      Both would do the job. The setup wizard night be easier on the ender, but ultimately, you'd be running propriety firmware on a more expensive unit to perform the same tasks. It's totally up to you, though.

I've made it through lots of failed prints, a few blobs, and some print head disassembly. I'm not sure if I should buy a klipper pad, or just get another printer with klipper on it. Got one a few days ago. After 10+ hours of work, its working, probably as good as my printer worked with Octiprint after maybe an hour's work. I'm not sure if my pad was returned by someone else or not. It did boot up like yours, but the install was messed up. Can you go to System, then auto-update everything? Mine didn't. I followed the minimal does from BTT, downloaded the latest image, and that one was messed up also. Had to uninstall it all and reinstalled everything, and now it works, mostly. It seems to freeze now and then. Overall, its a oversized Octoprint. For a bed-slinger, CR-6 SE with a BTT board, not a lot of speed or quality gains are possible. The big color screen is nice, but I access things remotely mostly anyway. In fact in one way its worse than before. Before I could save on an SD card and print from that. Not possible anymore. Maybe it can print from a USB stick? So if you are going to buy one of these, ask yourself why. Maybe you can't find a Raspberry Pi I guess.

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd contact BTT about it. I didn't/don't have any of these issues, so you might have a dud. Did you run resonance tuning and do pressure advance tests? Klipper isn't "plug in and be twice as fast", it requires a little work. I can print two times as fast with better overall part quality pretty consistently on my machines after some basic tuning and since I like to tinker, klipper offers more streamlined tweaking and tinkering because there's no having to change, compile, change, compile, repeat... You simply modify printer.cfg. As far as printing from external media, you should be able to print from usb. I'd even go as far as to say you could print from sd with a usb adapter, but i haven't tried. All of my prints are sent via WiFi. My issue with Octoprint was it was either you could run from the screen or from octoprint. You couldn't have both. With klipper, overall integration is much better, imo.

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The USB basically decodes the signal to uart for the main board anyway, so that gets taken out of the mix and it eliminates the USB cable from the front of the machine, which just looks better aesthetically. Uart is also more reliable than USB on these boards, per Makerbase.

I know about lighter beds, Linear rails, hotter Hot Ends, but If i can add things over time, is it best to start here and pay for tech support. Tiny Machines offered 2 hours of on line setup for $100 if i buy the Pad 7 from them for $140. Can they do the set up in 2 hours?? I can and want to go ahead but I don't ever want to do this more than once. Do i still use OctoPrint??? Or is there Klipper functions that replace it? Thank You, Now can you do a print performance comparison for Pad 7 versus Stock versus Pi and Octoprint Versus Sonic Pad Versus 4.2.7 upgrade mother board plus Pi and OctoPrint??????? Its a little messy for us Users not PhD In Geekoid! Thank You Dennis in Virginia at You Tube, Frankentrain Laboratories.

      How funny, I'm in Virginia right now as well but heading back to New Jersey in a little while.
      If you have a pi, you don't need a pad7. You can install the kiauh script on your pi and install klipper from there. Then you'd only have to flash the board binary file for your printer and load the proper config file. You can even continue to use octoprint on klipper, but it's more resources intensive than the other webui available (fluidd or mainsail). After a proper setup and tuning, the machine will be able to achieve better quality prints at higher speeds. Conservative numbers are about 2x as fast, but it depends on your filaments as well.
      I should start charging for my tech support. I'm constantly doing it for free 😂😂

    No, not a sonic pad killer. Sonic Pad is plug and play, and that's what the consumer market want. Big Tree is dick around setting it up and not, as you claim, plug and play (Read your comments for a good example of people frustrations with it, they think you're BTT Tech support lol)
    Sonic Pad is the Sonic Pad killer. All/most next gen 3D Printers will start to be rolled out with Klipper pre-installed avoiding the need for an external pad. Most people don't care for Klippers super-extra features (but they will come to the pad eventually).
    And Marlins goose is pretty much cooked I think.

    • @TheFeralEngineer
      @TheFeralEngineer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not plug and play for Elegoo printers. Their make menuconfig doesn't have the necessary bootloader offsets and the sonic pad uses modified software. I prefer using something that runs a public version of Klipper, has the full make menuconfig options and a library of predefined cfg files for multiple makes and models.
      I do agree that as klipper gains popularity, these devices will slowly go away, but there will be a market for them for the foreseeable future in the millions of Marlin based systems that can be changed over to klipper easily.

      $130 to double or triple the speed on my stock N2S and N3 is a pretty compelling argument. There are tons of non klipper machines that aren’t just going to disappear because new machines come out. There will be a market for this for a while.
