Bringing 250AP to punch through Oscellos armor is good but it can also be more effective at disabling than HE since it concentrates the damage letting you punch out components faster. Or at least that's what Shipyard says.
Very interesting concept, I think it's silly not to carry some AP since Monitors have 40cm of armor and Ocellos at 30cm of armor are still pretty hard to damage with HE.
I haven't played in awhile. But I've been catching vids when I can, but I have noticed that ever since the new faction dropped, there has been a lot more variety in fleet comps, much less double Axfords and Solomon spam, it seems it became much more well rounded, escorts to go with the capitals. Very nice.
I swear PD efficiency ratings are bugged. it seems to only care for binary success and don't account for whether or not a ship helped defend it's target. i.e. two ships engage a missile threat. Ship A defeats the missile, but Ship B only damages it. It's counted as a success for ship A and a failure for Ship B.
One thing I noticed is that you weren’t paying much attention to the orientation of the sarissa frigate. It looked like most of the time it could only get the bottom sarissas on target, and sometimes when you had it flying away the sarissa in the front mount couldn’t shoot backwards.
Hi. I love your channel! Could you make a tutorial for old dummies like me? You use many short cuts turning your ships in one direction while moving in another. Thanks for the great content!
I would also like to see a gameplay breakdown, even if its just against the ai. I still feel like i have no idea what i really should be doing at any given moment, even though i more or less understand all the mechanics
This one I can do in some post game commentary as opposed to commentating when im playing. I find I get distracted in a sentence and forget my point. I do like the live commentary for what im thinking in the moment but Im sure I can just jot some notes down the game to encapsulate those thoughts.
I think when you moved the ANZ Tooth in the formation at around 16:10, you pulled it into the guns of the talon, hence his calling out being under fire a few seconds later. I did something somewhat similair in one of my games, but I accidentally launched missiles into my PD escort because of formation positioning D:
4 sarissas on frigate could be overkill, could be better to just have 2 (at least no more than 2 fired at the same time) and rotate ship depending on top or bottom position, that will save a lot of points or you can try to fit them somewhere in the main group. Also if could be useful to have some grape shot for 100mm canons, they'll help with missiles and you can use them to disable some mounts on bigger ships. Then again this is all just an IMO based on what I see in this video.
Initial thinking was to take out as much containers as possible. I think as I get better with the fleet, sarissas can be removed off that frigate in favour of something else. Both you and CaptainWolf pointed out no more than 2 were firing at a time (skill issue on me) so I could probably do it already, just want to be sure.
We will watch these gunships with great interest. When I first played the game, I wanted to make guns work pretty badly myself, but the range disadvantage is hard to make up for against both missiles and just bigger guns. Well, game was a bit weird but, how come that ship took so many rounds and still didn't die, is that just because you'd have to manually aim the cannons to find un-hit modules or what? They definitely don't have enough armor to tank HE that hard anyways. I doubt DC was keeping it alive with that many hits but idk.
Likely a couple tanky components in a cluster, couldn’t get grey’d out due to damage threshold and he spreading its damage between them. Ap would be necessary here, otherwise you can shoot he at the drive section until it catches a catastrophic event
Sometimes ships can technically still be operational even if they're basically hollow. I was fighting a Solomon with a light cruiser in a game last night, and because my ammo, and a spare reactor were quite far from the center of my ship, his 450 HE cored basically everything in the middle of the ship, with only the handful of modules still working. He did kill me after a few minutes, but that was with 450s, which have larger HE charge to do more damage, so it eventually whittled me down.
Hey JDee have you fought with/against Blin_Guy? I met some dude named JDee in a match and only after i left the battle i remember nebulous youtuber i often watch named JDee xD
If only it looked a little more like Nexus: The Jupiter Incident and had online play like Eve Online with basebuilding like X series. I give to you: the perfect game.
Hi Levi, I appreciate the feedback as its something I dont notice after I upload. I just let youtube do its thing. I checked for this video, 8 mid roll ads were scheduled by youtube which I agree is a bit much. A look at similiar videos seemed to show the same. When I upload in the future Ill go through and remove some.
See the breakdown of the fleet here th-cam.com/video/N87QL1-S5yU/w-d-xo.html
Man, calling the enemy captain up on the phone while you're shelling him and giving him instructions on how to abandon ship.
xD Everyone's so polite.
Hey, lower your weapons and we'll drop you off back at station.

Its a good point and an oversight in the initial build. If they had been 450 ocellos I would have been in trouble.
Speaking of AP, if one brings 450s, should you bring AP, or just let the sheer power of 450 HE rip ships apart?
@@aethelon4144 450AP will massively overpenn anything the OSP can field. It also does far less damage than HE (100 vs 150).
@@NekoboyBlue so HE spam it is
@@NekoboyBlue what does that mean in this game? The rounds won't actually damage components?

I think running 800 of each would work. Maybe less AP more HE
In hindsight, I agree. Ill make a change to the fleet.

There is a much wider variety of fleets which is nice. Some new ones emerging too.

Going back and rewatching the game again you are right. So much potential not used in that ship. I think this is a learning point for me.

Or a breakdown of your gameplay and what you are doing and how.
I'd say to just look at your controls in the settings menu, I don't think he can go over every action.
@@5x385 I'm watching all the tutorials. Even covering small sections could be helpful. Thanks!

Good eyes, I can see that now.
Can you post .fleet file? I'm interested in seeing how this measures up to my 2x vaux gun/missile fleet
here it is in the steam workshop: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2944302500
0:50 Interesting bug. Frigate wanted to make sure you hadn't forgot about it.
Oh that is a weird bug. I completely missed that.
If you need 250mm AP to fight Ocellos then you definitely need some in case the enemy is Monitors !
Beautiful maneuvering!
Thank you! I am getting better
How do you get enough power out of the FF 4x Sarissa's and a Spyglass ?
Well you get both 6x6 and 3x3 slots, slap a pcc on if still not enough
two Power Control Centres and a micro reactor.

ANS doesn't get access to 100mm or grapeshot
@@risingSisyphus yeah it's my bad, and he had the HE-RPF on his ships, so that point is invalid

The community isn't that huge, you probably did play with him.
I checked through the last videos I captured and couldnt see but I wouldnt be surprised. Ill keep my eye out in future
I feel 4 sarissa is overkill.
No such thing.
Instead of vaporising your opponent, you can always reduce them to atoms :D
3 sarissa is only 1 or 2 more s3h though
It could be. I could swap one or two out for jammers. Ill play test a little more to see how it goes.
