I followed you because I'm in your Camaro club. Little did I know you'd have a review for the same brand of helmet (Icon Airflite) that I ordered yesterday, lol. Feel a little bit better about my purchase. Will be my first bike.
Appreciate the video, I've ridden my Quicksilver for about five years too and I still wear it though I have Arai and Shoei as options. I don't have any complaints other than the chin vent - very hard to open and close while wearing the helmet. I usually wear earplugs so I don't notice the loudness and I think it vents just fine. It looks so badass too so I keep it in my rotation. Make sure it fits your head though - it's long and narrow and for whatever reason fits my head as comfortably as my rounder lids from Arai and Shoei, go figure, maybe I got a universal head lol
@@RideWithDanger yep, so many people bag on it as cheap and crappy but Icon did a good job with it. I'm actually thinking about getting the MIPS version in gloss gold.
Great video. I just received my Airflite from STG on a Closeout. It looks badass in person and I really love the looks. The only issue is the fit. I wear a 7 1/8 in hats and I ordered a Medium and it is very tight. I also wear a Medium in my RF1400 and that feels comfortable with no pressure points. I'm on the fence on whether or not I'm gonna return my Airflite and exchange for a bigger size. I've worn it for several 20 minute intervals and idk. If it were to break in a bit it would probably be a lil more bearable. Entry is even super tight But great vid bro. Enjoy and ride safe. Yeah that GA weather does feel like 130, I'm here in Gwinnett and golly this past weeks been brutal.
Mine did "break in" a bit with some pressure points but it does have a weird shape that doesn't fit everyone. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Ride safe brother, and stay cool!
Used the Airflite for 2 years. Used a silver iridium visor so didn't really need the interior sun shield (which actually caused warped vision, not sure if that was a defect on mine or how it usually is). Got used to the heft of it and I liked the look of it for a year or so but I started to like the normal visor aesthetic again. Went and tried on a Shoei NXR 2 (RF-1400 in the US) and the padding is just so much more comfortable, looked meaner (in my opinion), and it felt as if I wasn't even wearing a helmet at all with how light it was compared to the Airflite. After purchasing it, it's much warmer for the winter and wind noise is barely noticeable anymore. I also wear glasses and the Icon would press my glasses against my temples and bent the frames so now in the NXR 2, since they are loose, they actually have room and tend to fall down off my face which excited me because now I can get a nice pair of glasses without having to worry about them getting destroyed by my helmet. Note that the NXR 2 is, however, double the price of the Airflite. I wouldn't be able to go back to the Icon, though -- it's that good. The Icon is a good helmet for its price, but I wish I just went with the top of the line from the beginning. My dad is enjoying my Icon Airflite now, haha.
I use the RST red visor so the drop down shield isnt needed for me either. I don't notice any warped vision though. The Shoei RF-1400 is probably a nicer helmet all around, but more expensive and in my opinion doesnt look as cool. Glad you are enjoying the upgrade though! I may consider upgrading if I rode more than I do, but ive been happy with this for 5 years so far lol.
Hey, so you can order a pair of glasses from "flying eyes". I would definitely check them out. Their frames are made thinner for that exact reason. To fit in the foams and not be uncomfortable. They're also made with a super flexible. . .poly. . . something. . .but they bend and don't break they're literally perfect riding glasses for us four eyes
@@freddyarmenta9338 That would've been good for the Icon or any other helmet that doesn't have a cutout for glasses, but the Shoei I got accommodates us four eyes from the factory, works a charm!
I've had a couple icons and I just wish they could male this model in an intermediate oval. Had to go up a size from my last icon to get this one to fit
My Krom saved my life 100% still had some bad bleeding on the brain but better than getting smashed open on the concrete culvert my head smashed into, noone was wearing the airflite in my area but me at that time now i see em everywhere
Hey, can you speak to the durability of the shield... just read a bunch of reviews that the color flakes off after one ride or a microfiber will scatch it all to hell... anyway, just ordered one and now im figuring im gonna end up riding clear...
I am still wearing the original shield from years ago, even though it was dropped and scratched. Nothing has flaked off and it's held up perfect fine. I can't speak to all colors but this one has been flawless.
@SectoRus that's weird. Mine is not like that. It's been over 5 years and it's still fine. Not AS clear as my new one but not bad enough to want to switch it out.
That is a cool helmet for sure. I've seen a few before but didn't realize how many options and colors they had
Yeah theres a ton of options on these and I love the helmet!
🔥 I actually like how the gopro goes up with the visor, just looks cool to me
Pretty sweet helmet. it definitely has a road presence that most others dont
True dat!
I do hate the internal sun visor, discovered if you usually keep it up it blocks the top of the airflow from coming into the helmet.
Yeah, you can always remove it if you don't use it. Kinda a weird design flaw though.
This is the type of comments that are great. Thanks for the info.
Indeed think I have the rubatone silver and I love it I’ve had it for about 2 years now I don’t plan on upgrading👍

Ayeee that's awesome! It's still my daily helmet and I enjoy it. It's not the BEST but I have no complaints about it

Yessir, glad you like the video. I've always considered getting more helmets but this is just my go to and never let's me down.

I'm still on my first visor 🤣 I have a second one but never attached it yet lol
@@RideWithDanger even if raining and i clear my visor with a arm its scratching insanely

When the other video of the guy from Texas. Says his Scorpion modular helmet is quiter then this Icon helmet. Yeah no the helmet only for looks.
Its not ONLY for looks but that its main selling point. Its not the loudest helmet I have worn and its honestly not bad.
can you remove the sun visor?
Yes, it's removable.
@@RideWithDanger ok thank you man 👍
@kodras4808 no problem!
