    As a dermatologist I love your videos, they're really educational, well summarized, very funny and most important they speak the to truth with no bull s***, i'm honestly really tired of many ,so called influencers, and sadly some colleagues who try to sell skin care products in someway that they forget that we are scientist first of all and we shouldnt play with patient expectations, keep going doing an excellent job!😊😊

      Well said, I've recently started to find resentment for the skin care culture & their sales teams... never fun to go to a 'doctor' and leave worse than you arrived..:( It would be nice to have a new centralized health authority vs the legacy cooperate mess we confuse for medical care today.

    Hi Doc, thank you so much for your vids. It's really reassuring to see qualified people like you being completely honest with all these buzz about skincare. I've been trying to educate myself a lot of times with what products to use but I'm always dissatisfied with influencers and their claims not backed up by studies at all.
    Anyway, I'd like to know more about pores and if it's really possible to either completely remove them or at least significantly make them invisible. I have very visible pores and most of the time it's more visible especially during humid days. Is there any non-BS way of improving it? Or is it mostly genetics?

    Awesome video! I love it as a cause & treatment overview for the hormonal cystic acne, but what about the solid cleansing regime in the morning and in the evening as a very important part of it? Because the dirt, make-up, sweat, etc. that is unproperly cleansed off the face with acne is a) clogging b) contributing the spread of bacteria, c) preventing the products to penetrate... Plus, the improper cleansers (too oily or too stripping) mess the barrier up. Can you talk a little bit about that? 🤗

    Had acne for ages and then an endocrinologist prescribed me spironolactone and within a week my hair started falling out in chunks and has never been the same since. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made. In the end I had to go on two courses of roaccutane and that exacerbated my hair shedding and thinned out the texture of my hair. My acne is gone but it took my best feature with it.

I really tried to find real professionals that know their work and have education, not just cosmetologist or plastic surgeon, but real doctors with science-based stuff, and finally I found dermatologist, who really knows about skin and hair. I would love to see a video about psoriasis treatment possibilities with pros&cons, and video about hair dandruff problems, like how to fight dry dandruff and oily dandruff (psoriasis and dandruff does not regard to one person in this context).

    You are an amazing dermatologist! Thank you for being so honest! This is soooo rare nowadays when everyone tries to sell so much stuff. So much respect for you! Could you please recommend cruelty-free moisturizers? Many brands like CeraVe, Neutrogena, etc are kinda shady, say they don't test on animals ''unless required'' in China or through suppliers, or through a third party. So they actually do test. We'd love to know really good cruelty-free products.

    • @usamasyed
      @usamasyed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      Honestly I'm not an expert on the 'cruelty-free' genres because I feel like most of the information on it is inconsistent and misleading e.g. brands that advertise as 'cruelty free' will still use ingredients that have been tested by OTHER companies and become part of the FDA 'approved monograph' allowing them to be used in the cosmetics in the US.

    • @ejohnson3131
      @ejohnson3131 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The whole “cruelty-free” thing is BS that companies use to charge you more for their products, so don’t let that claim be the reason why you buy or don’t buy a skincare product.
      A lot of the leading brands do lots of research before launching a new product with new ingredients. They have to test on animals to make sure it’s safe for humans. Your cruelty-free brands benefit from that research, so it’s just hypocritical to shop from “cruelty-free” brands.

    You are that rare creature who is informative and entertaining! I have been very successful in treating my cystic acne with tretinoin 0.05%, spironolactone 100mg, salicylic acid wash in am, benzoyl peroxide wash in pm 4% and lactic acid twice a week. After a hysterectomy in 2014 my skin went apeshit and it took a while of OTC attempts that did nothing until I finally saw a Dr. Now I have my routine and I cleared up the hyperpigmentation and get a breakout very very seldom. Dermatologists are heroes, we are vain humans and having to conceal and cover and disguise to just exist was exhausting. Now I do my routine, see my Dr a few times a year and live my life. @usamasyed I have acne prone skin. My skin is oily still at 40. Other the years I have learned that my skin is also extremely sensitive and as a reaction I get more acne. The blemishes look like my regular acne and not allergic reactions. Although I can also get allergic reactions. No Dermatologist found out or even tried to investigate that part. Avoiding fragrance, alcohol essential oils, flower water like rose water or moisturizers with a lot of oils have helped a lot. VitC and leave on salycilic acid products also trigger my scne. The list is long. But it's under control now.I found out by myself by trials and errors over the years since I started to get acne at 13. Using acne fighting ingredients have helped of course. But changing my pillow case often 2/week for me using a special small towel for my face everyday has also helped. I saw the difference when I did and when I did not. It's unfortunate that many Dr who see acne prone skin never consider that it could also be sensitive. Most products that target acne are harsh including many medications I tried in the past. Thankfully I have a Dermatologist now who understands that, because he has seen it enough times in his many years of practice (he is close to retirement) so he does not look at me like a crazy person... like other Dermatologists I had in the past but who did not even help.
      If acne was that simple to treat nobody would have it. People who suffer from acne follow Dr advice to the T with hope that it will stop until they have to face the truth when it's not working. Treating acne is not as simple as black and white. This or that protocol/ingredient followed by the book is not always helping patients and other the years we often have to learn our skin ourselves.

    1.Which skincare routine you recommended for face that is applicable for body also?
    As you said just a gentle cleanser / moisturizer/ sunscreen / adapelene at night. Exfoliate once in a week.
    2. Using sunscreen reduce tanning and pigmentation also?

    I've tried for months to get rid of acne and kept failing. I even made it a bit worse, I think it was a result of being too aggressive. This gave me a new insight on what I've been not doing, so thank you! And yes, I also get an immediate acne breakout whenever I think about pizza.

      @@usamasyed Dr. Usama Syed, please help me with this doubt. Retinoids encourage cell differentiation, cell turnover, and skin rejuvenation by promoting faster skin cell regeneration. However, I came across information about the shortening of telomeres. Telomeres are present at the edges of chromosomes that shorten with each cell division. Retinoids increase the frequency of cell division, causing the telomeres to shorten quickly. If telomeres become too short, cells will no longer divide, leading to premature aging.
      I also found research suggesting that retinoids, especially retinoic acids(Tretinoin), suppress the activity of the enzyme Telomerase, which is vital for preventing telomere shortening and aging. While this shortening of Telomeres may be effective against cancer cells, I am concerned about their impact on normal healthy cells. Are Retinoids still safe?
