Stand out tunes in 89' - Doug Lazy, Bullet - phenomenal track, FBI Project - all of the above! the foundations were bring laid for the madness of 92', and I safely say I was there. Thank the almighty universe for making me when it did because it was beautiful. Big love to all, you know who you are.
I’m from central Florida and am grateful to have caught the tail end of the rave scene here in the late 90’s to early 2000’s. We were famous for Breakbeats. Recently I learned about the birth of the scene in the UK with Acid House. I’d heard the term for years but not understood the significance until I watched a documentary recently. I can hear the influence Acid House has had on electronic music from then until today, even the utilization the same samples. Really cool. This is my favorite Acid House mix I’ve found so far.
In each generation and each year has amazing tunes! There’s some right Gems in here. I appreciate how imaginative and creative they got in 1989 despite the limitations in tech they had available at the time. The style is totally unique and it captures the feeling of the movement and era perfectly! It literally is magic , as I’m hearing it being said in the sample. August 89- Best month of my life! Sunrise, World Dance and The Energy Summer Festival back to back Saturdays in huge fields 12/8 19/8 and 26/8 all 3 events were truly awesome. Happy days, acid nights.
Rave scene was the final British identity sadly, following on from the teddy boys, hippies, mods, skin heads, punks and finally the ravers, We now live in a soulless Britain Wich has unfortunately lost it identity and purpose.
@@force7773 closest thing i can find in modern day Britain is the modified car scene, much like the 90s hot hatch scene , of course we all drove our golf gti or astra gte to the raves often in convoy, In the modified car scene we drive cars in convoy to cruises and meets ( i still have a 90s hot hatch) Over the last 2 years the police are coming down heavy handed on the meets trying to stop them and break them up, stopping convoys of vehicles more often now, For those of us old enough to remember, where have we seen this play out in the past, new age travellers peace convoy and the raves of course. I've always been a petrol head, but the fact that the police and establishment regime hate us makes it all that much sweeter being involved.
I get ya marie but i cant help but be totally chuffed that i was alive at this time and only people who were there could understand the overwhelming feeling of optimism and togetherness that we all had at the time. ill never forget the feeling and atmosphere of those early free raves created by the perfect storm of innovative bran new music and the extasy explosion. We definitely need another summer of love. anyone agree?
