Just got back from this resort. Everything you stated is still exactly true. GREAT PLACE! Quick tips: The 5 dollar bill is king. If you throw a TEN DOLLAR BILL around or even a TWENTY-20..the staff will literally do whatever you want. Small tipping is also greatly appreciated by the staff. In talking to the workers, they stated that their monthly rent is around 120USD per month. So when you offer up a few dollars here and there, they REALLY appreciate it. This resort was AWESOME and will be 100% returning. I had SO MUCH FUN there. The staff really was all about you HAVING A GREAT TIME!
We were there back in April, and we loved it. As someone who burns easily, I loved that there were tons of shaded chairs everywhere. At other resorts in the past, it was next to impossible to get a chair at all unless you were there at 6:00am, and outright impossible to get one with an umbrella. At Royalton Bavaro, there were umbrella’s or even tented seating EVERYWHERE. My teenagers loved the Flowrider, Lazy River, Food Truck, Outdoor BBQ, and the Cafe. Foam party is fun, but personally I think it is an accident (or worse) waiting to happen. During our foam party, everything had to come to a complete halt because a 12 yr old boy went missing from the pool and his mother was terrified that he had drowned. Turns out he stepped out to go to the bathroom without telling his parents, but it was a tense and scary few minutes for everyone there. The staff was great. My 13 yr old daughter loved dancing with the vibe team every night, and we were really impressed with the Cirque de Soleir type show. Our favorite restaurant was the steakhouse.....the Petit Filet was amazing. One thing we did find annoying was the day when the vendors came on site....they were extremely aggressive, and was even a bit insulting to us for not wanting to pay $130us for a $10 necklace for our daughter. Basically called us cheap parents. Had a wonderful stay overall and would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.
Great review! You pretty much covered everything I wanted to know about this resort. I have an 11 old daughter, always want make sure there are things for her to do. Sure you know how that goes.
Stayed here back in April, I agree with everything you said, the only con if you don't go the Diamond route is getting a table at some of the better restaurants, be aware that even though they say reservations not required, they are for the most part, but still can't complain, beautiful complex, great staff, we used the kids club a few times with our then 6 year old son, he had a great time there and gave us alittle bit of alone time!
Me and my girlfriend just got back from royalton Bavaro! Couldn’t recommend it enough, everyone is so lovely and will always go that extra mile. We are 20-22 years old and we really enjoyed it.

I really appreciate that ya’ll took the time to visit my country, but i think the food and accommodations just take part in which hotel you booked, if you booked a cheap or 3 to 4 star hotel, you’re going to get 3 to 4 star food and service, in another hand the resort looks amazing!! Hope you guys had fun!

We got there before the room was ready. Typically check-in is 3pm. So they allowed us to grab some drinks, tour the campus, and then eat at one of the restaurants. I'd say the check-in process was about 20 mins or so, give or take. Pretty painless.
We did not but this resort was BIG on selling various excursions. Any time we passed by the concierge desk they'd stop us and offer us an excursion package.

Hi! I believe it was open from 11 - 4 each day. The lines grew but they went quick. It was efficiently run. It's so much fun! Looks easier than it is but totally worth it!!!
You're welcome. I'm under the impression that this resort is the Royalton Bavaro IN Punta Cana. I've heard it said a few different ways but I've never seen any other resort in that area by any other name other than Royalton Bavaro.

Thank you! And yes, we actually visited that water park and had a blast. If I recall correctly, they had a "shuttle" pick us up at 8:30 in the morning to bring us there. Then, the return "shuttles" were at 11:30 and 5:30. We stayed for the 3 hours, that was more than enough. I put the work shuttle in quotes because it was basically a big golf cart. Hysterical ride there and back. it was a very nice beach but it was small. If you are a beach person and this is a major point of interest for you, this may not be it's strongest selling point. If you are NOT a beach person and plan on spending more time in the pool, this resort is great!

