  • The OCPDS program is a rigorous class that provides educators with the research and preparation required when working with students that have a language-based learning disability.
Rigorous: The initial program is an intensive 12 week course that requires approximately 4-6 hours each week from all participants. Additionally, participants will have assignments that extend beyond the 12 weeks such as book reports, one case study, and 85 documented hours working with student(s). Candidates that wish to pursue Specialist Level certification will be required to participate in an additional 45 hours training.
Research: Participants read information and attend virtual lectures that cover a variety of current and seminal research on the Science of Reading. This research informs best practices for all reading instruction with an emphasis on those that have a language-based learning disability such as dyslexia.
Preparation: Each participant will interact in a professional learning community with a Neuhaus instructor. Throughout the 12-week period participants will be asked to plan and present a variety of lesson components with a culminating presentation of all elements of the lesson cycle.
