase. I am very happy with the current unit, but I ended up paying twice for it.
That's disappointing to hear. Ali express offers buyer protection and I have always found that they pursue the seller if they fail to meet delivery deadlines and generally find in favour of the buyer. They seem fiercely protective of their reputation. I guess thats not something that they could help you with. Is the sound quality as good as any audio bluetooth do you think? This seems to be a criticism of these products. Have there been firmware or software updates that have made this product better since you purchased it? Cheers Tim
@@timterry8714 The story is convoluted enough that I'll just say I was tricked by the seller into dropping my dispute on Paypal, and AliExpress was no help whatsoever. I eventually just threw up my hands and called it a life lesson. I have my system wired from the head unit's RCA outputs to a 5-channel amplifier, and the whole thing sounds great. (I've also replaced all the door speakers and added a 12" subwoofer). Before the custom system, I was running it through the Levinson amp for several months, and the sound was greatly improved there as well. A custom firmware is available for download on a Facebook group for Tesla-style radios. It does smooth out some of the rough edges in the user experience, but it doesn't fundamentally change the way the unit operates. I paid $100 for it and have no regrets. As you can see in my video, I'm using a third-party launcher app over the factory interface, and that makes more of a difference than anything since it allows me to customize the layout of the homepage. I don't anticipate any firmware or software updates coming from the manufacturer; it's largely up to the hive to improve these head units.
I use a widget on the home screen for outside temperature. I haven't found a way to make it appear in the top information bar, but I haven't tried very hard, either. I assume you could install a weather app that would put it there for you.
I also have a 06 LX, very excited to see a unit as such is available. Please add as much addition info about the functionality and satisfaction of the unit. Was the install “handy man” easy? or would you recommend a pro install. Did the music organization have a fix? Awesome Brother, great vid!
I just installed the Grom Vline in my 2006 LX470 - very disappointing for the price. I avoided this PX6 specifically because I heard it was a little "buggy". Well... so is the Grom. Grom is also super loud, overheats, reboots and/or freezes often, is miserable on performance, never fully shuts off, and is riddled with customer satisfaction issues. So now I will either go simple BT-45 or full on Tesla PX6. Hopefully PX6 install be as straightforward as Grom, and I get a screen that isnt limited to 240p. How are the aforementioned issues in PX6?
I no longer own this LX470, but I can tell you that in the two years I had the PX6 system, I had none of the issues you describe. It worked as expected from day one, and with the DSP the sound quality is sensational with a good amp, sub and speakers.
How you connect factory installed camera? Or you install new rear camera. I have 2003 LX 470 impoerted from Florida to Norway in 2006. I purchased the same unit which you have on the floor with gray bazel. Rear camera did not work with that.
Please reply, how good is the display it self especially at the afternoon? Is it clear with great brightness? Also does the brightness adapt between day and night or I should set it manually? Thank you so much
The display is bright and clear, but direct sunlight will cause a glare, as with any glass screen. It dims automatically when the headlights come on, and you can adjust the brightness for day and night. If you wear polarized sunglasses, you will not be able to see the screen from an angle; you will only be able to see it from directly in front.
Great overview. I installed a PX6 unit in my iS350. It’s great. I am having an issue using my iPhone as a hotspot. To reconnect I have to turn off the hotspot and cell data for 10 seconds the turn back on to connect. Have you ran into any similar issues?
Thanks, Ed. Glad it was helpful. I use an Android phone (Google Pixel 3 XL), but I did have an iPhone 7 for a while and the only issue I had is that I had to manually turn on the hotspot every time I got into the car because the phone wouldn't allow the hotspot to stay active without any devices connected. That was a while ago, though...not sure how the newer iPhones are set up. My current phone keeps the hotspot active all the time, so as soon as the radio boots up it connects immediately.
@@elliottpowers2048 check out MacroDroid. It allows you to set up macros based on bluetooth connectivity (amongst a lot of other things). I have it to where when my bluetooth automatically connects to the unit, it enables hotspot and then the unit connects to my hotspot. When I shut off the truck and the phone disconnects from that bluetooth it disables hotspot and searches for wifi again. Also, there's a macro for auto skipping ads on youtube which is priceless.
Hey mate, I purchased a system like this but for some reasons I can’t get the auto dimmer to work plus all the side buttons like hazard, dif lock etc. can you help please?