The rooms were very nice. We had a beach view room, right across from the "Royalton" pool itself. They were big, clean, and the AC worked great! We also had a balcony. Good question. His named escapes me at the moment but the butler we were assigned was outstanding. Very polite, great to work with, etc... At the end of the trip we gave him a $100 bill (U.S.) which he reluctantly took. I'm not sure if they're discouraged from taking tips but we insisted.
Excellent review that I can't take any issue with! We just returned from a week there, and were really impressed with the facilities, the food and the cleanliness. Our kids enjoyed short breaks at the Kids' club during the heat of the afternoon. We also were advised that we would be hounded for time share meetings, etc....but the few times I was approached, we politely said no, and were not hassled at all! One thing to be aware of....I am submitting this comment during the Covid19 crisis (we were very glad to make it back to Canada!).....I never heard it absolutely confirmed, but the rumour was rampant before we headed home that the resort was closing down as of April 1, for an undermined period of time.

Hopefully it is short term, and our thoughts are with the staff and their families in Punta Cana.....hoping to be back there with our family as soon as possible!

Thank you! Each night they had something on the facility. Whether it was a White Beach Party, or a Salsa Dance Mixer, or a show down by the main entrance, we never had any reason to leave the resort. However, there were options to take a shuttle out of Riviera Maya and head to Cancun (25 mins away) and party over there as well. I never personally explored that option though.
Great review! I'm one of those people who wants a nice beach. Your review was so well done that I can trust your opinion on what places are better for that. I saw a comment you recommended Dreams Romana. Can you recommend all of the other places you've been to that have great beaches? Even if they're on other islands?
quick question what other all inclusive resorts you can you recommend other than the Royalton? Looking for a luxury family resort. Royalton is a good option. But after looking at this I wanted to look at something else Looking for something that has nightlife as well. WE have a 13 year old. Royalton seems like a nice option, but again want to make sure we have a great time.
Great review! I was going back & forth about this resort. One question...how did the layout of the room work for you with your kids? It appears there’s not much privacy & we will be traveling with 2 boys aged 14 & 11.
For the room we had, there was a sliding wall that you could use to divide the room up. Our room had two beds and two TVs. So with the wall enabled and the room partitioned, everyone still had access to their own amenities.

Congrats! Not sure of the name of the building but if you has a map of the resort in front of you, we were in the last building on the left, beach side. You heard correctly with regards to pushing the time shares and whatnot. I'm polite but firm. I simply tell them I'm not interested and I don't want to waste anyone's time. After a day or 2 they eventually get the hint. Don't fall for free breakfasts or T-shirts. It's an all inclusive resort - everyday you're getting breakfast. I've experienced this with just about any resort I've visited. Seems to be a bit more aggressive in DR though from what I've seen. Not sure why. At another resort we stayed at, the salesman actually called our room at 7 am to get me to come down. I'm a pretty laid back person and it takes quite a bit to upset me. This really pissed me off though.
For the sake of having our own pool with less people in it, yes! In my opinion, that alone was worth every penny. Having access to the spa was a huge plus for me as well.
I am trying to plan for a Feb trip and looking at a number of PC resorts. We have a nearly 18 year old son and need to be sure he can find entertainment and activities as well as friends. Did you see lots of older teens at this resort? Have you stayed anywhere else in PC that is the same quality resort but has better night life? What were the beds like? My hub is super tall as is my son and we need good size beds. Thanks for this lovely video, I have watched a few and appreciate the details.
Hi! You'll find that groups sort themselves out at resorts like this. The teens / young adults were all in the infinity pool. Most of the older men and women were in the general pool or the private pool (where we stayed). The beds were standard King Beds. I'm 6'4" and it was no different than sleeping on my own King sized bed here at home. With regards to nightlife - I can only speak for the in house resort nightlife. There was always something to do. Shows, beach dance parties, etc... You'd have a hard time getting bored! Hope this helps. Enjoy!
Hey Jay, I'm thinking about booking this resort for a trip in March.. It's between here and Cap Cana.. Would I be able to relax without it being an adult only resort?
In my opinion, YES. I will say this - the premium package gives you access to the private pool area. So the population was very small there and the bar was always empty which is a HUGE plus. The bartender got to know everyone's name and quickly learned our favorite drinks quickly. Pretty cool! Keep in mind, during the month of March kids are in school. So the resort might be dead all around which is a great thing! Hope you have a blast! Let me know what the trip is like.

