This is really cool. If I didn't already have a fuzz I'd be all over this. I mean I use my couple fuzz box's to create similar tones, but I have have to do more tap dancing than I'd have to do with this.
amazing playing as always Andy! Tell John and Scotty thanks for shipping all of that guitar greatness to all of your buyers during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend :)
@aledelverne - This could easily be your main sound. There are whole genres of music based on this kind of sound. You need more Electric Wizard in your life. -PGS
@griyoudoo This is more akin to a phaser. To be a tad more technical: Flangers modulate by mixing in a delayed version of the dry signal, phasers modulate by layering an out-of-phase all-pass filter over your dry signal.
@FiveseveNp90 Well that depends on how many you have sitting in a warehouse. For example, The EHX DMM uses obsolete BBDs...which sound fantastic...luckily they have a warehouse full of them. Keep in mind "obsolete" doesn't necessarily mean not available.
@maneatingtoilets Hey, good amps will make these things sound even better. Preamp and powertube distortion plus fuzz can make for a powerful experience when compared to a crap transistor amp being pushed with a fuzz pedal. If you like clean jazzy chords with no effects that's your thing. Some people like to overwhelm the listener with distorted power chords and bass lines.
you probably answered this already....but what kind of expression pedal are you using? I bought a Moog EP-2 with this pedal and it doesn't work very well :/
@Guitarisforgrins Precisely. And the guitarists' hesitance to move on is pretty much the only thing keeping the valve industry (barely) alive. "Oh noes, now he's dissin' our beloved tube amps! Stone him!" Oh, wake up and smell the coffee. It's not 1950 anymore.
@malekko1 You know what, I'm not gonna argue hipster aesthetics with you. I guess unrpairable gear will be worth more on eBay 10 or 20 years from now. In the world of electronics and technology in general "obsolete" means "no-one in their right mind would keep using these components so we're gonna stop making them". Nothing personal, it's a cool effect and seems solidly built. And I know how gullible guitarists are and how they just love mojo components, but it just seems... wrong.
I will say something that wont make me too popular.... Who wants a sound like that? I mean, with all the gorgeous and expressive valve tones you can have... why try to sound like a broken amp? I can understand there may be a place for a sound like that in a passage or for some psychedelic bits, but just bits. I cant be your main sound. I am not necessarly refer to this particolar Fuzz, I talk about that kind of sound in general. A Fuzz Face or a Tone Bender are different. just my opinion
@FiveseveNp90 Dude, come on. Have you ever played a solid-state amp at a gig, while your bandmate is playing through a valve amp and you're both cranked? I have. There is literally no contest. There's a reason people are so defensive over tube amps, and it's due to the simple reason that they sound better.
Another winner for Malekko. (Dang! Just one more pedal to buy!) I like that more pedal makers are adding an expression input. It's a great trend.
It baffles me how well Andy plays...and then I remember he does it without a pick. Whoa.
I love the song Dogs so much. And Andy plays it so wonderfully.
What makes you guys awesome, is that you don't just strum some generic rock ballads, you actually test all pedals to their fullest
There is a huge variety of different fuzz tones out there and each one does it a little differently. Half the fun is having a bunch to choose from!
Man... I love unique pedals like this! What a great concept (the expression pedal controlled filter). Props to Malekko.
Another great video from PGS and great playing from Andy really makes my day when I come home and listen to your riffs. Keep up the good work guys.
Mix of Rusty Cage and You Think You Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire? Schweet.
Thanks for using brand name guitars! Helps a lot in my purchasing decisions!
This is really cool. If I didn't already have a fuzz I'd be all over this. I mean I use my couple fuzz box's to create similar tones, but I have have to do more tap dancing than I'd have to do with this.
Yeah! Don't be afraid to get these Fenders bak into these demos! You could even use SGs in your pedal demos...
That's such a sexy pedal!!! I love your videos by the way!
God i love that pedal... best fuzz i've heard, if anyone can think in one that's better let me know
i love that beautiful hagström. i'm seriously considering buying the tremar-version of it
nice to see you playing a Hagstrom! I own a Super Swede, and its my main guitar. I love it.
If I wanted a fuzz, this would be the one I would want.
Sounds, crazy but at the same time cool!
amazing playing as always Andy! Tell John and Scotty thanks for shipping all of that guitar greatness to all of your buyers during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend :)
i have to say... for having a really cool brand name, malekko has rather uncreative pedal names... that being said this thing fuckin rocks!!!
Gotta have it! I suppose I could get a similar sound with my Big Muff and a phaser but you can never have too many pedals.
"You need more Electric Wizard in your life."
Amen.
@FiveseveNp90 Quoted straight from Malekko "unearthed obsolete parts from a bygone era, carbon comp resistors and new old stock components.."
By the way, Andy, you're doing an AWESOME job!
LOVE that Hagstrom Swede !
Probably not something I would use but it sounds cool! Great playing as usual, Andy!
A little QotSA? me likey... sounds killer playing that riff.
@aledelverne - This could easily be your main sound. There are whole genres of music based on this kind of sound. You need more Electric Wizard in your life.
-PGS
Dang! QOTSA and St. Vincent! Andy has the best demos!
i was sold after i heard rusty cage by soundgarden :D
the intro sounds like a synth
Sounds fine with that Tele
If Josh Homme ever lost his hands in some accident then he can hire Andy to fill in his guitar parts.
Am I the only one who noticed the amazingly done Dogs guitar solo?
@griyoudoo This is more akin to a phaser. To be a tad more technical: Flangers modulate by mixing in a delayed version of the dry signal, phasers modulate by layering an out-of-phase all-pass filter over your dry signal.
that fuzz filter is SO DIRTY!!!!
Cool Stoner-riffs!
queens of the stone age!!!!!!
I needed to have a shower after watching this because I felt so dirty.
dogs was so beautiful...
best opening song
It's worth it for the Mustang II Cobra artwork alone.
@FiveseveNp90 Well that depends on how many you have sitting in a warehouse. For example, The EHX DMM uses obsolete BBDs...which sound fantastic...luckily they have a warehouse full of them. Keep in mind "obsolete" doesn't necessarily mean not available.
Thumbs up if you think ProGuitarShop should give us information about all the guitars and amps used in trying out the pedals.
What's all the song you played in this video I like all of them pleas tell me the names of all of the video all sound cool
hey pgs, what brand/model is the funky looking oly white telecaster at 0.50?
With the G&L, it's almost exactly the John Frusciante tone
@maneatingtoilets