The side buttons should be transferred over from your original console. So just make sure you reconnect them the way they were before, and they should work fine. The dimmer on the unit is controlled in the settings and is a day/night adjustable setting. I don't know whether it uses a photo sensor or just goes based on time of day, but mine has always worked fine.
Thank you for the review. I just bought one for a group buy that I set up today. Is they camera that you used plug and play with the px6? The px6 rear view cam input is an rca input? Also is it pretty plug and play with the OEM harnesses?
The rear camera is the standard yellow composite video plug, so it's completely plug and play with any aftermarket camera. If you want the dash cam/dvr function, it has to be a USB camera, and it may need to be a specific type -- I'd ask the seller about that if you're interested.
Elliott Powers thanks. Not interested in the dash cam right now. Do you think I could replace the camera by cutting and splicing a new camera into the existing wiring on the camera side? I don’t see why not if the head is supply the voltage to the camera.
@@borneo1910 I don't know that you'll be able to use the existing wiring. My understanding is that the factory camera runs on 6 volts, while the radio expects a 12-volt signal. You might be able to rig something up, but I think you'd be better off running new wires (or paying someone to do it for you).
Very informative video.. i have seen you go to the amp info page. On my unit on the amp info page the all the settings button are not responding kindly lete know how to activate them my sound audio is not very clear and i want to set the bass treble and middle which are currently set to -7. Thanks will really appreciate
I don't know why your buttons are not responding. I use an external amplifier now, so my buttons don't do anything anymore, but when it was connected to the factory Mark Levinson amp I had full control of those settings without having to activate anything. Have you checked the car settings page to make sure you have the correct vehicle selected?
I have never dealt with this company, so I cannot vouch for them, but this is the unit that would fit your GX470: phoenixautomotiveinc.com/collections/tesla-style-vertical-screen/products/10-4-metal-trim-tesla-style-android-navigation-radio-for-lexus-gx-470-2004-2009
Can you dim the overall brightness,? And is there a day/night setting. Like when you have GPS on can you make the bright background black and the roads and texts white,?
Yes, the screen brightness dims automatically when the headlights come on, or you can cycle through three levels of brightness manually. As for the GPS day/night background, that will depend on which GPS app you use. I have Waze and Google Maps installed, and both automatically switch into night mode based on time of day. You can also make that the default view if you prefer.
The install in my 2006 LX was plug and play, but owners of other years have reported having to jump through a few hoops in order to get everything working as expected. Check out this thread on IH8MUD: forum.ih8mud.com/threads/lc-lx470-tesla-style-screen-radio-upgrade-with-climate-control-general-discussions.1161042/
I just purchased a 2006 lx470. Curious to cost of everything? And if I connect with Bluetooth from my note 9 to the unit, could I stream TH-cam videos from my phone to it? Thx
The radio was about $700 with shipping; if you choose to have it installed professionally, I'd expect to pay about $200. It's a straightforward process if you're comfortable working inside the dash, but these unbranded units tend to make some car audio shops nervous because they can't stand behind their work like they want to. As for streaming TH-cam videos, you'd be much better off simply connecting the radio to your phone's wifi hotspot and using the TH-cam app on the radio to play the videos. Adding in a layer of complexity by streaming from your phone is not likely to be a great experience for you.
Also, if you're adding a new rear view camera, you'll be paying another $150, give or take. Running the wires requires a bit of disassembly of the interior trim for a clean install.
@@checkyoursix I haven't seen the Phoenix model in person, but from what I see on their website, the PX6 version they sell is identical to the one I reviewed here.
Hey I just installed mine in a 07 lx470 - few things: my physical buttons aren't working, they light up when the headlights are turned on but dont do anything when pressed. Did you get an airbag light? Is your volume way too loud?
Hi Yousuf, I've seen some threads on IH8MUD relating to the airbag light issue, but I don't honestly know what the answer is. I think there are differences in LX470s manufactured after Jan. 2006 that have caused people to run into the problem you're having -- something about how the SRS system checks itself when you turn on the vehicle changed at that time. As for your volume issue, have you gone into the Console setting to check the volume on the amplifier? You should also go into the System settings (enter code 8861) and adjust the gain levels for each individual input source. I turned the gain for my radio all the way down to 0, and left the gain for other sources up higher so there's not as much of a difference from one to the next.
