If there's one thing I've seen a ton pop up in the last 12 to 18 months. It's journals, journals, planners, what do you do? People are way over complicating it in my opinion. So in this video I want to walk you through how to journal specifically for self-growth and how to journal for self-development. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner, intermediate, or an advanced little journal nerd like us on this channel.
Guys, it's Clark with a feeling of settling. Welcome to the journal Wednesday.
Journal nerds. See that we even branded it with the fancy little label maker. Swear. I'm going to be
working out at Joanne's fabric soon or something. I don't know what's up. My journal nerds Clark with
refusal of settles here and my best journal.com you guys ready for journal Wednesday? Guys liking this
structure. I know a bunch of you journals, so if it helps to have a journal on journal Wednesday, let me
know in the comments and smash the heck out of that like button. Look, I'm fired up today. We have a
lot to cover on a walk you through some do's and some don'ts of how to journal if you're, we're getting
into this cause this thing changed my life man. This eight and a half by 11 sketchbook. I always say, you
know my spiel, if you're here, if you're new here, welcome. Um, it's the best book you've ever read.
Okay? Literally like imagine having a log that you can look back on 2016, 17 1819 2014 for 10 or 20
years. You can see your development throughout those 10 or 20 years in a long and if you do it right, like
we'll show you in this video and we've shown you on this channel, okay, then it's awesome. I mean it's
the number one tool you can use guys. You don't need to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for life
coaching. Okay? Like it helps, right? And it helps to work through someone. But a lot of people, I mean, I
mean you can, how much can you really get out of an hour? You know, you pay 500 bucks, even a
hundred bucks an hour for someone. Like, okay, there's a lot of back and forth there, but you can go into
this for a couple of hours a week for free and you can coach yourself if you do it the right way.
That's what we say on this channel. You can coach yourself, you can become your own coach. You know
the seminars are great, but if you don't look back and apply it, I mean it's just kind of to be blunt, you
know, a waste of time. It's like you go there, you feel good, you're amped up and it bark out of their
Tony Robbins plane. You can take on the world and then you go back to your older teens if you're really
honest. Right? Look, I'm guilty of that to travel into events and I have all my notes and I'm still
implementing things from them. Okay, so journaling is how you do that. That is the place. And let's get
into this video right now. I don't know if we'll bust out the $1,300 flip chart today. We might might have
some fun now that I talked about it, I have to do it.
I got something for you. You probably can't read this. I'll read it to you, but the visuals are more
important. So here's you right here in the middle, okay? This is your current self. This is your current
reality. This is you at your current job, your current relationship, your living situation right now, if you're
watching this channel, you want to refuse to settle. You want to get to your ideal self in five years, right?
So if I ask you what do you want in five years, I mean you probably have some goals, you probably have
some visions, but you're lacking a plan to actually get there. So here's why journaling is so cool. You
identify you right now in the middle. Then instead of, okay, what do I, how do I make this ambiguous
thing happen in five years? Like if you want to become a millionaire, let's just say that's a goal of yours.

    1. Circle of growth (Project yourself for 5y, but starts planning backwards)
    2. Write your own book, rather than believing someone''s faith will work for you
    3. Your old journal can be a gold mine for inspirations!
    4. Sometime, reading the same book/your own journal better than reading other or always start new one. Bc you can process your thoughts and idea while reading it. You can use journal as your tracker for your future goal.

    Okay, first of all:
I F*CKING FREAKED OUT WHEN YOU ASKED "What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail?", like seriously, I just can't stop thinking about it. I'm going to ask that question to every friend, family member, HUMAN.
I just wasn't expecting when I clicked on this video that you were gonna blow my mind in the way you did. So I give you my honest congrats.
I feel like a need a summary of this video, you said way too many things that I need to think about.
Love when you say that we need to be our own "prophets" , couches. It's so true that in personal development we tend to celebrate the choices that other make, like "Wow this dude is amazing", but we don't usually put in practice all the things we learn. And that is so sad, we stay exactly the same, over and over again. Just waiting.
WHAT THE F*UCK ARE WE WAITING FOR?
We only have this life, this present. The least we can do is try.
Journaling is an amazing tool to see all the things we've past through and all the mistakes that remain until today that we need to work on. Also gives you the space to forgive yourself, love yourself, talk to yourself ... I could go on but the list is endless.
Life is now, our chance is now.
Write, think, love yourself and others, make mistakes, learn, have fun, work hard, fight, never give up ... LIVE.
Thank you for all this inspiration. You've earned a new subscriber. 💙✨

Omg!! Finally some structure!! I've always had an interest in Journaling and have made a few in the past but never found that they helped me, I did express myself creatively but they were without goals and I always felt that what I wanted to write down doesn't always sound authentic unless I'm complaining about something. I know for a fact this will change everything, thank you so much.

