Little tip for telling if a ship is dead: If you see the grey gas eject from a ship, then it's dead. That'll show up as soon as it dies, compared to lifeboats leaving a bit later.
If you want to see what it looks like, go to 23:55 and look at the right side of the screen

You can learn a lot more when things go wrong than when they go right.

Not really, because learning what doesn’t work isn’t really helpful when you’re trying to learn what does work.

This is my philosophy, I like to review what I got wrong so I don't do it again. I will never make the mistake of not pre-firing RPF!

You can learn nothing no matter things go wrong or fine, and you also can get most from both situations as long as you pay attention, learning on mistakes and by good example.
Problem is, most people don't notice until they start to pay.

"I launch a missile barrage" - *launches a single missile from each ship*
I think you could benefit from firing off a few salvos with a lot of these launches you did, especially when you've got a High priority target like a rocket shuttle bearing down on you.
Something I also noticed during your gameplay, is that you only used the tactical map view (space bar) early on, and then only again much later after everything had calmed down.
The Tactical view can help quite a lot when you're feeling urgent, because it pulls you back from what you're currently looking at, which helps force you to be a little more aware of what's going on around you. It also removes a lot of the visual noise like textures and engine exhaust and bits like that, which reduces the amount of information you're subconsciously processing.
I can't say for how your head works, but when I'm playing, I probably spend half my combat time in the tactical view, and tend to use the tactical view whenever I'm doing important manoeuvres.
It would also maybe benefit you to be sitting in "TRU" formation as opposed to "Loose". The TRU formation will keep your formation positions static, but allow the ships to turn on their axis. By keeping the ships in formation, their PD can more easily and more reliably focus down any incoming shots. This would be especially useful given that your ships are supposed to be Clipper hunters, since they're fairly liable to launch a rocket barrage at you when they realise you're a priority for them to eliminate.

Tactical view is also great for keeping track of what your ships are locked on

This was pretty informative, im still a noob, so seeing the decision making process is pretty informative. Maybe do the stomping one from the perspective of the enemy? like what should they have been doing that they werent to stop you winning? Im keen either way.

That team-mate at the beginning with the useful names is using the ship callsigns, which only your team can see. You see the ship's actual names (which the opponent sees) when hovering over them.
Please use the call signs, it helps your team (and only your team) know what you've brought.

Seeing how the OSP playstyle work is very interesting. It show how much of a guerrilla warfare and surprise attack style faction they are. It also very interesting for a narrative campaign where you play as Shelters alliance and you have to patrol a commerce lane but you can’t know for sure whether the civilian ship is actually OSP warship in disguise or not. It force you to hold fire to avoid civilian casualties at the risk of a surprise attack.

wide orbit and evade is a really good hands off way of evasion tanking when you're out in the open on spots like A point

Wait - did they nerf 250 RPF? Because when I last played 250 RPF absolutely massacred corvettes and frigates (Sprinters and Raines tbf), so I'm a bit surprised to hear you say RPF wouldn't do much damage vs the missile shuttle that engaged you there.

I find that the best anti-shuttle swarm weapons are S2 missiles. They rarely mount competent point defense, and just a couple of missile hits will gut a shuttle.
Your best guidance options are CMD and EO, although both are a bit pricy. Both have countermeasures, but they are expensive and rare to see, especially on small ships like shuttles. Critically, they are immune to chaff which is the default defensive option for most shuttle swarms.

I'm reminded that the game still needs a replay function. Good video and I personally find container liner useless once ppl re-learn the PD lesson. I wish I can build them within 2k points--imo I only need 20-40 containers but there's really no economical ways to do it, the hull cost of 1k is just so hard to justify.

    • @Phrosphor
      @Phrosphor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Replays would be so good. I have seen some really good container play but yeah, if the ANS have their stuff together they can overwhelm the missiles as they come in.

most importaint part of dealing with rockets: evasion.
not putting it in "evasive" but moving diagonaly.
Often up/down (ie, not in the ships lenght direction) is best, often you can dodge entire salvo inside 3-4km. But you need the right engine for it.

The weapons and EWar of this game are amazing. I always dreamed of a game deep like that. A pity, on my opinion that ranges are so small and speed so low.. break a lot of the realism. I would also love if there were 3 factions (well maybe someday if the game sells enough)

  • @VanderSalad

Haven't finished the video yet but I wanted to say as a new player that I never thought about using RPF for extra preemptive PD seems really smart. Do you ever directly target the first missile in a barrage with RPF or is that a wasted attempt usually?

    • @tweda4
      @tweda4 ปีที่แล้ว

The short answer is that you don't need to manually target the missiles with RPF, the ship PD AI will do that automatically when the missiles appear on scope.
The long explanation, is that if your PD is set to Auto, and you have cannons without fire orders, that have RPF rounds available, these cannons will automatically switch to RPF, and start engaging enemy missiles.

This game needs more casts and commentary. Lot's of new players with the most recent update, lot's more efficient for 100 people to learn from a video than have 100 1 on 1 mentorships

  • @DeepInsideZettaiRyouiki

I don't think OSP players get immersed by caping points, they test out and get their rocks of tearing your ships apart.
There is no winning really in those games, other than having fun... and looks like they have a shit ton burning through alliance ships with new weapons.

  • @moksound19

This is a very useful format, good stuff. But commentary while playing isn't nearly as good, in my experience.
