I just absolutely hate the fact that Hoplite is 1.21+ because all my mods are 1.20.1 and if I were to change to 1.21, only like 30-40% of my mods would be available on 1.21. Why can't Speedsilver just change it so it's 1.20+? Wouldn't that even make the server more popular, player count wise?
Honestly I feel the same way as you, Servers like that should also be playable in older versions. They're probably just too lazy to make it happen. Also, 1.20 wouldn't support my favorite gamemode Mace duels ;)

I think Cubecraft and Hypixel are just as high quality as the Hive even tho it is hard to compare Bedrock Servers to Java Servers. At the end of the day it just comes down to personal preference tho so I can see what you mean

imo hoplite is the best minecraft server right now. hypixel is really stale atm, and MCC island is just way too casual for my tastes. In hoplite you can either sweat in solo or chill in civ, and the gameplay is just really balanced and fun. I do agree that mcmanhunt is underrated but it suffers from a lack of balance and unique gameplay features. if they added proximity chat, ranks/elo, kits and a better queuing system I think it would take off. I think the next server to take off will be one that hoplite-ifies manhunt. it's a shame that their devs are only focused on dividing the playerbase with modes that are unnecessary at best, while not touching the mode the server is named after.
I think when it comes to what people want from a Minecraft Server, everyone expects something else. Hypixel is really stale at the moment but it's just unbeatable in terms of the amount of gamemodes and queue times (Yes they did kinda ruin Bedwars with the new updates but it didn't have a huge impact on the Server overall). For me, MCC Island is the perfect Server because every single gamemode on it is well made and you can just play them casually which is exactly what I am personally looking for. I get that you want a more competitive experience tho so Hoplite is definitely the better Server for you. For me it's just very hard to get into Hoplite because every time I try to play Battle Royale I get destroyed by players who have played it since the first day of release and know exactly what they are doing. When it comes to MCmanhunt you are 100% right on the bad queueing system because most of the time you can not even get into a game like Lava rises for example because there are only 2 others playing it. That needs to be fixed and proximity chat would also not be such a bad idea for it.
