- what happens if you don't activate windows 11? nothing, but Microsoft terms of service states. "You are authorized to use this software only if you are properly licensed and the software has been properly activated with a genuine product key or by other authorized method." so in theory, you are supposed to activate Windows 11 to use it. You will have some restrictions like, no lock screen, background, wallpaper settings, colors, taskbar, all will be greyed out.

At this point, Microsoft should just officially have a free tier of Windows for home users w/ less official features, similar to the non activated state of modern Windows now.
There is no such thing as " free"
If you boot any PC into windows AND it's connected online...YOU are the product. Microshit WILL , has, and always will mine your data and sell it without your permission AND without giving you one red cent of those sales.
And microshit has already decreased useful or official features little by little throughout the past 10 years easily.

@@vitom5513 1. Can't create or edit Toolbar folder anymore ( A toolbar folder is FAR > pinning items to taskbar..which you are more limited to as far as which things you can pin. Toolbar folder lets you put ...ANYTHING you want one click access to ...VERY easily. Microshit removed this simple good feature they've had in WIndows since easily the XP days )
2. Windows 10 and before..you could right click any empty area of the desktop and get immediate access to ALL items in that context menu that you must now right click + left click on this stupid thing of " show more items" ( and the damn hotkey on that " show more items" selection doesn't even work )...It's two clicks to accomplish something Windows users used to only need ONE click to accomplish.
There are more examples of that idiotic programming choice on Microshit's end, but I cannot recall them at this time.
3. More and more things...settings..are being removed and locked away from the end user that should not be.
It's not like any of this has been a secret for over 2 years now. It's all over youtube. Do some research.
If you want to change your background all you need to do is go to your photos right click and change background.
I suspect the only reason Microsoft has the "you must have an activated copy of Windows to use the software" in their policy is so they can crack down on businesses who decide to run unactivated. Home users Microsoft won't care at all about, but at least if they have it in their policy then they're covered if they ever see Windows being used unactivated in a way they don't like.
Personally I run my VMs unactivated as I just don't need a licence for virtual machines and after years of doing it I've never had an issue. I run activated on my physical machines just not virtual.

I haven't noticed which all features are not available without activating it. Thanks bro for the video. But a great thing is Microsoft have given us a feature of activating it using the key of windows 10.

Wasn't it Mr Gates that famously said that he would prefer the world to run on pirated copies of Windows than Linux? I think they also don't force this policy in part due to the Chinese market, probably for the same reason.
Please give me one overwhelming reason to ever install it to begin with. All I see is problems and more problems and no advantages of anything that I need and I have been using MS for 40+ years. Win 11 seems to be a big mess.

Basically Windows 11 is Just a Reskin or Redesigned Version of Windows 10. Not so Big. For me it's sounds safe to keep Windows 10 Forever Even i am on Windows xp

For me it's kinda Windows 11 Is Just Good For it's New Design. But Sounds are Horrible as hell because The Classic sounds uses the Stupid Windows Vista sounds

Never thought about it since I have always had activated versions of Windows. Have a question that others may also have in regards to Windows 10/11. Is there any real advantage to moving from the HOME version to the PRO version for the average home user? I have license keys to do so but from what I see there is nothing Pro has to offer that I really need.
Basically disk encryption, remote desktops, local account creation at setup and the group policy editor are benefits for advanced home users.

Hi Brian. Can you use a windows 7 key to activate windows 11 like you can with windows 10? Or can you upgrade in place from an activated copy of Windows 10 without having to buy a new windows 11 key? Just wondering.

Yes, this will work, it will take a little longer, few seconds more, but it will activate a Windows 7 key.
Thanks for the information. I would like to ask you this question. How can one test a Ram for Laptop RAM if it is working, other than inserting it into the slot and booting. (I mean say using a meter of Multimeter )
My Computer needed a new motherboard, I replaced it with the exact same type, and The PC acted like new, but a few days later the Windows activation watermark showed up. When trying to activate got a message that the Product Key had been de-listed or something like that. MS wanted me to buy another Key. Well the watermark comes and go's but I never noticed any bad side effects running without a valid key.

I was just using my Activated windows 11 and randomly a message pops up saying that my windows 11 isn't activated, I'm so confused.
My windows 11 have been activated for over a year now it just randomly not activated anymore.
And the activation page in the settings it says
"We can't activate Windows on this device as we can't connect to your organization's activation server. Make sure you're connected to your organization's network and try again. If you continue having problems with activation, contact your organization's support person. Error code: 0x8007007B"
I clicked Troubleshoot and it didn't work.

