I beat you. I'm 74 and have a C harmonica and would love to be able to play it. I like this kid's way of explaining things. I'm going to try it and want to thank you for sharing your talent.
Ernest, I’m 70 1/2 and just bought a C harp. Always wanted to play blues. My problem will be breath ‘cause I’m living with a heart that’s been damaged ( ⅓ of it is dead same with major artery) but still will do what I can!
Haha! I already have a camper van i built, sitting in the driveway. When I read your comment I realised I need to move in to that thing and keep playing the harmonica
Bahahaha 6min and 30 sec, once you get this nailed ..... it'll turn into something like this BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOM just busts out a mad tune.... Classic lol Love your work
Ahahaha, exactly my reaction too ! ^_^ Once he started jamming and brought to light those oustanding licks, my hair stood up on back of my neck like a soldier at the voice of his commander ! Goddamn ! Tomlin Leckie is such a trickster !
I am 74 and just started a few few months ago. I really am loving your videos. You are fantastic Super and have such a wonderful presence.. keep it going and thank you very much!
Thank you! I’ve been learning a lot from both you and Gussow. I now have 3 harmonicas as I keep upgrading because I didn’t expect to make such great progress with the help of your teachings.
Just bought one in C to accompany guitar. Like a naive fool I thought it was a 5 minute job to master. I now realise i will be needing your channel. Have subbed.
Tomlin - you are the only person I've ever watched (and I've seen a few!) that fully explains the breathing process. If I ever manage to get beyond the simple train rhythm I'll definitely enrol on your course
Got a set of Fender Blues Deluxe for Christmas. Thanks for putting these videos out there guy. I need the structure and inspiration to learn and enjoy it.
I don't have a harmonica yet but I certainly will begin your lesson is terrific I've been just whistling I'm practicing in this way until I get my harmonica thank you so much you're a very good teacher God bless you
I'm really looking forward to this Tomlin, I'm 67 recently retired. Bought a Horner Marine Band in C. I like your style if this first lesson is anything to go by. Thank you for putting these up to help us.
Just tried Harmonica for the very first time with your video and man, I've got a long way to go but this was a really great way to break the ice, cheers pal.
Young man, many grateful thanks from this old Girl . Just bought one to play as I go through Breast Cancer treatments, probably one handed ! Nothing like a challenge neh. So from this NZ Wahine, KIA ORA
Hi Tomline, Thank you a lot for your lessons. I think it's really grate that yo are spearing some time to teach unknown people all over this globe a cool new skill. Keep up with the good work. I hope I'll get better at it with time! 😊 Best regards from Croatia, Iva
Love these videos ! I have wanted to play harmonica all my life but never had the time to learn. Now due to an injury and illness I find myself chair-bound ( mostly ) and a lung that does not cooperate - But my Dr says to exercise it and I will be back to full working order he hopes - I believe and have faith ! I said all that only to explain why I may lag a bit behind or be a bit slow in the lessons. I was given a harmonica yesterday and I know it is not a great one ( Sawtooth Key of C Diatonic ) So far I know how to open the case - Take it out and if I blow on it I can make noise. I did randomly start watching the first persons lessons that came up but had a hard time following. You are great in the way you teach ! This person did teach that when trying to achieve a single note you should tilt the harmonica downward into your bottom lip. I struggled with that for a while and began searching through for other teachers, I found you and would like to ask you if I can ... While trying to tilt the harmonica down did not work I played around and tilted it up and I got a perfect sound. Can I ask would this be ok ? It is only a slight tilt. But when trying to learn more advanced techniques will that be a problem ? Or do you have a different suggestion - I am eager to learn - Thank you.
Thank you for that - I immediately got it when tilting it up and I was happy to hear this would not be a problem. Just to be clear I am crating a single note using my upper lip as opposed to my bottom lip ( as I have heard others say to use my bottom ) - I only own shirts with pockets and carry it i there - I pull it our many times during the day and have very my come to enjoy it.
Young man, you are indeed gifted and blessed. I am learning many new ideas from your lessons. I am from Mangalore, India. Very few people are interested in learning this tiny little beautiful instrument, in my city. I teach those who are keen to start learning. God bless you.
i always wanted to learn how to play the harmonica, since i was a kid, and now i finally started, thanks for the video, it is great, finally i will use your channel as my music teacher. Thanks for your time and dedication.
i think you are a really good teacher, thanks for the free lessons it is helping me out lots. i have been trying to learn for a long time i understand that it takes time and you need to learn slowly thank you
Wow it's tough . But so far you are the best teacher..I have a crossover Marine in G And an Echo in C.. My Echo has 32 squares ,I'm guessing 4 squares is 1 note.... Thank you ,You have an incredible Gift..... And I'm 53 and catching on..... ✌🏼☮️ Thank you ...so much...
Dude, that sounds SO cool! I've been practicing for a month now and I was feeling a little stuck after having learned to isolate notes and do some bends, but this video gave me some new perspective on the possibilities. Unfortunately I can't pay for your lessons right now because I live in brazil and the exchange rates + taxes are going to break me, but I hope I can do that in the future. Thanks for that lesson, man!
Like youre videos, and im impressed how many peoples has watch this video. Was afraid i was learning to play on a dying instrument! but the blues still lives! Blues on !
Hi Tomlin, just started playing the harp and enjoying your lessons so much (the 3 that I have taken anyway)! Other teachers I have tried are all American and they come with a lot of Americanism which I find hard to take. You have a more relaxed style which is good for me. All the best Ian
I gave myself a harmonica for Christmas. I was 70 years and 7 months young at the time. I have 2 months under my belt right now and I love it. Tom's videos have been very helpful. Didn't think I would stick to it, but I have. Great way to help fill the day when you're stuck at home because of Covid.
@@TKBarnes I'm still with it. I like to make up new tunes and just wing it. I never learned to read music and I don't plan to at this point. I am hearing impaired, but not enough to keep me from music. Now 72, learning a new skill and sticking with my new hobby has been most satisfying. My grandson was so impressed, he asked me to get him a harmonica. I did, gladly.... Keep paying it forward!
Getting the hang of it I am familiar with the blues and play a guitar pretty well I am using the harmonica with garage band and just simple licks are working well P