I was sad to see how small the beach space was :( My fiance and I are looking to plan a destination wedding and are considering here, food and fun are important! You made mention there wasn't much of an nightlife. Is there truly none at all..? Do the bars have music and a lot going on after hours or is it more quiet, friends hanging out? So the wedding package's DJ is an extra $1k+ and I'm not sure it's necessary for our small crowd.. Did you go to the XS Disco?

Oh i and wanna add i stayed at the royalton in Cancun. It was the BEST resort I’ve ever been in by far. Food, rooms, people, etc. I have high standards now! I can’t stay anywhere else now because it was that good. If someone is reading this, royalton In is AMAZING but if u don’t get ocean front rooms, then u will be facing a swamp!! It smells, and it’s gross and it’s ugly! So make sure u pay the extra money for ocean view!!!
Was the resort big? I ask because I LOVE Cancun, but I always feel like's a bit over populated and over built there. That's the reason we typically go to Riviera Maya. It's close, but way more spread out.
Yes it was reallly bigggg!! Did not feel crowded at all. U would love it. But agree with what u said about the Punta Cana royalton. The royalton i stayed at had nothing at all nearby to shop or visit. Nearest place is 45 min away.

The only thing I can say about the beach at Royalton Bavaro is that it's small. There a little excursions that all are welcome to do - boogie board, paddle boat, snorkel, etc... However, if you're a beach person, this beach may not suite your needs. It's quite tiny in my opinion. Also, it's prone to seasonal seaweed as I mentioned as I mentioned in the video.

Personally we always go with tons and tons of singles and a handful of 20s. I've never tipped anyone with Pesos. For cigars, there are stores on the campus that have tons of cigars for sale. Some cheap, some super expensive. So basically, something for everyone!

I just booked for vacation in April - Diamond Club....how much is it per person? Is it per day ? Is it seriously worth it?? Hate not having a seat at the pool....and not being able to get into a restaurant..... what else do they give you???As much info on Diamond Club would be appreciated....thx so much for the info.... Is beach really that bad?? I love the beach.....(not happy about the seaweed)
We were a party of 5, 3 adults and 2 children. With airfare from NJ to DR, transfer vouchers, and resort, it was just south of $5,400. We were there for 7 days, 6 nights. I'm not entirely sure how it's all broken down but that is what we paid. We have an amazing travel agent if you're interested... At the time we were there, I never once saw the poolside seats at full capacity. In other words, no matter the time of day, there were always empty seats to be had. As with the restaurants, you're free to make reservations on your own if you're concerned about availability. And if you're ever in a pinch, the buffets were good. As for what else we got - being a Diamond Club member gives you access to your own personal butler. He'd check on us throughout the day, make appointments for us with the restaurants, take care of any of our person needs, checked us in super quick, etc... Did we need it? No. Did we appreciate it? Sure! It came in handy and he was a super nice guy. I could have totally lived without this extra service though. We also had exclusive access to a Diamond Club "Club House". Basically, it was a room on the lobby of our beach side hotel that had little snacks, sandwiches, and all of the top shelf liquor you could ever ask for. It was exclusive to the diamond club members only and was open 24 hrs a day. As for the beach... You can't fight mother nature! I would never knock a resort because of seaweed. And to their credit, there was always someone out there shoveling it up and getting rid of it. Literally 24 hours a day! Impressive. That aside, the beach is small and shallow. It's not a big beach if that matters to you. It was super clean, had soft sand, and plenty of places to lay out. But it was hardly the most impressive beach I've seen. If I missed anything, let me know. Hope this answers your questions and addresses your concerns.
I just got back Feb 15. There must be two Royalton resorts because I do not recognize any of this. Mine was the one that was close to Memories Splash with the water slides. The Shuttles runs every 7 minutes between the two resorts but you can walk from the Royalton to Memories Splash water park in less than 10 minutes.
What part of the resort did you stay on? 90% of our time was by the beach side of the campus. What did you think of memories splash? We had a good time there.
@@JaysDMC I was near the westside by the Casino, I walked the beach north and south for miles and I do not know how I missed the Lazy River and mini-putt course. LOL I liked the slides at the splash very much .
@@Crashed131963 Now when we were there, the Casino wasn't open yet. We were able to peek through the window and could see it was all set up. But for some reason, they didn't have it ready for the visitors yet. Mind you, the resort was only 7 or 8 months old. So I guess some of the attractions were a work in progress.

