To reach the level that Haggerty has reached in Muay Thai is an incredible achievement. He's fast becoming my favourite fighter. Exciting to watch, always comes to fight and his technique is beautiful.
Specially when you know that most of the thais he faced had 3 times the experience...

@@Achillusgaming he is kind of right tho. Haggerty insane fighter, Muay Thai virtuoso , but can struggle against particularly tough opponents. One of my fav fighters, even more impressed with rodtang as he ran over haggerty twice like a hamster in a rolling ball

seriously, good observation I keep forgetting the experience gap and he does well with the best Nak Muays in the world who have like 5-8 times more experience than him. Hats off to him. This was a tremendous fight, I think Thais will do much better once they start coming blasting from the gate like angry coked out Tony Montana.

@@MIKOLBZ i don't think is simple like that. On the third round Haggerty adapted and was able to shutdown Mong agression. I was cheering for Mong because i love the Thai's but hats off for Haggerty man!

That last minute was pure respect. Thai guy was hurt and Haggerty went easy and didn’t do any more damage than he had to. That’s how it usually goes in Thailand when a fighter gets cut and dominated, they usually go easy on each other till the end of the last round, mainly throwing body shots and jabs, not any elbows, kicks or knees. They do it out of respect and so the losing fighter can heal faster. These guys try to fight at least once a month when they’re up and coming. Great fight.
But didn't Haggerty sent several elbow in the third round?
Haggerty is seriously one of the best strikers in combat sport. He's fast and technical, if he had a tougher physique he'd be unstoppable.

I was scared shitless by monkolpetchs output in the second, he came out so hard, massive heart by Jonathan for comin back in the third
I am loving the quieter fight environment because you can hear the grunts/voices/hit impact of the fighters and feel the intensity of the fight. A large stadium with a huge audience and all that screaming sometimes just take away the entertaining bits of fights from the digital audience. I wonder whether ONE Championship can apply a sound capture system that captures the sounds of the actual fighters/fighting at closer range, maybe filtering out the noise, for viewers. Not suggesting to strap the fighters with hanging microphones, but perhaps putting more sound capture devices at the edges of the ring/hanging on top or having fights in a soundproof transparent bubble of some sort so that the sound of the fights can be captured better (and then played out to the stadium). I think the fighters will appreciate less noise too.
Yeeeah man! That's what I thought, when I couldn't hear what the coaches were saying because of commentators. I know it's their job, but I would really appreciate more fights without comments.
I agree too you can concentrate on the technical and corner game. Same with football

What a great fight, the way Haggerty was as able to dump Mongkolpetch several times in the first round, Not as easy task for to do to a Thai... Then Mong went crazy in the second, body hunting, Both were tired in the 3rd.. Regardless of who wins or looses, such a fun fight to watch, some MMA fights become boring, lay on each other not much action , not this fight, so exciting...
I watched it live yesterday and I honestly thought on that second round that john will lose the fight but he came back strong. I think he blew out a lot of energy in his first and those shots to the body surely didn't help. But he came back strong in the third. Great fight!
And as always I think one championship should have 5 round fights on main events.
Those body shots did help but Mongkonpeth looked gassed in the 3rd it makes Haggerty came back aggressive again
At the 2nd rd Jon lost his footing maybe he cramped.That happens when you get over trained

Great performance by Jonathan Haggerty most especially in the opening round, even though he got battered and beaten in the second. He needs to get rid of his habit of letting his opponent get him cornered, shelling up, and just letting his opponent tee off on him to maximize his chances of winning when he finally faces Rodtang again for third time.
That shelling up is something 9 out of 10 muaythai and also kickboxers do . It's because they don't have head movement like boxers do . Also in one they use small gloves .Some fighters still have the habit to cover up .With those big gloves you can cover up and don't get hit clean. But with those small gloves that's just impossible ,to do without getting hit.
Now some elite fighters who mastered the Muay femur style ,they use a lot of movement head movement footwork ,and different stances.But your avarage muaythai fighters doesn't fight like that.
Haggerty did good he only lost against the elite,s. Guys like rodtang and superlek and there is no shame in that .
@@ryufight7987 his loss to superlek was only because of a cut though also, it’d be a good rematch to see down the road. It was competitive before that.
I love these Muay Thai fights with the MMA gloves, it’s even better than MMA.
Needs longer rounds or more rounds though, it feels too short especially in the non-title fights.
You can’t say one is better than the other it’s just 2 different striking styles, for example me personally would rather watch a mma fight where the majority of the fight is striking compared to Thai but that’s just me.
@@christophermorrison2626 well you can because one is objectively technically superior to the other in terms of stand up.
Really tough stand up wars in MMA are good but they’re not that common, when you get a good one though I agree they’re more exciting to watch and it’s a lot to do with the fact they can follow each other down to the ground for knockdowns.
Overall though besides those fights, Muay Thai with MMA gloves is a lot more exciting to watch than MMA. I love both sports though, it’s not a knock on MMA.

nice one haggerty you kept up the pressure at the start which was the key, I think you need to work on your core more because we could tell those punches where getting too you, well done for the reset moving around the ring to recover, nice moves of your elbows, this has been your best performance.

Lets go General! pretty naive of monkolpetch to hinge his entire plan on "go for the body because he is weak there" i believe that thought process comes from seeing how rodtang relentlessly pressured him with body shots in their last fight, but anyone would seem weak to body shots against rodtang... it was an excellent fight and if monkolpetch could have kept up the pace he showed in the 2nd round it could have had a very different ending.
Most Thai fighters always underestimate foreign fighters. Haggertys style is exciting, kicks and punches and all sorts of offensive

@@keithprice1950 they who? Mongkolpet was nearly dominated by what was essentially a random 19 year old in his last fight before this one (even worse since he lost by UD on a Petyindee show). Not to take anything away from Fluknoi, he is a very good prospect, but getting outfought in his own specialty (pressure clinch) was a terrible look for Mongkolpet.

that had to be one of the most one sided round i have seen in muay thai in a while Haggerty looked absolutely amazing this round if anyone can beat Rodtang who i'm convinced is not human but actually is a T-1000 machine from the terminator movie is Haggerty a white British guy lol never thought i would be saying that but if he brings this version i believe he can pull the upset but it willl be an absolute war and if he does pull it of it will be by inchs bc like i said Rodtangs a Machine when it comes to Muay thia its actually scary if i had to choose to fight Rodtang or a top ten middleweight i wouldn't hesitate and would pick death
