Hey, Holly. I own 5 Kalashnikovs and the exact Strike model you demoed. I agree with your assessment. My AKs are EDC blades and the Strike is more of an outdoor knife. As an aside, your expertise and pleasant delivery style really shines through in your video. You know your stuff and just gained a follower. Well done!
I've been carrying a Strike every day for 2 and a half years now. Never had a problem with it mechanically. Blade deploys solid, no play at all. My only complaint is that the finish wore really fast. I bought it in black before the name change to Grindworx.
I personally own both knives(7 Kalashnikovs & 1 Strike), and they’re all D2 blades! If I had to ever choose between the two I would probably choose the Kalashnikov, because I wear it as a neck knife! I constantly have my Kalashnikov with me where ever I go, and even when I sleep, with the exception for taking a shower! As far as I know they have not yet made or even planned to make available a Linos Kydex Sheath for Boker Strike w/ Neck Cord - Carbon Fiber! Until then my number #1 EDC knife will still be the Kalashnikov! Either way you look at it ‘Boker’ wins, and for knife lovers that is a good thing!
The strike plus is a great knife. I like the safety because I had an auto knife open while in my pocket years ago. 12 stitches later. I prefer one with a safety.
@@borisptitsyn2130 No problem. The Strike plus is a good knife. After carrying for a while the finish started to wear, Other than that it has worked well.
@@xxincomingsqueaksxx182 No No, I completely disagree! They can put a tiny spring loaded tungsten tip like SOG has on their trident. You can barely see it. I do agree with you in regards to those huge glass breaker pocket clip nuts. I can't stand that kind.
Just found your channel the other day, keep up the great work and thank you for showing us all this awesome Strike review! I think it's the one I am going to get, subbed ya. Was actually on the fence between this and the Kalashnikov but the handle looks like it would fit my hands better on the Strike.
Bought both these knives liking the strike better, but when I got them in my hands the kalashnikov is my fav of the two. Both great sturdy budget friendly knives
Probably good for self-defense but it would be nice if it had the Triad locking mechanism like the Cold Steel Air Lite tanto but the problem with the Air Lite is its deployment is too slow and in a self-defense situation seconds count. The Strike Tanto looks awesome. Thank you for the review. 😎👍
I'm about to order the strike. I just cant decide if I should get it through you, or HQ Blade. What do you think? Personally, you seem pretty cool, so I think I might be leaning your way.
I own both, and give the slight edge to the Strike based on handle ergonomics. However, I prefer the full flat ground blade and the larger recessed button of the Kalashnikov over the Strike. I don’t care for the pocket clip of either knife. Note the safety on my Strike was non functional (new from the factory) and required me to disassemble the knife and use thread locker to secure the screw on the back of the safety. All my Kalashnikovs have been good to go and trouble free. That being said I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend one or both to anyone, and rate them as the top picks of the sub $50 autos.
Any tips on how to remove minor scratches from the knife i have the Kalashnikov strike. I've been thinking about dremel tool but don't want to ruin the copper finish. Any tips please help a fellow edc addict Lol.
So far as build goes, the Kala is a toy compared to the Strike. I own both and the Strike is still a working knife while the other is now a letter opener.
I have bought several bokers from you plus a few others for my collectibles, but I’m still waiting on my wolf knife from you all , will look at the strike looks 👍
Not likely on Grindworx, since we specialize in budget knives. Would be sick, though! Wouldn't be surprised to see a more premium version on Blade HQ. -Holly
To be honest, I haven't known either one to have issues with blade play! That's usually one of the perks people highlight in their reviews. Has your experience been different? -Holly
Holly- I got my strike. I like it, but I noticed a few things. The blade centering is off when folded, And when I deploy it, there is a slight catch. If you depress the button slightly it unlocks a bit. So it’s not a clean firing deployment. I noticed yours seems to do the same in your video. It is nice overall, looks great, no bladeplay
Too bad about the blade centering, I haven't found that to be a typical issue with Boker. Perhaps the pivot needs a little adjusting? Also, I think the firing button/spring needs a little time to wear in, they're often stiff right out of the box. In the end, you're getting a ton for what you pay. I'm glad you like yours, the Strike is definitely on my list of favorites! -Holly
Thank you for making such quick, simple, but very in-depth videos for consumers to decide which knife will be best suited for their needs (and let’s be honest - wants!) I’ll definitely be using your site to get my next knife!
My thing is that I don't want a safety switch on an automatic. It kind of defeats the purpose of having an automatic. I'd rather have a manual opening knife than an auto with a safety.
Are you talking about a specific knife, or the SuperKnife brand in general? I agree the Dingo is a good one, I'll be reviewing those as soon as we get a good amount of stock in. -Holly
I got the mini strike in D2 for $47 and I gotta say I’m sort of disappointed. It flys open that’s nice but the lock is gimmicky sometimes doesn’t enagage, blade play left and right like crazy and overall just feels cheap. My second Boker and feel the same about the other one. Much better options in that price point
I just got my strike in 8/2021. It actually has a S30V steel blade (same as most Benchmade knives) Much superior than the AUS8 or D2 blade that the older variations came with. All in all the newest variation of the Boker Strike Plus knives are The same as benchmade.....just 4 times cheaper.
Oh, I just ordered one in S30v how's it holding up? Does it hold an edge like it's supposed to? I was just curious as sometimes the heat treat may not be the best with some manufacturers.
I like your hands... *heavy breathing* Sorry I just saw that comment and wondered how I could out creepy it.. Hopefully the heavy breathing note did it. Anyhow, thank you for the video. This is just what I was looking for.. Though I'm not convinced which to buy so will likely buy both off your site. Thanks again.
I picked up the Strike with a stonewashed drop point and must say it performs better than I expected. I didn't have high hopes for a Chinese blade, but it is decent steel. Sharpening takes longer than all my other knives together, but once honed it will make quick work of rabbits, meat birds, bobcats, rattlesnakes, illegals, anything really. :) The handle coating wears off fairly fast. Maybe test out some other colorants or coatings for aluminum.