Actually checked out at noon spent time at the pool, beach & lazy river my flight was to leave at 10:15 pm but it’s been delayed 3 hours so I wouldn’t get back to Toronto until 4 am. My next trip south is for spring training to Florida , ever go to Florida for the Yankees or Mets ? I’m also going for a few Lighting & blue jays spring tearing games. I’ll have to wait to see the leafs next winter baring any playoff meeting

JaysDMC Yes we have been to the BP resorts 5 times staying at the Esmeralda, Aqua Marine and Ambar which is adults only and the most expensive. The food at the Ambar is excellent, all have great service.
We've been to Punta Cana twice and of the 2 resorts, the Royalton was the best. However, if you're looking to go elsewhere in DR, I highly recommend Dreams in Santo Domingo. It is amazing!
If you like this resort I highly recommend the royalton riviera cancun in Mexico. It's an even better resort with more pools and more spread out. Only con is the beach is not great at all
@@JaysDMC thanks for your review on the royalton bavaro..were looking at this hotel for our trip in august..another good hotel resort to look at in Mexico is the iberostar paraiso maya. We have been there 4 times and got married there in 2012. They have huge pools, wave pool, lazy river, shopping mall with carousel and kids playground. And they have tons of wildlife around the resort. (Coati mundi, peacocks, lizards, birds.)

Hi! Well before TH-cam was such a popular thing, we've been traveling and filming our family adventures. I have tons of footage from one of the finest resorts we stayed at in the Dominican Republic. In my opinion, Dreams La Romana was one of our best stays. I'm considering putting together "retro" reviews of these different resorts. The footage was shot 5 or 6 years ago, but my memories of them are crystal clear and may help others decide where their next vacation is. Dreams La Romana had, HANDS DOWN, the finest beach I've ever been on. The water was crystal clear, tons of exotic fish, and an amazing view of the sunset each night. So amazing that at 6:30 or so, everyone would gather around on one side of the campus just to watch is set. It was mid February when we went, so sunset was somewhat early. No shuttles per say but occasionally you'll see a bellhop in a golf cart traveling around. If you ask nicely (and give a tip), they'll bring you from point a to b.

Hi JaysDMC. I really appreciated your review. The only thing I'd like to ask you about is the Diamond Club. Unfortunately, it was all sold out and I can't get that upgrade so now I'm wondering if I will not like the resort if I don't have the upgrade? Are we going to get treated differently? etc...Your thoughts on this are appreciated. I love the spa and I'm worried I can't use it if I'm not diamond club etc. Give me the low down on if you didn't have the diamond club....thanks so much.
As for being treated differently, I highly doubt it. Every one on the campus was so friendly throughout the entire trip. Without the diamond club though, you won't have the private pool which I appreciated. It was never crowded and we had our own swim up bar which was great! I'm sure though, we'd have a blast regardless at this resort. As for the spa, I'm not sure how much of it you'll be able to use without paying a fee. We were allowed an hour a day for free. However, there were times we were there way beyond an hour and no one cared. As a matter of fact, nearly each time we went, we were the only ones there. So we basically had the place to ourselves. I wouldn't sweat it much about not having the diamond club. I'm sure you're going to have a great time regardless. Hope you have a blast!!!
My apologies. I misread the question... If I had to choose between the two - I'd most likely return to the Barcelo Maya. Though the food was better at the Royalton, the booze and grounds were nicer at Barcelo Maya. Sorry for the confusion. :-)
Unfortunately no. Coincidentally though, while we were at the Royalton, my wife's friend was at Chic. It's about a 20 minute walk away form the Royalton via the beach. I heard nice things about it.