Nice.
Yeah it sounds so familiar but I cannot place it
What is the second riff played in the video from? Sounds very familiar.
What is better from Oregon; Agalloch or PGS? Both are epic.

cool graphic
you probably answered this already....but what kind of expression pedal are you using? I bought a Moog EP-2 with this pedal and it doesn't work very well :/
I'm currently torn between this and the zvex fuzz factory. Anybody out there own both?
I admire your fast footswitching! Or are your feet maybe invisible ... hmm
the phase shift added needed rhythm. but one then runs into problems like pete townsend did with robo synth tracks.
wow qotsa awsome
What is the first and last guitar?
How it sound with bass?
Rastyyyyy Cage!
GIMME SOME MORE!!!
Stoner for the win!
@FiveseveNp90 You realize that tube amps use "obsolete components" right?? THAT'S WHAT TUBES ARE!
Black Keys!
@HenryJackification Depends on the fuzz. In my experience, Big Muffs lose some of their character though a cranked amps.
Very soundgarden
Amp used?
Someone get this man some Fu Manchu!
@binladensassassin What song is it!
Dogs
gimme some more!
'Handmade in Portland OR' - why did no one stick a bird on it and call it art?
@Guitarisforgrins Precisely. And the guitarists' hesitance to move on is pretty much the only thing keeping the valve industry (barely) alive.
"Oh noes, now he's dissin' our beloved tube amps! Stone him!"
Oh, wake up and smell the coffee. It's not 1950 anymore.
Gilmour !
Truckfighters!
He's not always trying to mimic songs exactly. People.
MXR 10 BAND EQ, just lower the frequencies you don't want ;)

Me likey Andy....
chuck norris went to guitar center and saw how bad it sucked... that he gave it a roundhouse kick and turned it into proguitarshop.
