love how bambu has made every company in the space step their game up a bit. great machine for the price; love how thorough your reviews are
@@MrBaskins2010 I was afraid the length would shy people away. I need to timestamp it. I do agree that it forced a wave in the industry, but they're still assholes.
I don't believe that Bambu Lab inspired the creators of this printer. I have their previous version (Ghost 6), and they just did all the people wanted and changed by themselves (including me) in Ghost 6. An exception is the extruder - I don't know why they left the old version without even minor updates.
@@igorchyk09 probably marketing reasons or a switch of OEM that is building the machine for them. Let's face it, none of these printer companies build their own stuff, it's mostly 3rd party design teams, OEMs and the like. Makerbase used to produce their own printers and I think they pretty much just private label most of the ones on the market now. Even sovol is just dipping into the creality parts bin for most of their stuff.
big assholes.
@@igorchyk09 the greater point is, before the X1C, it was endless repetitions of an i3. Tiny little advances. Then Bambu made a machine that was crazy good, then another one at a lower price point, then another, and another. They drove the quality and features up and made cheaper versions than the first one. Everyone now must be fast and have auto z and bed level. Etc.
those ar big nema 17s stepper motors on the xy ! nice and the extruder simple nice ! klipper nice ! screen nice ! overall quality frame nice ! love it.... drivers can be replaced nice !
The instructions say to leave the door open and hat off with PLA. You will get clogs when printing PLA with those closed.
@@bspages didn't have any issues with clogging during prints, I had issues with clogging when trying to remove the filament from the extruder. It would heat up and stretch the filament like salt water Taffy, the little piece would cool and swell on the cold side of the heatbreak and I'd have a clog.
@@TheFeralEngineer I got the same machine. It's a great machine when working right. There is an issue with it printing side to side or using the whole printable area. It would crash and give you a firmware warning. It will ask you to reboot the firmware. The OEM knows about this issue, and they are not willing to fix it., so you will not be able to use the entire print area. They could be better at customer service and support. Please stay away if you are new to 3D printing; you must learn to troubleshoot it yourself. I am new to OrcaSlicer. I used CURA (Marlin), so there was a little learning curve, but only a little. Once you get this dail in, it's a crazy printing machine. I only print with PLA or PETG on this machine. I got the QIDI Plus4 for the more abrasive filaments. When changing the filament - keep advancing the filament by pushing the button a lot. This will prevent it from cooling down and clogging the nozzle. It's cheap, and print quality is excellent for printing prototype parts. I will be buying 2 more.
Great video! Thanks for posting.
Awesome review! Question : Have you ever tried printing multi color(s) ? I'm not sure what to plug in for a change filament G-Code in Orca Slicer. Keep up the great work, cheers. : )
@@ryankingston7733 I haven't, but pause/resume is baked into klipper, so it should be pretty simple
@@TheFeralEngineer Perfect! thank you for pointing that out, I will give that a go for sure. Thanks again. : )
Random comment but I think your cat profile picture is awesome :)
@@funnycat754 he is quite the handsome fellow
Nice review, Will you review the new qidi plus4, it looks like a good value printer.
I'll see what I can do
@@mohistschool1003 they said my numbers aren't high enough for their liking and do not wish to work with me. Like, subscribe and share! 😆
Just found your channel - great job! Subbed
Welcome aboard! 🐱🐱
I'm going to order one of these along with the extra stuff that's available all at one time. It would be nice if the hotend was upgradable. Thanks. Ive been also thinking of the QIDI Q1.
What's there to upgrade? Volcano nozzle, bimetal heat break, ceramic heater, cooper block.
@@TheFeralEngineerI prefer a single nozzle heatbreak combo similar to a REVO type.
@@billkaroly you could swap the entire cartridge. They're for sale on their website for
@@TheFeralEngineer The interior fans and filter set, is one!! For only a few dollars more!
So would this be one of those printer that people will find a way to flush vanilla klipper?