We were there back in April, and we loved it. As someone who burns easily, I loved that there were tons of shaded chairs everywhere. At other resorts in the past, it was next to impossible to get a chair at all unless you were there at 6:00am, and outright impossible to get one with an umbrella. At Royalton Bavaro, there were umbrella’s or even tented seating EVERYWHERE. My teenagers loved the Flowrider, Lazy River, Food Truck, Outdoor BBQ, and the Cafe.
Foam party is fun, but personally I think it is an accident (or worse) waiting to happen. During our foam party, everything had to come to a complete halt because a 12 yr old boy went missing from the pool and his mother was terrified that he had drowned. Turns out he stepped out to go to the bathroom without telling his parents, but it was a tense and scary few minutes for everyone there.
The staff was great. My 13 yr old daughter loved dancing with the vibe team every night, and we were really impressed with the Cirque de Soleir type show. Our favorite restaurant was the steakhouse.....the Petit Filet was amazing.
One thing we did find annoying was the day when the vendors came on site....they were extremely aggressive, and was even a bit insulting to us for not wanting to pay $130us for a $10 necklace for our daughter. Basically called us cheap parents.
Had a wonderful stay overall and would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.

Stayed here back in April, I agree with everything you said, the only con if you don't go the Diamond route is getting a table at some of the better restaurants, be aware that even though they say reservations not required, they are for the most part, but still can't complain, beautiful complex, great staff, we used the kids club a few times with our then 6 year old son, he had a great time there and gave us alittle bit of alone time!

We got there before the room was ready. Typically check-in is 3pm. So they allowed us to grab some drinks, tour the campus, and then eat at one of the restaurants. I'd say the check-in process was about 20 mins or so, give or take. Pretty painless.

Yes, in the building we stayed in there were elevators. I can't speak for the other buildings but in ours there were elevators for all to use.

Hi! I believe it was open from 11 - 4 each day. The lines grew but they went quick. It was efficiently run. It's so much fun! Looks easier than it is but totally worth it!!!

You're welcome. I'm under the impression that this resort is the Royalton Bavaro IN Punta Cana. I've heard it said a few different ways but I've never seen any other resort in that area by any other name other than Royalton Bavaro.

Thank you! And yes, we actually visited that water park and had a blast. If I recall correctly, they had a "shuttle" pick us up at 8:30 in the morning to bring us there. Then, the return "shuttles" were at 11:30 and 5:30. We stayed for the 3 hours, that was more than enough. I put the work shuttle in quotes because it was basically a big golf cart. Hysterical ride there and back.

it was a very nice beach but it was small. If you are a beach person and this is a major point of interest for you, this may not be it's strongest selling point. If you are NOT a beach person and plan on spending more time in the pool, this resort is great!

The rooms were very nice. We had a beach view room, right across from the "Royalton" pool itself. They were big, clean, and the AC worked great! We also had a balcony. Good question. His named escapes me at the moment but the butler we were assigned was outstanding. Very polite, great to work with, etc... At the end of the trip we gave him a $100 bill (U.S.) which he reluctantly took. I'm not sure if they're discouraged from taking tips but we insisted.

Excellent review that I can't take any issue with! We just returned from a week there, and were really impressed with the facilities, the food and the cleanliness. Our kids enjoyed short breaks at the Kids' club during the heat of the afternoon.
We also were advised that we would be hounded for time share meetings, etc....but the few times I was approached, we politely said no, and were not hassled at all!
One thing to be aware of....I am submitting this comment during the Covid19 crisis (we were very glad to make it back to Canada!).....I never heard it absolutely confirmed, but the rumour was rampant before we headed home that the resort was closing down as of April 1, for an undermined period of time.
Oh wow!!! that's crazy! I'm glad you got back home. Makes sense, something like COVID is so contagious. A resort would be a complete hot zone. I'm glad your safe though.