Thanks for the support! I'm a relative newcomer to the knife community, so I'm glad I don't sound like a complete noob. -Holly
I just bought the Strike, love it. That color scheme is a BladeHQ exclusive, they call it "Desert Warrior."
Glad you spelled it right. That was the whole reason they made the Dessert warrior. 😂
What’s funny about the kalashnikov is that it measures 7.62 inches.

Thanks for your review, I've been debating between these two for the last 2 weeks. You just made my choice easier and ordered the Boker strike
same over here :)
You need BOTH!

Happy to be of assistance! -Holly
I want both! I wish they had glass breakers on them though.
Shane Martin yeah :(
I think it would make them look tacky

Just ordered the Strike with D2 from Blade HQ for 50 bucks. Looking forward to see how the blade holds up.
How did it hold up?
I ordered the strike in D2 steel for ten $ more and I cant wait to get it lol

i own both and me strike is D2 steel , the ak does have a sliding safety on top.
im trying to narrow it down between the strike and the gerber propel.

When can we expect a S30V Boker Strike ?? I have the S30V and XHP Kalashnikov's already...

Thinking very serious about ordering the strike
Hands down, the Strike is the way to go! Much better feel and grip! And who doesn't love a Tanto!
Does the Strike have less blade play than the kalashnikov?
To be honest, I haven't known either one to have issues with blade play! That's usually one of the perks people highlight in their reviews. Has your experience been different? -Holly
Mine has absolutely zero play in the blade and I've carried it daily for 2 and a half years now.

i just saw bladeops had the strike in cpm s30v for 50$… that was an easy yes
Holly- do a review on the grindworx superknife
Dingo! I got one, I think it’s great! Great budget auto !

I got the Dingo automatic with the emerald green handle- it seems great so far! The price is awesome!
I have found a few things I don’t like about it though...
I’m getting both for my collection

Dylan Stoner don’t know for autos, this was only my second one but personally I’m not a big fan of autos
I can’t decide I think I shall get both
I definitely subscribed
Sad you guys dont keep them in stick like blade HQ..
Nice comparison between the two. But the choppy editing hurt my brain.
I just got a strike based off the looks and I like it.

Why do some people prefer tip as opposed to tip down
when you grab it ..it is in ready to deploy position with tip up
the strike has d12 blade

I don't like the way the Kalashnikov looks.
The way she's putting down the one knife, they should sue her.
🤣🤣🤣