@@maus9777 it's already begun, actually. I found a GitHub project last night that people are working on. Frankly, if they release the source code, I'd have no qualms about dumping straight klipper onto it and running it from the ktouch full time.
ya. need root and to publish the source.
@@derekfarealz it's basically running the makerbase armbian Linux that's on the makerbase mkspi GitHub page with some special settings to utilize the tjc HMI. Being that it's a makerbase skipr, I'm assuming the proper source will be released soon
@@TheFeralEngineer any chance of a link to that project?
What about noise? You make no mention of it. Do fans run even when not printing? And how loud is the machine when printing, door open and closed?
@@TNX255 you can hear it moving around as you would any high speed printer, but it's not offensive. I'll try and get some numbers for you. I have a dedicated print room so I never really hear my machines
@@TheFeralEngineer Many of us have small apartments and run our printers in an area where we spend lots of time otherwise as well, and oh too many a cheap printer manufacturer completely ignores any attention to quietness of their products.
@@TNX255 This machine is pretty quiet when it sits idle, but you definitely hear it on high speed moves. Printing is pretty quiet, it's just the 500mm/sec rapid movements that make a whizzing sound. The fans aren't overly obnoxious and with the cover on, it's still pretty quiet
@@TheFeralEngineer Thank you! That cloth top hat is probably effective at dampening some noise too.
@@TNX255 yeah, when it's enclosed, it's not all that bad. If noise is a real concern, I'd say 200mm/sec travel moves would keep it down a bit more
the "gyrations" are testing resonance.
@@davedempsey5282 humor sometimes doesn't translate through the Internet.
If you look at the printer.cfg, there are two macros that run when it does that, though. I don't see any resonance calls, just a bunch of G1 moves.
It looks like the price is creeping it's 329 right now.
It usually teeters between 309 and 329
$299 as of today.
I like a lot about this printer! The rear filament feed and build volume don't have me thrilled (I like 300mm^2 beds)
@@MechnoSferatu they promised me a larger one is coming. More than likely it'll be a rebranded reborn 3 because why reinvent the wheel?
For the price... WOW!
It sounds like…..self destruction mode
@@petermarkk1408 core machines tend to be a bit noisier than slingers because they're accelerating at 4 times the speed and able to rapid twice as fast
I am interested, but I definitely wont be a early buyer. I think waiting to see what this company develops would be the best mode. We need more +300 cubed printers of the style with not crazy cost.
They informed me that a larger one is coming. Flying bear has been around for a long time; Infimech is just their American subsidiary. I think if a 300 machine comes out, it'll more than likely be a rebranded reborn 3
im considering this or the sv08 even though I know theyre quite different machines. On a sidenote i see that the bambu labs bot accounts have shown up in the comments
@@UnboxTheSocks the sv08 has had some major growing pains, this thing has been almost bulletproof as much as it sounds like a bunch of malarkey coming from a "reviewer" (I'll never refer to myself as the 'i' word 🤮), it's totally the truth. It's a little bitchy at times but I've been pretty much able to start a print from my living room, check on it 3 hours later and I've got a finished print. There have been a couple things with brittle filament or running out mid print and not catching it, but even then, the bed is set up to stay on, which is nice. Where do you see bots?
@@TheFeralEngineer Thats pretty convincing. I think the sentiment towards the sv08 has been pretty positive lately as well but I could buy practically two of these for the price of an sv08.
I've noticed that any video that hints at bambu lab not being absolutely perfect gets bombarded with hate comments about it and you don't really see that with criticism about any other company and I think regular people don't care enough to defend bambu labs like that. So i think theres some campaign from bambu labs to try and deter youtubers from talking badly or something. Nathan builds robots and some viewers of his were talking about it and it makes sense to me. The comment on this video about it being dishwasher safe sounded kinda weird although maybe you mentioned that and I missed it
@@UnboxTheSocks ah okay I see what you mean. I've found a majority of Bambu users to just be a bunch of toxic, brainwashed idiots, so I don't really pay them any mind. Even negative engagement is still engagement, so their bullshit still drives up my numbers 😀.