Thank you! Each night they had something on the facility. Whether it was a White Beach Party, or a Salsa Dance Mixer, or a show down by the main entrance, we never had any reason to leave the resort. However, there were options to take a shuttle out of Riviera Maya and head to Cancun (25 mins away) and party over there as well. I never personally explored that option though.

Dreams La Romana has an amazing beach in DR. The other beach that really stands out is at the Barcelo Maya in Riviera Maya.
quick question what other all inclusive resorts you can you recommend other than the Royalton? Looking for a luxury family resort. Royalton is a good option. But after looking at this I wanted to look at something else Looking for something that has nightlife as well. WE have a 13 year old. Royalton seems like a nice option, but again want to make sure we have a great time.

Great review! I was going back & forth about this resort. One question...how did the layout of the room work for you with your kids? It appears there’s not much privacy & we will be traveling with 2 boys aged 14 & 11.
For the room we had, there was a sliding wall that you could use to divide the room up. Our room had two beds and two TVs. So with the wall enabled and the room partitioned, everyone still had access to their own amenities.

Congrats! Not sure of the name of the building but if you has a map of the resort in front of you, we were in the last building on the left, beach side. You heard correctly with regards to pushing the time shares and whatnot. I'm polite but firm. I simply tell them I'm not interested and I don't want to waste anyone's time. After a day or 2 they eventually get the hint. Don't fall for free breakfasts or T-shirts. It's an all inclusive resort - everyday you're getting breakfast.
I've experienced this with just about any resort I've visited. Seems to be a bit more aggressive in DR though from what I've seen. Not sure why. At another resort we stayed at, the salesman actually called our room at 7 am to get me to come down. I'm a pretty laid back person and it takes quite a bit to upset me. This really pissed me off though.

Was Diamond Club worth the upgrade?
For the sake of having our own pool with less people in it, yes! In my opinion, that alone was worth every penny. Having access to the spa was a huge plus for me as well.
I am trying to plan for a Feb trip and looking at a number of PC resorts. We have a nearly 18 year old son and need to be sure he can find entertainment and activities as well as friends. Did you see lots of older teens at this resort? Have you stayed anywhere else in PC that is the same quality resort but has better night life? What were the beds like? My hub is super tall as is my son and we need good size beds. Thanks for this lovely video, I have watched a few and appreciate the details.
Hi! You'll find that groups sort themselves out at resorts like this. The teens / young adults were all in the infinity pool. Most of the older men and women were in the general pool or the private pool (where we stayed). The beds were standard King Beds. I'm 6'4" and it was no different than sleeping on my own King sized bed here at home. With regards to nightlife - I can only speak for the in house resort nightlife. There was always something to do. Shows, beach dance parties, etc... You'd have a hard time getting bored!

In my opinion, YES. I will say this - the premium package gives you access to the private pool area. So the population was very small there and the bar was always empty which is a HUGE plus. The bartender got to know everyone's name and quickly learned our favorite drinks quickly. Pretty cool!
Keep in mind, during the month of March kids are in school. So the resort might be dead all around which is a great thing!

My fiance and I are looking to plan a destination wedding and are considering here, food and fun are important! You made mention there wasn't much of an nightlife. Is there truly none at all..? Do the bars have music and a lot going on after hours or is it more quiet, friends hanging out? So the wedding package's DJ is an extra $1k+ and I'm not sure it's necessary for our small crowd.. Did you go to the XS Disco?

Oh i and wanna add i stayed at the royalton in Cancun. It was the BEST resort I’ve ever been in by far. Food, rooms, people, etc. I have high standards now! I can’t stay anywhere else now because it was that good. If someone is reading this, royalton In is AMAZING but if u don’t get ocean front rooms, then u will be facing a swamp!! It smells, and it’s gross and it’s ugly! So make sure u pay the extra money for ocean view!!!
Was the resort big? I ask because I LOVE Cancun, but I always feel like's a bit over populated and over built there. That's the reason we typically go to Riviera Maya. It's close, but way more spread out.
Yes it was reallly bigggg!! Did not feel crowded at all. U would love it. But agree with what u said about the Punta Cana royalton. The royalton i stayed at had nothing at all nearby to shop or visit. Nearest place is 45 min away.

