This music led the way for modern dance music... I was there in 88 89 waiting at the phone box for the location of the next rave.. shocking statistic crime dropped by 60% because people worked mon to Fri and raved all weekend...there was never any trouble no alcohol no violence £5 for a bottle of Evian.... wish I had a time machine (thought I was on one after a tab or 2) what an era
Join the club my friend we were running some of the phone lines 😂😂😂😂 as worked with some of the biggest promoters in them days before we started and you know what's mad im still very good friends with Wayne Genesis and Jarvis Biology was actually out with Jarvis the other week at Masquerade at Tobbaco dock old soldiers still living the life 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳great mix by the way 🙌
Just celebrated my wifes 60th. We put this through the speakers last night. Our legs our wrecked. Great night. Our daughter played a funk, disco, house set as well. Reminiscing on the night. Thanks mate.
I was 17 when acid house and house music hit the air waves. We didnt even have raves yet. And i remeber when it all started. There were only two boxes if records to dig from. And two years later the records took over the entire store. (Bills recirds and tapes, Dallas Texas 1997)
God THIS takes me back to the house parties two 1200s a newmark mixer and an amp and two big speakers !!! Acid /house music will NEVER die they still spin house music on Friday and Saturday night here in the chi WHY?? because us house heads will never get enough of it and remember house ain't giving up house ain't going to stop we will keep reaching for reaching for the top!!
I remember leaving a friend's bachelor party at a university bar one night and going directly to the location i knew was throwing a rave. Walking in and hearing acid house, smelling cloves, and patchouli incense was one of the most comforting feelings i had experienced in my 21 years. This had to have been around 1995. Chicago. What a time to be alive
Thanks very much Basement Tracks for putting this mix together. I thought I knew a fair bit about some of the earliest Chi Town records but in all these days (since clubbing from 1985 in the UK) I never heard of the first track Knight Action before. It blew my mind to hear a (new for me) very early track as good as that. Like finding out what preceded the big bang or who shot JFK. :-) An excellent track with an element of acid 303 bassline interspersed in a house track rather than a pure acid tune. (The bassline seems to be the same as Living in A Land so maybe it was one of the default ones that came pre-programmed with the 303 machines. Rickster Night Moves is one of my very fave earlier house tracks but not sure if it was made using a 303. You seem to know your stuff so I guess it was. The Cool J Trax is also not very 303 but your mix version seemed to contain a short squelch segment. So many of these early acid tracks I think were spoiled by adding (too many) vocals. I've Lost Control, Where's Your Child, This Is Acid, Rebels (less so perhaps) would have stood the test of time better if they'd been more instrumental in my humble opinion. What an impressive collection you must have, no wonder you don't show your face or home in the vid so no one steals it. :-) Thanks for the education lesson with R-Trax D-Rail's Knight Action. All the best, Dominic
I was mixing at Medusa in that time. Some of this came in for me to understand and mix. The most far out stuff (sh#t) ! Some of the b-sides were much more fun to play with. I miss the old games and days 😢
Phuture Acid Tracks has always been one of my favourites. Sleazy D just used to frighten me haha *edit* Just finished that mix, that was awesome, many thanks for doing that.
@@robinsss Yeah, it's one of those things debated on the interwebs. I would tend to agree with you, since this one is from 85 and technically speaking Acid Trax (tape from 85, released on vinyl in 87) was the first one. I did include it, however, for three reasons. It does use the Roland TB303 and as such it definitely qualifies as proto acid at least, it is considered Acid House on the discogs firums and tagged as such, and finally because I think Duane Thamm is an unsung hero of the house scene. We always hear about Jesse Saunders, DJ Pierre or Marshall Jefferson, but people like Duane Thamm, Marcus Mixx and James Jackrabbit were true pioneers and don't get that much credit. Thanks for listenting!

Thanks for listening :- )
Some tracks are less acid, yes. At some point I should create a follow-up to this one with pure acid tracks.
Great Mix! Tight Transition.
Top mix sir. That Phuture Acid Trax takes some beating. Well done 👍
Good job here.
I thought this was gonna be a documentary. I enjoyed it though. I even had my lil bounce going like back when I use to spin.

that's a good one, one Play House Records. I have it, but (unless you refer to a different tune) it's more housey than acid. Cheers!
Phuture Acid Tracks has always been one of my favourites. Sleazy D just used to frighten me haha
*edit* Just finished that mix, that was awesome, many thanks for doing that.
That copy is beaten up to death and yet playable. I think because even the needle is scared of that track. Thanks for listening!
Thank you for taking the time to put this mix together. Great classic acid house mix brother.
Master piece 🤝🏾👍🏾
Great Job!
There are some great jams there. Thank you for this journey.

I Guess my Acid house collection from back in the day maybe worth a few £ by now, 🥰🥰🥰
Fo shizzle!
Awesome job!
Fucking amazing. London, Summer '88 for me. Thank you. :-)
Wicked mix.
Nice
Banging! What was the bass frequency modulator they used to get the ‘acid ‘ signature sound? A ds3?
It was done by altering the filter resonance and cutoff frequency on the Roland TB-303.
👌👌👌
Jodyolridge the house head from the factory 😅❤
tremendous mix, thank you and respect
Dope mix! Nice
class mix!