Yeah, the TX has been pretty wonderful. I'm not saying it's perfect and I'll probably do the klipper 12 and 32gb Emmc mod to it (vivé la content!), but print results have been super predictable. I even ordered the accessories and I'm in the process of printing the parts for adding a drag chain. In the future, I may add the Oliver acrylic top mod as well.
Supposed to leave the doors open with PLA dude otherwise it wont cool it properly.
For something that small, it's moot. I ran the 8 hour print with the lid up. Heat rises.
I even actually ran a 6 hour print last night fully enclosed with zero issues.
looks like a flying bear s1. im guessing they just plaster their name and call it a day
@@marokg it is a flying bear S1. I point that out a handful of times in the video
Nice printer, especially for the price, but 220x220 is a bit too small for my taste
Agree. They did tell me a larger one is in the works. I'm guessing a rebranded reborn 3
@@TheFeralEngineer thanks for your Feedback!
Both Infimech and Flyingbear websites are full of grammatical errors and bad chinese english. Very suspicious if you ask me.
@@dtibor5903 the machine is top notch
It's nice that it's dishwasher safe, but would like to see the print quality compared to a Bambu P1/Carbon before declaring this bear flightworthy
@@PaulG.369 I don't have one to compare but others have made those exact videos
@@TheFeralEngineer
But... the title of your video
@@TheFeralEngineer wait, then how can you state in your thumbnail that its a "$309 bambu killer" when you don't have a Bambu Labs printer to compare? Talk about misleading your audience......
@@Dark-xz1im I put a question mark at the end and didn't compare it to the Bambu in the least bit. I was testing out a click-baity title for shits and giggles. Figured everyone else is doing it, so why not?
@@PaulG.369 I'm guessing nobody watches the videos and they just go for the titles. That was kinda the reason why I put that title.
Oh yeah. That things is tite!!
I've been running 6-8 hour prints through it with zero issues. I just updated the firmware and found the z offset screen for mid-print adjustments. It's a really good plug and play machine. I think my only issue right now is finding the setting I used in prusa to fix the sagging on my cubes
I think problem with infimech is parts
Unless there's some sort of catastrophic failure, I don't see there being any major issues. The screens are tjc, the boards are makerbase, the steppers kinda look. Like they were pulled from the elegoo parts bin, the belts and pulleys are available on Amazon and I'm sure the sleeve bearings are the same ones the ender 3v3ke uses
Plus, they have a ton of parts on their website
Bed is way too small
@@trekgod3 patience, my child
Unless it has plug and play multi material capability, it’s not a Bambu competitor
For single filament printing at a decent price, I'll take it. I hate bambu labs as a company, so I'd rather mess with an ender 3 constantly than print with one of their machines
Bambu became the industry leader the rest are followers
@@user-jh1mq2ih2u competition drives innovation
And look at them now, douchebags. They’ll be the first company to go to a paid subscription to even turn their goddamn printer on while using their iOS only certified app to do so.
If you're making videos please invest in a proper light and turn off your terrible LEDs. It's impossible to see any details on the printer
@@zihotki I spent 500 dollars on lighting and 3 grand on camera equipment. Problem is it looks great through the camera viewfinder and my laptop then looks like shit once it goes to TH-cam.
@@TheFeralEngineer Yes, different gamma settings for your editing computer. MACs vs PC's don't show the same brightness (gamma).
You need to calibrate your monitor with a cheap used Spyder box. Right now, your videos are a bit too dark. In your editing software, you may have builtin SMPTE color bars which you put on the timeline. Or download off the net. Then adjust your white/black levels in your editing software for proper level bars when your cursor in over the SMPTE bars.. If your software has a scope, even better. You can do it. Output H264 at 10mps or so. I've been shooting/ editing for 40 years so it natural for me.... What editing software do you use?
