I used to have one of these and I lost it. To be honest for my specific use case it was great. I'm a domestic heating engineer and having this in my pocket was very useful. The hammer was great for freeing up seized thermostatic radiator valves as they just need a light tap on the central pin to loosen them off. The cheap knife was great for opening parts packaging and the claw part of the hammer was handy for removing cable clips in tight areas. I agree it's not exactly my leatherman surge but it saved me from abusing that and indeed risking loosing it under a customer's floorboards as I probably did with this.

Very interesting! Sounds like there might be the case for perfecting this concept and making it a bit better.

Hard to believe that someone actually got paid to come up with this thing and even harder to believe that someone else approved it for production

I got one for mom because she wanted a decent pill crusher bought every kind of pill crusher and wasn’t satisfied with them so I saw this in a bargain bin for five bucks and she keeps it by the bed and when she needs to crush a pill she puts pill in a ziplock and smashes the hell out of it lol and takes it with her for self defense lol

That's a very novel way to use it!

Ha ha, I enjoyed this. She's smart to think of some self-defense options, for bedside and for in-the-purse while about town. I remember the video I saw from some super-capable self-defense-instructor type of guy on TH-cam where he says that he considers a claw hammer a better self-defense weapon than many another knife or tool.

Always fun to see those. As low quality as some of those are, every tool comes in handy in some fashion. I’ve had a similar tool for a long time… so long that I don’t remember where I got it. The only difference is there’s no pliers. Just a small hammer and basically the same set of folding tools. It lives on my bench just for the hammer use, to lightly strike a punch with, where a big hammer would be too much. But, as limited as it is, I actually found a use for it, so it was a win… and it was saved from a life sentence in the junk tool drawer. 😁

Very good. I am surprised how useful some of these, like you said, can be. I think it's because I'm not afraid to break them so I cheerfully beat them to pieces.

You know that no matter the size of the hammer you can control how hard you hit am object right? Lol. Now yes a sledge will hit harder. Then a small hammer. But you can also lightly tap something with a sledge if you really wanted to. So a normal hammer would easily work.

I have something really similar, even got the same useless serrated knife/screwdriver/file combo. used the pliers with quite some force once and they fucking bent sideways.

I think it would be far better to simply have an hammer and different tools built in the handle. the pliers honestly seems useless and i'd rather use a leatherman of an actual set of dedicated pliers.
BUT, in my opinion, the design isn't that awful, and it could be good.

True, I like the idea of a full hammer!

I’ve got one of these with wood scales. It’s pretty garbage.