The only thing I can say about the beach at Royalton Bavaro is that it's small. There a little excursions that all are welcome to do - boogie board, paddle boat, snorkel, etc... However, if you're a beach person, this beach may not suite your needs. It's quite tiny in my opinion. Also, it's prone to seasonal seaweed as I mentioned as I mentioned in the video.

For cigars, there are stores on the campus that have tons of cigars for sale. Some cheap, some super expensive. So basically, something for everyone!

I just booked for vacation in April - Diamond Club....how much is it per person? Is it per day ? Is it seriously worth it?? Hate not having a seat at the pool....and not being able to get into a restaurant..... what else do they give you???As much info on Diamond Club would be appreciated....thx so much for the info.... Is beach really that bad?? I love the beach.....(not happy about the seaweed)
We were a party of 5, 3 adults and 2 children. With airfare from NJ to DR, transfer vouchers, and resort, it was just south of $5,400. We were there for 7 days, 6 nights. I'm not entirely sure how it's all broken down but that is what we paid. We have an amazing travel agent if you're interested...
At the time we were there, I never once saw the poolside seats at full capacity. In other words, no matter the time of day, there were always empty seats to be had. As with the restaurants, you're free to make reservations on your own if you're concerned about availability. And if you're ever in a pinch, the buffets were good.
As for what else we got - being a Diamond Club member gives you access to your own personal butler. He'd check on us throughout the day, make appointments for us with the restaurants, take care of any of our person needs, checked us in super quick, etc... Did we need it? No. Did we appreciate it? Sure! It came in handy and he was a super nice guy. I could have totally lived without this extra service though.
We also had exclusive access to a Diamond Club "Club House". Basically, it was a room on the lobby of our beach side hotel that had little snacks, sandwiches, and all of the top shelf liquor you could ever ask for. It was exclusive to the diamond club members only and was open 24 hrs a day.
As for the beach... You can't fight mother nature! I would never knock a resort because of seaweed. And to their credit, there was always someone out there shoveling it up and getting rid of it. Literally 24 hours a day! Impressive. That aside, the beach is small and shallow. It's not a big beach if that matters to you. It was super clean, had soft sand, and plenty of places to lay out. But it was hardly the most impressive beach I've seen.

There must be two Royalton resorts because I do not recognize any of this. Mine was the one that was close to Memories Splash with the water slides.
The Shuttles runs every 7 minutes between the two resorts but you can walk from the Royalton to Memories Splash water park in less than 10 minutes.
What part of the resort did you stay on? 90% of our time was by the beach side of the campus. What did you think of memories splash? We had a good time there.
@@JaysDMC I was near the westside by the Casino, I walked the beach north and south for miles and I do not know how I missed the Lazy River and mini-putt course. LOL

But for some reason, they didn't have it ready for the visitors yet. Mind you, the resort was only 7 or 8 months old. So I guess some of the attractions were a work in progress.

We're going to Florida in April. My wife just completed her 2nd Masters degree so I surprised her with a trip to Disney. She's a Disney fanatic so it should be fun.

I got severe food poisoning here in July 2018 and the service was appalling so I hope it’s improved since then!
When you say appalling, what did you experience? I ask because that's completely opposite from what he saw. Sorry you didn't have a good time and REALLY sorry to hear about the food poisoning! That's terrible!

Yes, exactly. The Royalton opened just over a year ago now. Did you stay at the Bahia Principe? If so, how was it?
JaysDMC Yes we have been to the BP resorts 5 times staying at the Esmeralda, Aqua Marine and Ambar which is adults only and the most expensive. The food at the Ambar is excellent, all have great service.