@@Westcoastmickey The problem was I was using a KMS activator and some only last for 6 months. I recommend MAS activator instead as it can be activated permanently, or just get a legit key from Microsoft

I will not do the upgrade to win11 until the version gets stable and also for having the TPM issue so can't have it anyway. They ask you to build a new PC so to be able to use their OS 11. It was a stupid thing to force you to buy new machine or pre-used core I5 8 version processor so to be able to benefit the OS11 thing. I stick to my OS 10 and just when have the market reasonable in GPU with other components price. I will do the upgrade. Thanks for the whole about OS 11 non activated version notification.
The version is stable....it all depends on how stable your PC is.....the longer you wait...the more crap you'll download and the worse it'll be.
@@flicka25 To be honest as I have been using all MS OS from start. I never ever upgrade or start using a new OS until It gets stable as you are the first or one of the first who claim It is all about the PC anyone own. Ubuntu OS never had any issue with any PC. Just to make It out out clear. MS OS in every new or upgrade of any of their OS. You face a lot of issues even on new builds and that is a true thing. They should use and do a lot of testing on different machines and laptops before send the OS out to cut the errors and issues that drop in consumer face.
A question Britec, if you update to Win 11 via Windows Update, and your Windows 10 was an activated OS, will that activation carry over to the Win 11 update ?
Yes mate, even if you do a fresh install you can use your Win10 key to activate. I was even able to get mine activated just by putting in my email address and password with the fresh install as when it asks for the key when doing fresh install I clicked "I don't have a product key", then when win was installed and it asks for your Microsoft account details it automatically activated it.
I updated from an activated Windows 10 to Windows 11 recently (via Windows Update), and Windows 11 was activated.

I used windows 10 for 2-3 years without activation i didn't notice any difference i didn't tried windows 11 my pc doesn't support windows 11
My strange experience: I downloaded the windows 11 iso from microsoft, to try it out in a VM, using the regedit option to install on unsupported hardware. (BypassTPMCheck and BypassSecureBootCheck.) After installing in a VM, I got the greyed-out personalization features as expected. For the heck of it, I downloaded the old AutoKMS program for early windows 10, to see if it would activate windows 11. After getting Defender to allow it, it actually worked, to my surprise. This was just for testing in a VM that I didn't save. I don't recommend bootlegging windows 11. I eventually decided I needed to try windows 11 on bare metal. I installed it on 4 different machines with various unsupported hardware from intel and AMD, as old as 12 years old. One was EFI. The others were MBR. I installed 11 Home on the old EFI laptop, and 11 Pro on the others. All of them had no problem running windows 11, and no problem finding drivers in the iso for all the supposedly archaic hardware. All of them have no issues with Windows Update. The oddest thing was that on bare metal, using the official ISO from Microsoft installed Windows 11 already activated, even though I did not put in a product key. These machines had no prior windows 10 activation on them, either. The EFI laptop with 11 Home was the only one I used a Microsoft Account on during setup. The others use a local account. There is a windows 10 Pro license connected to my microsoft account as a result of being involved in windows insider development of windows 10 many years ago, but I don't see how that could have anything to do with these being already activated. Very strange. Can't complain.

You left out one key thing from the video. You can't change your sound device before activation, and my installation defaulted to my motherboards integrated sound which had no device plugged in...

Does Windows 11 Pro have built in DVD support like WMC from Windows 7? Also they have not fixed the Ryzen performance issues, my 3600 still hangs from time to time.
The Ryzen performance issue should be fixed now, you will need to download a chipset driver update from AMD, just search it up and do it.
Also, make sure you have all the Windows 11 updates installed.

When installing windows 11it ask for my Microsoft account just like 10 and since I had a legal 10 registered to my account I had no problems.Why I put windows 10 back in?The US government was looking @ my PC on Windows 11.
I don't have them snooping on Windows 10.I use a software called"PeerBlock"that shows me who is looking @ my PC.
My processor is not compatible so I extracted Windows 11 to a folder.Then went into"Sources" folder and hit setup.
It bypasses the processor check but I had to do a clean Install.
If your system crashes or you lose your data you will know why.
Their are temporary 25 charter Windows license codes , so that you can use the OS (authorized method )

VMs. It's not practical to license every VM when they're often for temporary use. They also can't be moved from machine to machine if they're activated (though with Windows 11 you also have to disable Secure Boot and TPM to be able to move them around).

I like some of the transitions, but sometimes they're a bit too much and are seemingly random. Since we use these persistent elements that transition across pages to indicate some kind of relationship between the previous and the next states, some of your transitions confuse me because I can't immediately see what the relationship is.
For example 2:23 of the selectable tiles (which weren't selected) transition into being two switches... does that mean anything? are they related in some way? I see this as random and a bad use of the design language. However, at 1:14 I like the transition from switches to the ticks on a paper, that makes sense to me. Epic presentation tho

With every version, Linux is getting simpler & simpler to use. And Linux is much more resistant to virus/hackers. And it runs very well on very old hardware.
Any straw could be the last one now ! One wrong move and there will be an EXODUS from windows to UBUNTU LINUX etc.
And soon thereafter, realising how reliable & simple Linux is, people will switch to Linux at work too. Goodbye Enterprise Licenses too, duh.
