    Watching a wheel loader work off of improved grounds reminds me how much more productive and versatile a crawler loader is.

    Doesn't this Hough remind you of a Tonka loader in the sandbox ? Makes you wonder if in fact a Hough was the base model for Tonka loaders. Great knowing she's still earning her keep.

      I always thought the same thing. The way that the cab is attached to the front half of the machine.

    • @mikethorntonr1
      @mikethorntonr1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Had to be hough was the only one with cab on the front and weirdest story to it is that hough did a survey from alot of operators on what they would prefer and they told hough on the front so they did but for some reason it didn't pan out even though they asked the operators but if you use a fron cab machine and get use to it its much easier that your traditional style because your bucket is always in line of view for loading trucks new machines the pillars get in the way when you are turned and but takes a while to get use to baking up a hough but once you got it it is a better set up to use

    Great video PA. Love the old Houghs. Toughest loaders built back in the day. First ones with Z bar linkage which EVERY loader built now has. You do get use to the front mounted cab if your in one long enough. Case also had front mounted cabs when they released the W series machines as well as Massey Ferguson, Lorain and early JCBs and the big Dart 600 also had cabs mounted on the front frame half. Thanks for the video PA. Shes a rare machine these days , Great to see one still paying the bills.

      That would be the original 992 then the 992B as they were both rated at10 yds. The C version was rated at 12.5 yds so it became larger than the 400 Hough.

      @mikethorntonr1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah certain companies are very crucial about any slippage so as a operator you always try not to but then you have some places that make so much money they just want the job done now and don't care lmao been at both but honest to god if you ran a hough there a different beast they push like no other so trying to get a hough not to spin is really hard they just wanna go if you know what I mean

      @@mikethorntonr1 I HEAR you! I ran a Kawasaki 115 Z-IV with a QSK putting out around 410 horses and you had to feather foot it or it'd cut the tires off it. I learned how to work it but it was the bucket that made it or broke it and I know you know about that. 18 tons of crusher run regularly but it loaded the haul trucks when the shovel went down. But it was a bear. Keep burning diesel, Mile. BLESSINGS 2 U!

      Never ran a big girl like this but used to run an old army case W24C pulling sand out of a wall overseas. Very little throttle, the art of not spinning was the bucket curl, gotta load those front tires. I used to watch a guy at an old pit load a 980C almost at an idol that is what I tried to do too

      @@justinspaulding5636 Never ran any Case O.D. stuff but went t.d.y. at Ft. Knox and ran a test on an 1150 Case dozer. I think the 980 at the boulder hole was a D or E. Square hood and a 3208 engine. 10 ton bucket. Sweet old machine. Then a 980 G with a dry cab and a.c. and a heater AND a radio! That was my 1st dry cab and almost my 1st cab period. I started on a road job in 69 pulling a sheepsfoot. Then Army and out nd burning diesel ever since. Wasn't a 24C where the cab was on the fr5ont end instead of the back like a Cat? I remember seeing some somewhere and thinking I'd be going all over the place in it.

    I really don't like the tailwaggers, everytime I have driven one you have to keep your eye on the rear end whenever you are backing up, as soon as you don''t bang, you have have jack knifed it and the tail end is next to you.

    somebody needs to tell the operator that he is NOT driving a bulldozer but a loader.. why is he picking up the dirt then dumping it 4 feet away before backing up 20 feet to get another load to drop it another 4 feet away?? a huge waste of time and money.

      It appears he is breaking up a pile of very hard packed clay so it's easier to load, that way he can get a full bucket to Cary to wherever he is spreading it.

    • @iBackshift
      @iBackshift 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I dont know when the last time you shoved clay around like that. If the clay is going to be loaded in trucks, the way he's tilling up the clay, at least it will come out of the dump box and not need an excavator to scrape 1/2 the load out of it.
