5 years after you made this and it helped me a lot. I bought a cheap 10ii dig transmission, and this took all the slop out of the input shaft. Good stuff right here.
The only flames here are the ones in my heart for you! Seriously, THANK YOU. It's ridiculous that Axial has an issue with this, and that we still have to fix it in brand new models in 2024.
Hi Great video, had exactly the same issue with my Axial crc (not that old !!) and I've done exactly the same to bearings ( same as you been a mechanic for 25yrs good trick !) I also found a spacer that fitted ( interference fit) inside the plastic housing of spur gear shaft and drilled a 5mm hole in it for shaft seems to work , time will tell 👍👍
Another extra you can add is a bearing behind the spur gear as it only has the one on the 'box itself,I had a bearing kicking about that was a snug push fit and a proper fit on the shaft. Makes a difference to the gear alignment and also makes it a little smoother! I know they were made to a price but I'd have paid an extra couple pounds at purchase for the benefit. Also instead of stressing the plastic gearcase, thin super glue will do the job and fill the gap,a light wipe with grease or light oil on the bearing will stop it from sticking in but the glue will fill the gap nicely! Give it a go if you feel confident,I use a specialist bearing glue on bike engines that helps with slack bearing housings so a similar thing, and not everyone has a tube of bearing glue but super glue works just don't forget the grease or oil!
@@BMJAUDI no problem,I'm new to these,I've heard they're good trucks but the lack of support behind the spur was a shock! I've also got a cross RC demon, now that's a crawler! Both rugs needed some work but happy with both. And the cross demon coming in at a shade under 4kg it's a heavy rig and will go just about anywhere. Keep up the good work! Derrick.
Thanks for your explanation, but I wish that the transmission of the crown could help me to have more force to climb rocks stronger better for my 2 speed transmission for an alxial SCX 10 2 1/10 Rc and a pinion for a 550 35T engine
Really ticks me off that we have to do this to an expensive toy, seems like Axial has dropped the ball on quality lately, getting to be the Matchbox of the RC world.
I have experienced this issue on every single 3 gear I've owned. Vp and hot racing cases included. I have a secret that adds a 3rd bearing to the top shaft. Eliminating all slop.

Thanks Carlos. Glad it helped! Happy RC’ing

Ha! That's good. You are very welcome! Glad this video could help.

That’s a really great tip Derrick! Thanks for sharing that.

Pretty damn smart. Might just have to do this.
JJ Keaton Thanks! It has continued to work perfectly and keep all that excess slop out of driveline.
Thank you for Great tips..

Thanks for these info and tips. .🙏😊
This looks amazing I will do this
Thanks for the good information sir also the video is well done
I'm reading the comments and your replies. Are you saying this held up for over two years and still no slop in the bearings?
Yes, It will last a long while.
Great tip, thanks for sharing 👍
Good idea im going to to try with a plastic bag might hold up a bit better if i get it wet
Plastic bag is a great idea!
That would be too thin
won't the grease eat the paper ?
There’s really no grease between the housing and bearing. Have had no issues running like this and things are still nice and tight with no slop
Would aluminium foil work better? My scx10 ii kit was the same and also made a clicking noise
That could be worth a try but might be too thick! Maybe not if you buy the off brand stuff? Would hold up better than paper. Good thinking
Nice!
This pisses me off. Is the kit the same way????
I think the kit trans is different. It still may have the same slop issue though! Hopefully someone else on here can weigh in on it.

I couldn't agree with you more!!

R u kidding me, lol that's ridiculous, I'm going to get the trx4 instead
