Anger has both positive and negative impact and choosing positive impact as a way to improve your emotional energy quality is the natural conscious effort to develop. Positive form of anger uplifts one from despair, depression and so on
Every time, there are tears in my eyes, for the one I am behind the person I continue to believe myself to be.

One of the things he said that resonates with me the most was, "You have to choose between being right or being free."
It's like you have to give up wanting to be right in order to give up anger. It makes sense because 'being right' is very ego-reinforcing. This doesn't mean give up on altruism. It just means, give up on trying express 'your truth' to others. Expressing yourself is fine but don't commit to being right.
If someone is causing undue suffering then we have a duty to address it, but we should not get into ..'petty' arguments about 'things' in a state of flux.
There is a 'rightness' to this practice that can be spoken of, but you shouldn't serve a fancy dinner to a child. They want chicken nuggets and fries. Not that either is wrong of course!

I used to want to save the world with a great book or a revitalization of buddhism with Christ but I realize now that is another way of me wanting to be right. As if the way things are right now isn't how it is supposed to be?
And a part of me will say, "Exactly as they are?! With the kids playing in the landfills?! The gucci bags hanging from the ocean reefs?"
...Yes?
Definitely not, entirely a cope.
It seems impossible and entirely without Justice. But when you see through true eyes, the answer is yes
At the same time you do the dharmic work without attachment in order to make the world a better place.

The last story of the Samurai is actually a famous story of ʿAlī, the son-in-law of the Prophet Muḥammad. When he came to slay his enemy on the battlefield, his enemy spit in his face and he sheathed his sword and walked away. When he asked him why he did not take his life, he said: “Because at first, I was engaged in just war for God, but after you spit in my face, I would have slayed you for my own ego, for my righteous indignation.”
But how is it that killing out of identifying as a samurai vs killing out of spite / ego differ?

Wait a sec help me understand this - the samurai says “I don’t want the karma of killing out of anger” but at the same time the samurai would kill out of the duty of a samurai?
The ptsd I have after all this. My partner has rage and anger and takes it out on me and it's very difficult it takes me into a rabbit hole. I'm used to the trauma bond where I learned at a young age that ups and down were normal. I'm constantly on edge and I know that he could get mad at anything I do and explode. It's heartbreaking.
