    No matter where I travel, I have always had tools confiscated even if there were not blades on them. Looks scary or "potentially dangerous"? It is their discretion and usually the person is uninformed or does not care. From my experience I just leave these types of things in the car.

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      true, I've had same situation. But I've been other places were I could carry them because they were bladeless.

      I gotta agree, any tool I EDC, goes in the luggage (if checked) or left at home/car if I am just doing carry on. Just not worth the risk if a TSA agent decides my “TSA approved” tool is just too scary.

    • @mingshey
      @mingshey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It could be that it was too cool that the personnel wanted to rob you of the tool.

    • @heart4Pahoa
      @heart4Pahoa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mingshey I chose to see people as doing their best for good, until they prove me wrong. I imagine there is a lot of pressure and responsibility for those TSA personnel. I don’t always agree with them, but I respect their position.

      Came to say the same thing, mostly from checked bags. Even had knives and zippos taken that were unused and still in the original packaging. Airlines really need to start buckling down on this. I've worked at MANY airports installing conveyors, a lot of the employees in the baggage handling areas have minimal background checks if they are an immigrant. As a native citizen we had 10-20 year background check,depending on if working in customs. For them to work for TSA they had a 30 day background check. I just don't understand how downright thievery is acceptable at an area that is considered high risk/high security to national safety.

    I didn't know that tool, but it's exactly what I've been searching to pair with a victorinox!
    I edc (and use) a wave and it's blades, and sometimes I just want to go "light" but I feel naked without pliers...

    What a great little tool! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Too bad that you’re paying for the useless clip thingy. From the look of it it’s probably a good part of the production cost. Imagine what price they could come down to when offering only the tool. That could be a companion peace for many EDCs.

    Hell if it was just pliers and wire cutter that small and the folding parts were just handles it would still be cool. Thanks for putting it on the radar.

    It kind of reminds me of a bigger version of the Sebertool M4 from Severtech, but not as good because it's not American made.
    At least in my opinion, because the Sebertools were the best mini multitools ever made.

      I currently have the m4, and the m2.
      I've had an M3 that I gave to a friend, my first m2 that I modified into a needle nose I gave away, and a 3rd NOS m2 I also gifted.
      When I find something I really like I often find myself gifting them.
      The only one I have never had is the i2 seberknife, which is literally just the knife handle of the m4.
      They seem to be pretty rare and hard to come buy, but I can't say I'd really find much use for it since I don't put things on my keys.
      I'd have to track one down and try it to see if it can make a good small pocket knife.
      I'm one of those crazy people who will carry a small pocket knife the size of a Vic classic as my only knife and not feel lacking.

    I got a something similar to this from a famous chinese website (not the big 1, the other famous 1) b4 I knew what a sog sync was. I actually saw a youtube vid by someone else about this and thought damn, that looks familiar lol! Doesn't have scissors, belt buckle or upraised pivot & has a knife instead but apart from that it's nearly a carbon copy.

    What the size when it unfolded? Since if its is bladeless does not mean that it could be taken into the plane - TSA will not allow Wrenches/Pliers longer than 7 inches.

    I wonder if a Victorinox scissors could replace the one in the SOG? Maybe the one in the Tool Card? Wonder if Leatherman Wave pivot would be right size for center?
    Do not let TSA take your tools! Carry a self-addressed priority mail envelope. Ask them to drop it in the mail to you. I have gotten 3 back that way. Alxo, print out TSA reg and show it to supervisor at check in. Sometimes you win that way.

    The pliers are nice. I have the version with the knife. Tools are trash in my opinion. The locking mechanism is very piss poor. When you accidentally flip all tools out on one side you have to manually pull the locking mechanism back and disengage the tools. Very very frustrating.

  • @johnsmith-sy2jg

    Would never buy it as it has no knife. And would never travel with a multitool that could be confiscated by the TSA at their discretion, regardless of whether it had a blade or not. If I air travel, I'd have pliers, large flathead screwdriver, a box cutter with blade removed, and a prybar. TSA won't confiscate those.

  • @edwardfletcher7790

    You can NOT rely on the TSA to be logical. They're just a fast food server playing a security guard.... SIGH