We've been to Punta Cana twice and of the 2 resorts, the Royalton was the best. However, if you're looking to go elsewhere in DR, I highly recommend Dreams in Santo Domingo. It is amazing!

The offerings were slim but at the time it was Heineken and Coors Light.
If you like this resort I highly recommend the royalton riviera cancun in Mexico. It's an even better resort with more pools and more spread out. Only con is the beach is not great at all

@@JaysDMC thanks for your review on the royalton bavaro..were looking at this hotel for our trip in august..another good hotel resort to look at in Mexico is the iberostar paraiso maya. We have been there 4 times and got married there in 2012. They have huge pools, wave pool, lazy river, shopping mall with carousel and kids playground. And they have tons of wildlife around the resort. (Coati mundi, peacocks, lizards, birds.)

@@zro2gon We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo which is it's neighboring resort. One of my favorite vacations! Typically I never revisit a resort. However, this is one I'd positively return to!

Hi! Well before TH-cam was such a popular thing, we've been traveling and filming our family adventures. I have tons of footage from one of the finest resorts we stayed at in the Dominican Republic. In my opinion, Dreams La Romana was one of our best stays. I'm considering putting together "retro" reviews of these different resorts. The footage was shot 5 or 6 years ago, but my memories of them are crystal clear and may help others decide where their next vacation is.
Dreams La Romana had, HANDS DOWN, the finest beach I've ever been on. The water was crystal clear, tons of exotic fish, and an amazing view of the sunset each night. So amazing that at 6:30 or so, everyone would gather around on one side of the campus just to watch is set. It was mid February when we went, so sunset was somewhat early.

Is there any kind of shuttles around the resort?
No shuttles per say but occasionally you'll see a bellhop in a golf cart traveling around. If you ask nicely (and give a tip), they'll bring you from point a to b.

Most of them yes. Very few are not included. You'll be informed which ones aren't when you arrive. Regardless, we always tip.
@@JaysDMC is it the seafood restaurant only with diamond club, or accessible by everyone? is lobster on the menu for the seafood restaurant :) ?
@@dawkinshater101 When we were there, things like Lobster and Steak were NOT included. Everything else was but big ticket items were extra and billed to the room.

I haven't personally but we have a relative that was there a year or so ago and said it was absolutely amazing!

Hi JaysDMC. I really appreciated your review. The only thing I'd like to ask you about is the Diamond Club. Unfortunately, it was all sold out and I can't get that upgrade so now I'm wondering if I will not like the resort if I don't have the upgrade? Are we going to get treated differently? etc...Your thoughts on this are appreciated. I love the spa and I'm worried I can't use it if I'm not diamond club etc. Give me the low down on if you didn't have the diamond club....thanks so much.
As for being treated differently, I highly doubt it. Every one on the campus was so friendly throughout the entire trip. Without the diamond club though, you won't have the private pool which I appreciated. It was never crowded and we had our own swim up bar which was great! I'm sure though, we'd have a blast regardless at this resort. As for the spa, I'm not sure how much of it you'll be able to use without paying a fee. We were allowed an hour a day for free. However, there were times we were there way beyond an hour and no one cared. As a matter of fact, nearly each time we went, we were the only ones there. So we basically had the place to ourselves.
I wouldn't sweat it much about not having the diamond club. I'm sure you're going to have a great time regardless. Hope you have a blast!!!
Is it better then Barcelo playa deal carman?
I honestly don't know. Haven't had the pleasure of visiting that resort yet. We miss the Royalton though!

My apologies. I misread the question... If I had to choose between the two - I'd most likely return to the Barcelo Maya. Though the food was better at the Royalton, the booze and grounds were nicer at Barcelo Maya. Sorry for the confusion. :-)
How far is this hotel from Royalton Punta Cana
It's less than a 10 minute drive and about a 25 minute walk.

Unfortunately no. Coincidentally though, while we were at the Royalton, my wife's friend was at Chic. It's about a 20 minute walk away form the Royalton via the beach. I heard nice things about it.
