I also drilled a hole in my pitch to install a dropper after watching you do it. Thanks for testing it out! It was surprisingly easy to drill into the frame. I used to downhill bike and ride this little hardtail pretty rough and jump medium sized jumps with it. No problem what so ever with the integrity of the frame so far after riding it 6 months. I actually did void the warranty. I talked to the specialized dealer and showed him the whole and he said they never had a warranty case with an aluminum frame because they’re super solid. Nice build and I hope you encourage more people to enjoy and invest in their budget trail bike!

Cheap doesnt mean its fake. Sometimes they sell you an oem parts. Its still original but just cheaper because it doesn't have box and sold in bulk to bike shops.

Yup, my friend says my rd and shifter are fake because the price is too good to be true. But I used it more than 1year now and I still don't have any issues about it.

I agree. I bought a 2003 full suspension bike and by upgrading it little by little I really appreciate my bike so much. I learn a lot by diy. And its so fun relieve your stress when you see your bike that you put some hour working on it not just riding it.

    Dear Mark,
I don't know if you are remembering me. I commented under your RS Judy builting in video into this bike when I saw that some months ago. I asked about the squinching noise, because I ordered a brand new from Germany, and that had a horrible sound at the first some pressing every day. I linked a video too. You answered, your does it too, so maybe it is normal. But I returned it to the shop (they said not seems to be normal noise), they sent back to the factory, they rebuilt/serviced it, and when I put it back into my bike, voila, moved like butter, nothing strange sound, only the soo satisfying rebound what it should be. So now I discovered this new video from you, and I can really advice a rebuild or service this Judy fork (not with hammer and screwdriver- sorry bro 😉😀). It seems to be they are not perfect out from the factory, but it's patchable! Best wishes! Peter

Dig the videos I’m stuck in ct with 11 inches of snow , for your front tire you can try automotive bead sealer it’s a little heavy but seals MTB tires with no issues and no leaks.I use it on all my tubeless tires no issues and makes seating tires much easier.

The reason the SLX shifts better on the hardtail is because it is on a hard trail and the clutch isnt constantly moving since the rear does move as compared to the full suspension. HT will always shift better as compared to full sus

Do not loosen it up I have the same dropper post, you need too put some Judy Butter or Slickoleum Grease, because they dont grease them up enough on these dropper posts new thats the only issue, what you have to do is to loosen it up and but some grease on the bushings and under the cap, and everything will be fine, then screw it back together.

As long as the hole isn't near the joints and welds, it's not gonna put any noticeable long term stress on the frame (or even at all). I've also heard of 0 instances a modified dropper hole caused a frame to fail. I do recommend getting rubber grommets for the hole, though. Even when you sand the shit out of the hole, it will still grab and scratch those rubber hoses when you do some maintenance to the dropper post, and a rubber grommet will prevent that. It'll also prevent too much moisture from seeping inside the frame. It might be an aluminum alloy, but it will still corrode or if not, start to stink instead.

Be sure to check your local pawn shops often for bikes. I've scored many over the years at similar prices to what MCMTB got his for. Sometimes the pawn shops just want them gone and will sell for just a few bucks more than what they paid. NEVER even consider selling your own bike to a pawn shop, they offer you enough to get a pair of sneakers and a McChicken...if you're lucky!

thnk you for this not-so-advice or tip, i did a hole on my hardtail like you did for my internal cabling dropper that i bought online and did a little ride/trail in on it, and yeah! nothing happened on the frame, i mean just a little hole won't make a difference in its quality. But like they say it will void out the warranty and I'm not so concerned about that because cheap built bikes like mine's(which is Aeroic tornado x-5) difficult to claim its warranty. All i can say is It's your personal preference. Love all of your videos man! Sorry for the long comment, cheers! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

In addition, I did some research and realized that box 3 prime 9 with box cranks is about $20 less expensive. Sorry if you got the impression that I think 9 speed is bad, it’s wonderful, especially when compared to the 3x7 on my current bike. (I said that in my original response)