@@elliottpowers2048 I had blinking airbag light on mine, was able to get to the plug under the drivers seat and clean and make sure each prong was straight and in order. worked!
Very quick question here, this seems to be all Android based, is there a version that is Apple Based? This video was super helpful, thanks for sharing!
Glad you found the video useful! You won't find any head units that are Apple-based because Apple keeps very tight control over their operating system. Android was created as an open operating system for any developer who wants to use it, which is why it's found in devices like TVs, radios, fridges, and phones & tablets from a zillion different manufacturers. Apple iOS was created specifically to be used on iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches, and it isn't available to outside developers.
@@elliottpowers2048 I am assuming you can stream music and whatnot from and Apple device to this unit via Bluetooth? And/or you could use your Apple device as a hotspot to this unit?
Great vid, and thank you. Are you suggesting a US supplier because of issues with the unit, or because a US supplier means that the units are already in the USA and able to be sent out to you? Thanks
I'm suggesting a US supplier because if you do need to return it, you're not at the mercy of a Chinese company that has no real obligation or motivation to correct the issue, as I learned the hard way.
My main concern here is the integrated AC controls. Some folks who got this are reporting issues with controlling their cooling/heating. How's it holding up so far? I currently have the GROM Vline and I am really thinking on getting this as a replacement.
Did you do anything special to get the backup camera to work? I've seen descriptions of these Tesla screen units that say the unit won't support the OEM camera.
The OEM camera is 6 volts, not 12, and it's low-resolution technology from two decades ago so it will look terrible on the big screen even if you're able to rig it up to work. Buy a new HD camera and pay a shop to install it. It'll be cheaper and much easier than trying to splice in the factory one.
@@elliottpowers2048 Thank you very much, makes sense. Overall are you enjoying the unit still? My '07 LX470 is my wife's daily driver, and she would like a nicer system than the OEM. Do you recommend it today? Thanks.
@@aaronrules Yes, it includes inputs for an aftermarket camera, and installing it is very straightforward. I don't have my own writeup on IH8MUD, but I'm one of the original contributors to the main thread that BigLittle posted a few years ago.
The factory backup camera is not compatible. You'll need to install an aftermarket camera to retain that function. Also, the factory camera is not HD, so the image would look pretty lousy on the large screen.
Is there any "easy" connect with android to these units to provide android auto experience? I've only been able to essentially mirror my phone screen but not as natural an interface as you show
I've never bothered connecting my phone to the unit for anything other than Bluetooth calling. Since it's already an Android unit, I just run the apps directly on it.
@@elliottpowers2048 and you connect it to your hotspot? or do you pay a separate service for the head unit? I have been trying to install items to use android auto for simplicity but maybe your route is best to go. you installed the car launcher pro right onto the unit itself, right? wanting primarily ease of using pandora, googlemaps and thats probably about it
Yes, I went with this reverse camera: www.amazon.com/RAAYOO-Universal-Automotive-Rotatable-Non-Mirror/dp/B074P17ZLF/ You won't be able to use the factory camera with the new head unit, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to; it's old technology, and not an HD image. There are grid lines in reverse, but there's no beep, as that would require parking sensors in the rear bumper to measure distance.
Nice! I have a GX470 with the latest PX6 unit updates. I installed the car launcher free and then bought the pro. Neither would load the themes up and down like you show but forced top to bottom left to right. Were you able to just choose the theme or did you have to change any setting to get it to look right? Most car head unit screens are horizontal (landscape) and ours's are vertical (portrait). Please let me know as I am getting my a** kicked on this. Thanks!
Not sure I'm following your question. Are you not getting a vertically oriented screen at all? It's been so long since I installed and configured Car Launcher that I don't honestly remember how I got it to its current state.
@@elliottpowers2048 Thanks for the quick reply. My question is were you just able to choose the theme and it worked with little to no custom setup? The developer told me their launcher does not work automatically with "vertical" screens like ours and they have to manually be setup or moved around. Mine by default creates all of the theme widgets from top to bottom. Not side to side like they show and like you show. Did you have to do it all manually? Thanks again!
@@c.a.nixiii4650 I had to do a fair bit of customizing to get it to the layout you see on my screen...definitely spent some time on it. You should have an option for a layout similar to what I have, though.
