Nice video. My gen 7 I've used SO MUCH since i got it like 10 years ago and still want to use it. Only works when plugged into power source. Im confident in my ability to do this but my soldering skills are god awful. Soldering guitar cables hasnt gotten any better all these years later. Thank you
@@MarsMaster636 I installed a new battery and its working. I did mess up though. Cracked the screen protector and messed up the thin strip to connect the power button. I can replace the screen protector but im just happy its working so I'll hold off for now.

very impressive and detailed video, step-by-step. THANK YOU. My nano has been stuck on the Apple logo and i was going to throw it away...mind you i have ALL my music there...I thought of checking here to see if there was a fix and VOILA! i found your video. Now i am going to order the battery, and try to do this, and see if i can recover all my music! (will update after my attempt).
I normally just deal with the "classics" but i really love the 7th gen nano, but im not paying what most people are charging for them on ebay, plus you will probably have to either throw it or do this anyway at some point. THANK YOU for this, Ive subbed and confuident too that i can now buy a dead one and bring it back to life. Cheers. Looks really simplle but i bet its NOT. Cheers
I never be able to repair myself. I love my ipod nano 7th Gen. I am in Ottawa. Can you repair mine for fee? If not, Can you recommend a place for me to take and get it repaired Please? Thank you. You are doing a great job here in comparison to the videos I have seen! Ganga W
Hi, I followed all the steps but when it came to soldering the battery out it wouldn't come off easily so pried out while soldering. Put the new battery in but now it won't work at all. Any ideas? Did I pry out the connector pins? Is there anything I can do before I conduct the last rites? )-:
I have one from years back that just suddenly stopped taking a charge or lighting up or responding at all. It's like it suddenly wouldn't turn on or something. Do you think this would fix that?? I've always wanted to get it fixed and recover all my old music and photos and stuff
Apart from this step, everything was good. I think he uses superglue(secondglue). It's not so easy to get it open again and definitely damages the Bluetooth antenna.
Bro Im watching this and suddenly felt overwhelmed by how Humans made this, and now even normal people like me can come to youtube and watch how to renovate it and all, life is going on with a speed i can't comprehend
Hi, very helpful video I recently bought one of these with a battery problem and i’m gonna follow your steps to try to fix it, i’m new to soldering and wondering when you were lining up the new battery to the solder did you just heat up the metal you put on the battery to make them stick together? thanks a lot!
Basically. Be sure to preload the metal tabs on the battery with new solder, heat up the tab, then place a small amount of solder onto them. Careful when lining up the tabs, and do not put too much solder.
I have issue of hang with language settings.. everytime we faced complete hang on language section..means language page we can't go further to click on "done" what to do
Do you have a suggestion or link for a known reliable source for replacement batteries? I am reluctant to trust anything from ebay unknown sources. many batteries i have gotten there have been terrible
Hi! How can I sign up for an ipod repair? I’ll purchase the battery and pay for needed tools if necessary. I just found mine from way back when and it won’t hold a charge
hi again, so I did it , but I l accidentally put too much iron to a point where it’s just a blob on the battery part would it be fine if i left it as is? I cannot seem to figure out a way to remove it
As long as the solder is not jumping into the other tabs (connecting negative to positive) you should be okay. To remove excess solder just heat up the solder and use a copper wire to extract the excess.
Thanks for video👍 My ipod bluetooth connection is weak. When it is in my pocket, music can freeze or just lost till bringing it very close to my airpods. Could the reason be battery or just bluetooth is already older on these devices?
They are either black or white, depends on actual color of iPod. If you are having problems connecting to that port then it does need to be changed. I can make a video of that if needed…
@@TheFixTech That would be great! I bought my iPod on eBay and I think it was refurbished and I think they took out the white plastic part that covers the inner circle port. And now the connection messes up easily and distorts the sound. I'd like to keep this iPod for as long as possible. :)
@@TheFixTech I would be interested in seeing a video on replacing the headphone port, please. I bought a replacement assembly, and would like to know how the ribbon connects to the main board. Is it soldered?
Could you please provide some soldering tips for replacing the headphone jack? The flex ribbon connection to the board is so small/delicate, and seems like there is high risk of ruining the ribbon.
I am trying this now an when trying to get the screen out it is seperating the digitizer from the screen. I stopped because I didn't want to break anything and when I pressed it back together the digitizer does not work as intended now :(
Sorry if this is late but you should keep your battery between 20-80%. Leaving it dead or fully charged for long periods of time will destroy the battery.
Everything was going good until that last part where you crazy glued the fucking BT shield😂🥴 Seriously just use some good double sided sticky tape. That way when the battery goes out again you can fix it again.
Since 2 years I m using with power bank.. but since 2 days ipod nano 7th is completely hang on language section during click on "done" at language section..what to do?
I'd assumed running Bluetooth on my Nano 7 was what was draining it sooo quickly. (I bought it 2nd hand, last year) Guessing now the fact that its battery is probably so old, its pretty hard to get though just one album without it dying on me?
OH NO. DONT USE THAT SUPER GLUE! now it will never be able to open in the future. that glue drys too hard, you need a softer glue like what was included with the ipod. MEGA oops on your part my dude >.>
This is extremely careful in detail, I literally watched it once and I’m confident in the order of disassembly and reassembly. Kick ass, subbed
Thanks!

The fumes from the solder are toxic to breathe in, correct?
Yes
Any updates?
Does the battery still works as the original?
Yes, it is important to purchase a quality battery from a reputable seller
Why is my ipod's inner circular port not white like yours?

Ebay has services

That's what I was thinking. I'd use the least sticky glue I could so I could get it apart again. My nano spends 99.5% of it's life in a case, anyway.
Amazing
is it possible to increase the storage capacity?
no
