      Lisa, last year I had my right hip replaced. For me , a positive attitude both before and after surgery was most important. I am grateful all that pain is gone. Good Luck!

    Thanks for a really informative and interesting video. I had mine done on Friday (there's no way of telling for sure if it was a Mako procedure as I'm part of the RACER trial, which is meant to be random (ahem),but from all the pre-op background chatter around what I'd call anchoring points, plus I'm pretty sure in Hexham, where I am, they're keen to roll it out, I think I may have had that. I had my first one seven years ago, without Mako of course and remember the sedation lifting enough for me to be aware of hammering, but I hadn't realised just how much until I saw this. I had a lot more immediate post-op pain this time than last (no idea if that has anything to do with the extra Mako incisions/fixing points), but it has settled well. After a few weeks recovery and really sticking to the physio plan, I'd say it was life transforming, enabling me to walk my greyhounds again for long distances, which I had to stop each time when I had the onset of symptoms and the dreaded 'gait'! So, although not on my patch, thank you for all the great work you do and for embracing new developments and sharing by making these videos. You also happen to have a very pleasant and reassuring delivery and I felt I would be in safe hands. All the best and I salute you sir.

    It can be either a spinal (Local) or a general. We normally recommend a spinal block with sedation so you sleep through the procedure.

Am very scared right now because she's too Young. And I don't trust hospitals here in Zambia maybe a big private hospital

    What I noticed the most is the lack of sterilization in the operating room .. people standing around without gloves or gowns .. and where is the anesthesiologist monitoring the patient??

    • @calleenwrigley8121
      @calleenwrigley8121 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Kerri 🙋🏼‍♀️
      In the operating room they use something called a Lumineers airflow system, this is just a fancy way of saying specialized airflow… think of it like a curtain of fresh clean air surrounding the operating room table. Also that air that is creating that curtain of fresh air is filtered by specialized heap filters and tested very regularly, it also has alert systems that tell us if the air quality is not up to standards of proper procedures set by ARON. Therefore the “sterile zone” of the operating room is around 4-6 feet surrounding the bed. In this video the people within the sterile zone have the proper PPE.
      With this being said the people standing outside of the sterile zone and will NOT be touching anything within the sterile field don’t have to wear sterile gloves or the standard operating room gown… they however are NOT allowed to wear street clothing (they must change into specially laundered scrubs) and they MUST wear a level II mask (specifically approved operating room masks) to be in the operating room.
      The anesthesia provider is safely at the head of the bed and the reason you can’t see them is because whoever made this video is protecting the patients identity by using the visual illustrations in the bottoms right hand side of the video to conceal them at all times.
      All in all I didn’t see anything concerning when watching this video in the light of sterile techniques.
      Hope this helps!

      Patients have the right to know. Patients that I have talked with regarding this issue are appalled. Patients have a right to Privacy and Dignity in the OR. I am in the process as we speak of reporting Salesman in the OR that acted inappropriately in the OR due only to the fact that it was the patient's request that no Salesmen be in the OR. It's a Dirty Little Secret that's not told to patients. And if a Surgeon has questions, that's NOT the Surgeon I would want. It's all about the $$$.

    • @jonconroyroboticsurgery3357
      @jonconroyroboticsurgery3357  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The MPS (Mako Product Specialist) works the machine and is specifically not a sales rep. They are an essential part of the team and highly trained.
      In the UK, only medical staff can scrub up and be involved in the case. I know this isn't the case in other countries.
      Also every person in this video has given written consent to be in it and the patient has consented to each individual being in it (including company staff). This is our hospital policy.
