When he meets Betty for the first time, he says, "Hyah, m'name's Archie, but call me Chick.'" Betty and Jughead call him "Chick" twice in the story, but they call him "Archie" more often, and the rest of the captions call him "Archie" as well. The "Chick" nickname was soon dropped.

If you seriously don't like a name, you don't bring it up unless you have to or something else makes you just indecisive enough (like maybe a formal setting) that you include both. They got it right with Jughead, keeping it undisclosed for a long time (not that it has to be a mystery but just using it constantly helped a lot.) Chick is an even less distinctive and not very intuitive name too, so it's probably for the best it disappeared.
I hope this leads to a Dilton Doiley spinoff series, where he’s a Ash Williams bumbling bad ass fighting supernatural forces, I would read that series in a heartbeat. That way he didn't have to come up with a convoluted explanation how Superman can interact with Dragon or Super-Patriot goes on a mission with Capt. America.
We need a Dilton + Josie and the Pussycats crossover where Dilton solves mysteries by running people over with cars and the Pussycats sing songs about him while it’s happening.

The Vampirelle Red Sonja crossover is actually really good. Can only recommend it. There are some really nice character moments between the two of them and I was really rooting for them as everything starts to fall apart.

Read this series and really enjoyed it! Been collecting some of the covers but it was one I put on my subscription list from the start at my local, some comics just give a vibe of 'you gonna like this'. I liked its tone, the art and sure, the cake is nice too but the setting just...worked well. I want another series of it.

Fun fact, Archie comics were one of the first things I read as a kid. Once I could read I read everything I could get my hands on which early on were my mom's Archie & Harvey comics.
I actually own this crossover twice, as I'm a huge fan of Sonya. My LCS only had a spotted number of the issues when I first learned of it. While ordering the three that I was missing the big books came out and I picked those up as well! Especially was nice as the wife and I were binging Riverdale at the time.
That '70s style artwork you reference for the yearbook pictures has turned up a few places outside of the Archie universe. Marvel once had a character called "Millie the Model" who went from a somewhat more typical comic appearance to a near-clone of the classic Betty and Veronica look. And then there was the porn comic "Cherry Poptart" who (if I remember correctly) never actually came right out and said who the characters were patterned after but it was pretty obvious.
Priest's run did a weirdly good job. That Draklon is just an alt dimension of Earth. Not only that but the closest thing to hell we do get is that Vampirella's mom works with a demon. Other than that she is an alien from Draklon.
I laughed at Harkness joke! I read this when it came out, and I liked it. I collect Archie and have read lots of their stuff. Never read Red Sonja or Vampirella but not knowing any of that didn't spoil it for me. Talking of changing the art style, the fact that it went totally classic Archie look in issue didn't work for me at all, because that was just too different to the rest of it. But that that was only one issue, and in hindsight I only now realise they set it up with that yearbook shot. I wonder if it would have gone on beyond issue twelve if not for covid? because that was a cliffhanger. I do recall reading a news story somewhere about an Archie/Flash Gordon crossover being announced. Also pre covid. So hope we get to see that one day.

By all means, please bring your comments on part 2. Yes I did buy every issue of this crossover, and most issues of any Vampirella or Red Sonja. There's also a six issue Conan/Wonder Woman series that has a nod to Red Sonja. Red Sonja and Spiderman also had at least one crossover.
Also the original Archie art style is very difficult to recreate. It’s deceptively simple in the sense that if one detail is off in a design it throws the entire style off.