A good tip I learned a while back is to keep a small notebook with you. I'll take notes throughout the day (as things pop up), and then transfer them into my journal each week. It helps me to remember the small nuggets that would otherwise disappear into oblivion, and also makes them easy to look back on at a later date from a different perspective.
Love your channel by the way Clark!

Your G wagon analogy spoke to me. I was rereading my journal yesterday and realized some of the dreams and goals that I have were given to me by other people but were never dreamt of by me. Journaling helped me pinpoint what I liked about those past goals and reform them to what I wanted. Awesome video

Hi, I really like what you said about leading a client to recognize information on their own! You are absolutely correct. I am an aspiring therapist, and this is what we call Socratic questioning. You're right in that the client or person must realize it on their own in order to fully receive and internalize and thus change!
I will also say that from personal experience, I have had times where I have felt so lost that I actually felt that I needed to watch those TH-cam videos or self help books for a starting point of guidance. I was so into my head that I was in need of another's healthy mind and perspective to gain some clarity and strength; almost like training wheels. And once I felt strong again, I was able to hear my own healthy internal voice now no longer convoluted with past unhealthy irrational thoughts and fears.
I like your videos and I like what you're doing!!! I am a happy subscriber :)

"when you coach someone you need to lead them to their own conclusions" that's where it hit me ...I went to the bookstore with my mom to buy some school supplies and I was watching that notebook ...I left it at where I took it from and after 5minutes I was lead there in front of the notebook! I grabbed it and my mom asked me what are you going to do with this and I said idk I want to write things in it...and somehow I am here sitting in my bed watching you to how to journal for self growth and I told okay that is my fate Period !!!

i totally agree with rereading books you learned a lot from or had the most impact from. i did that recently and realized how much more information i missed out on because it didn’t make sense in the moment so when i reread certain books it gave me new perspectives to apply to my life and things started clicking, connecting the dots to other things i recently learned. you never know what new information starts making more sense when you reread. 🙌🏽

I absolutely love journaling. I have been doing it for years and I didn’t really realize how important and valuable it is. I was just doing it to survive, literally, it was the only thing that kept me going at times. Sometimes I fill up a journal in two weeks or less (college ruled composition notebooks are what I use) . And not many of them are the same, I don’t follow a pattern, I just write...sometimes it’s all feelings and thoughts, sometimes it is just notes on what I am reading or studying (Sidhartha favorite novel, science and practice of humility favorite self help book). But I am realizing that the most important thing is that I just write!!!

My favorite thing I took away from this was the concept of are you really doing it for yourself or are you inspired through someone else's experience or however you worded that. That was a really good topic to touch on. I have been trying to start journaling my emotions and finding new ways to word that it is ok to have those. I am a very emotional person and I would like to use that tool to help me make mediation videos. I've always hated the fact that I was such an emotional person but I'm finding a way to use it as power not defeat.

Let's boost that algorithm! Totally agree with re-reading favorite books. I write the month and year in the front of the book each time. Am amazed how certain books sustain me during some of the most challenging times. Also make notes in the margins. Thanks for sharing the real you!

    Hey Clark,
You are the best teacher ever :)
I used that method to start cooking. First, I inumerate the supermarket list and went grocery shopping, and then at home, I put the ingredients together.
Now I cook without make lists or look at recipes. Also, I decided I would just cook meals for 10 or 20 minutes no longer. No oven. Salads if i want to save money on hydro. Has been a journey.
    :)

The journaling tip I like the best is to journal when you wake up to start the day off or before going to bed so you can process things and unwind.

I was a journaling kid all the way up to middle school. Became slow at journal in high school. And then from college and forward, I haven't journaled. Starting up journaling again, but yeah I like doing things the right way so Im taking a look at the journaling videos! I forget how powerful it is to write it all down to change yourself!

The two items that stick out for me is to write 100 questions to unlock the creativity within you and to reread a book that you found valuable at least 10 times over. I appreciatethe advice.

Bruh, you have given me inspiring ideas for self growth. I recently had an idea that would increase my potential for self growth and personal empowerment and self exploration as well as learning by embedding ideas for change is by taking one book (to start) that has inspired you the most and clearly hand writing it (copy word for word) in a journal or a series of journals.
For example: After reading and studying this gem over and over again from cover to cover The Art Of War by Sun Tzu now copy/print it out in out in a journal. Writing it out seems so much more effective and therapeutic as well relaxing. This allows me further studying its contents until it is thoroughly ingrained in my thoughts. But dont let it become an obsession. Never let your hobbies become obsessions. They should only be life enhancers. Just take an hour or two or just a half hour. instead of watching tv, spend that time on a hobby.

You can also stick pictures into the journal. It's an automatic visualization. Seemingly it has worked for me. Use different colors write diagonally and add drawings... Make your journal an inspiring fun place to go to

Really great advice. I had just myself reached the conclusion. Don’t read more personal development books. Revisit what you’ve got and make them your own through journaling. First one of your journals I have seen but now subscribed and going out to buy a notebook to turn into my first journal.