@@elliottpowers2048 Thanks! The developer changed some things it seems and no longer came up vertical. He was great and sent me custom vertical templates based on the horizontal ones. With Minimal changes I was able to get things how I wanted. He said he will add horiz/vertical options for themes in a future release.
I personally think it's a really good unit, and I'm still very happy with mine in general. That said, with a 2002 LX470 you also have the option of using an off-the-shelf double-din head unit with a dash kit, whereas my 2006 isn't compatible with that style. If you're looking for something that's completely polished and has no minor quirks, something from Alpine or Kenwood (or any other name brand) will have less of a learning curve; but if you want something that is really unique, sounds good and provides limitless options with the app store, give this one a shot.
Hello, I am French, I am looking to buy this product. I have several questions for you. .the original truck camera works? Are there changes to be made? can we add a second and run it without going backwards? is there a sim card slot for mobile data? and for connection sharing? I noticed that there is no outside temperature of origin? .the tablet reads the hard disk or only the usb key? did you take the 64GO? Android 9? I like your video explanatory thank you for sharing. cordially
Bonjour, The original truck camera does not work. You will need to install a new one, but you will want that anyway since the old one is not HD. A new camera will give you a much better picture. You can add a second camera and as long as it has a constant 12V+ source, it can be viewed at any time. This was useful for me when towing a trailer behind my truck. There is no sim card slot, but you can add a 4G USB dongle that serves the same purpose. No outside temperature displays in the top bar, but it may be possible to find an app that will put it there. I haven't looked, because it's not something that is important to me. The tablet is connected to a 500 GB Toshiba hard drive via USB and reads all of my music and video from that single device. I got the 32GB unit with Android 8. Thank you for watching the video! Subscribe and you will be notified when I post an update soon. Hello Elliott, Phoenix Auto is not responding to any of our messages or calls. Very poor customer service! Have you ever had an airbag light along with VGRS flashing issue on your dash? After using their supplied wiring with canbus box for passenger side bezel with airbag on/off lamp connector it won't work. Factory connector has 5 wires and the one they've sent has only 2. The light will go off only if I use all the original parts but doesn't do anything using theirs.. I can not use the factory box which controls all the push buttons on the bottom of the factory screen (heated rear and front glass, air etc.. ) since it is too large and can not be installed under or behind the screen. I'm just wondering if you might have a solution for that.. Like a by pass or something else..Thanks!
Sorry -- I realize it's been several months since you asked this, but I've only recently had a chance to catch up on all the comments here. I never had any issue with the airbag light, but the VGRS flashing is usually a sign that the battery has been disconnected. I've seen it a couple of times, and it always fixes itself after a few miles as the system recalibrates. I'm not sure I totally understand the issue you were describing with the canbus, but I assume you've got everything sorted out by now.
Did you have any issues with sound? Everything is working except the sound, I have an 05 LC. I've tried sound in settings and console (amp info isn't working). Any Ideas?
I had no problem with sound when I installed mine. Before you removed the factory stereo, was it on or off? If it was turned off, there's a possibility that the amp could stay in the off setting once you connect the new one. If it was off, try reconnecting the factory stereo, turning the volume up to 40, and then turn off the ignition and disconnect it. Other than that, I don't really have any ideas. Good luck!
@@elliottpowers2048 it was on, I had the volume at a normal level. I've noticed if I turn the unit up to 40, a static comes through and I can hear a faint sound from the music playing.
I've seen some of these units that actually had the animated picture of the actual vehicle they're installed in, like LX or GX470. Personally, I'd rather have a cleaner and simpler UX. The UX I'm seeing on these is somewhat cluttered and messy looking. For whoever is designing the user interface on these things I wish they'd understand that research shows that most people only use a handful of features of their infotainment system.
You can install a variety of launcher apps that completely change the UX. What you see in the video I posted is called Car Launcher Pro; it offers several other layouts that are much simpler, or you can customize the screens to look however you want. I prefer it over the factory-installed app, but YMMV.
Personally, the only one that interests me is the front-facing DVR camera. The DVR software on the head unit requires a camera with USB interface, not an RCA like a standard rear-view (I learned this the hard way). I suppose the DSP could improve sound quality a bit more, but I'd go with an external amp and new speakers before something like that. The sound quality is already improved over the factory system. The 3G/4G dongle also seems unnecessary to me since most everyone's smartphone has hotspot capability built in. And I don't know how the TPMS would work with the OEM system, especially since we have the option of dual settings. I'm not too eager to mess with that, because I don't see a lot of value in having constant feedback on tire temp & pressure. Just let me know when they get low.
@@justinivins3843 I've seen a thread in the ih8mud forum where someone figured out how to re-use the factory camera, but it looked to me like just as much work as running a new one. And at the end of the day, I'm not interested in feeding an SD image from a 14-year-old camera to the radio when I can get an exponentially clearer HD feed from a new one. If it's not something you want to do yourself (and it is definitely some work to run the wires up to the front), most car audio shops will install one for a couple hours of labor. Here's the rear view camera I'm using: www.amazon.com/dp/B074P17ZLF
I recommend taking it to a professional to install a new backup camera. Here is the one I have: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074P17ZLF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have been very happy with it for more than 2 years now. The new camera will need to be mounted in the space where the factory camera is, and a wire will need to be run from there to the back of the head unit, and to a trigger source at the factory reverse light wire. The factory camera will not work with this radio without modifications, and the low-res image will look terrible on the large screen.
I've read a few messages where they could not get the AC working, is it really fixed... seams like a good deal for the several hundred bucks... is it really... will it work with any year Lexus.. mine is 2004. as you know the factory unit is very limited and small screen I would buy this unit in a hearth beat but scared cause of all the negative messages.
@@MrDumbovic I bought it from Aliexpress. You'll find several sellers offering versions of the same unit. Just make sure the one you get has the PX6 processor (may be labeled as "Hex Core") and at least 4GB of RAM. Don't worry too much about whether it's Android 8.1 or 9.0 -- I don't think it will make a difference one way or another.
Check out this group on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/tesla.style.FW.HU Sergey is the administrator of the page, and he has developed a firmware update that includes an MCU upgrade as part of the installation. The most recent version looks to be v3: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maxmpz.audioplayer But I would recommend VLC Player over Poweramp, because I wasn't able to make Poweramp display properly on the Tesla screen -- buttons and other items weren't working, so I switched to a different app. Here's a link to VLC Player: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.videolan.vlc

You will need to install an aftermarket camera. The factory camera is 6 volts, not 12, and the picture is not HD.
Were you able to install the aftermarket camera in the factory location?

Hi mate
Just bought lx470 1999
Is it gonna fit in there as well?

Very informative video.. i have seen you go to the amp info page. On my unit on the amp info page the all the settings button are not responding kindly lete know how to activate them my sound audio is not very clear and i want to set the bass treble and middle which are currently set to -7. Thanks will really appreciate
I don't know why your buttons are not responding. I use an external amplifier now, so my buttons don't do anything anymore, but when it was connected to the factory Mark Levinson amp I had full control of those settings without having to activate anything. Have you checked the car settings page to make sure you have the correct vehicle selected?
Have a question can you share me the right website so i can purchase i need for my 2003 lexus Gx470
Hi, you mentioned having a Mark Levinson system. Was the install a plug and play, or were there any extra steps required to make it work?
How does this compare to the Phoenix model? I have a 2007 gx 470
@@elliottpowers2048 I had blinking airbag light on mine, was able to get to the plug under the drivers seat and clean and make sure each prong was straight and in order. worked!
Excuse me, passenger seat
(and you won't have to pay $85 to ship it back to China)
My main concern here is the integrated AC controls. Some folks who got this are reporting issues with controlling their cooling/heating. How's it holding up so far? I currently have the GROM Vline and I am really thinking on getting this as a replacement.
I have not had any significant issues with the HVAC controls. Heat, A/C, rear fan, defrost, etc. all work as they should.
@@elliottpowers2048 Thanks for your feedback on this. This is very helpful info.
@@heintjie Glad to help. After nearly two weeks with the radio, I'm still very happy with it and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Thanks.
@@johnnygrimes4997 Yes, I'm still happy with it and have had no problems at all.
@@elliottpowers2048 Does the unit come with an input for aftermarket backup camera? Do you have a write up or anything on mud or anywhere?
@@aaronrules Yes, it includes inputs for an aftermarket camera, and installing it is very straightforward. I don't have my own writeup on IH8MUD, but I'm one of the original contributors to the main thread that BigLittle posted a few years ago.
Did you have to do any special wiring to connect the factory backup camera?
I have been trying to install items to use android auto for simplicity but maybe your route is best to go. you installed the car launcher pro right onto the unit itself, right?
wanting primarily ease of using pandora, googlemaps and thats probably about it
For your reverse camera did you go third party? Does it beep with the grid lines like modern cars? Thanks in advance!
Yes, I went with this reverse camera: www.amazon.com/RAAYOO-Universal-Automotive-Rotatable-Non-Mirror/dp/B074P17ZLF/
You won't be able to use the factory camera with the new head unit, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to; it's old technology, and not an HD image.
How would this work with iPhone?
I don't use iPhone, but I know that many people connect theirs using CarPlay. I've never seen it in action, but from what I've heard it works well.
Hi does the unit still work great after 3 years. Are there any issues that have arisen? Thanks!
I sold the truck last year, but I have stayed in touch with the buyer and he says everything is still working perfectly.
Hi
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to upgrade my 2002 lx470. Would you recommend this unit for my model?
I personally think it's a really good unit, and I'm still very happy with mine in general. That said, with a 2002 LX470 you also have the option of using an off-the-shelf double-din head unit with a dash kit, whereas my 2006 isn't compatible with that style. If you're looking for something that's completely polished and has no minor quirks, something from Alpine or Kenwood (or any other name brand) will have less of a learning curve; but if you want something that is really unique, sounds good and provides limitless options with the app store, give this one a shot.
Hello,
I am French, I am looking to buy this product.
Android 9?
I like your video explanatory thank you for sharing.
cordially
Bonjour,
The original truck camera does not work.

So I've been told by custom shops that these are junk..... how true is that? Your thought a year or two later ?
A year later, mine is still working great, and I still have no regrets. Considering the cost, it's been an absolute no-brainer.
@@dlamb623 That's strange. Do you have any ability to change amp settings in the Console?
I have 07’ LX470. Do you recommend ordering any of the add-on’s accessories available with this unit?
Elliott Powers so I will need to replace my factory rear facing camera?
@@justinivins3843 I've seen a thread in the ih8mud forum where someone figured out how to re-use the factory camera, but it looked to me like just as much work as running a new one. And at the end of the day, I'm not interested in feeding an SD image from a 14-year-old camera to the radio when I can get an exponentially clearer HD feed from a new one. If it's not something you want to do yourself (and it is definitely some work to run the wires up to the front), most car audio shops will install one for a couple hours of labor. Here's the rear view camera I'm using: www.amazon.com/dp/B074P17ZLF
How to installation backup camera thank w
I recommend taking it to a professional to install a new backup camera. Here is the one I have: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B074P17ZLF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have been very happy with it for more than 2 years now.
The new camera will need to be mounted in the space where the factory camera is, and a wire will need to be run from there to the back of the head unit, and to a trigger source at the factory reverse light wire. The factory camera will not work with this radio without modifications, and the low-res image will look terrible on the large screen.
great info!?
I've read a few messages where they could not get the AC working, is it really fixed... seams like a good deal for the several hundred bucks... is it really... will it work with any year Lexus.. mine is 2004. as you know the factory unit is very limited and small screen I would buy this unit in a hearth beat but scared cause of all the negative messages.
I can only speak about my experience in my 06 LX. So far, everything is working fine.
@@elliottpowers2048 where did you buy it.. are there different ones.
@@MrDumbovic I bought it from Aliexpress. You'll find several sellers offering versions of the same unit. It's certainly not for everyone. I recommend it for someone who likes to mess around and tweak settings and doesn't mind troubleshooting from time to time, but I would not recommend it for someone who wants a radio that is as easy to use as the factory unit.

Yep! No problems at all to this point.
Can you run it with no google products at all? I’m not a google fan. Could I put kaspersky on it? I’m new to android. I’m switching from Apple. I’m used to iTunes. I want to go to crutchfield and replace all of the speakers in my 2006 LX470 and buy a better amp and 1 or two 12” subs. Could I just buy an iPod or should I just get an external hard drive?
What do you mean by "no Google products?" Android is a Google product, so you won't be able to avoid it completely. For storage, I routed one of the USB inputs from the head unit into the arm rest and connected a 500GB SSD. Also, Kaspersky is Russian spyware.
