I started this channel in order to document life as it gets lived. It's about where I live, how I live, where I travel, why I travel, and so much more. Eclectic is a good word for the content to be found here. I hope you will come along for the ride!

Something I went through when I "retired" was that I went through a whole year of just not being motivated to do anything. I became a total couch potato. It was like decompression for working all those years in a pretty high stress environment. I think it's something that people don't realize that they need. After a while, I just started to get interested in doing things again and now I don't have enough hours in a day to do all the things I want to do. I always had hobbies, but never enough time to do them properly and loved gardening but really got into it after retirement. There is so much to learn and it's so easy now with everything online that I have a list that's a mile long, lol. Give yourself the time to transition and don't feel guilty. One thing though, always get dressed in the morning and make sure to clean your kitchen sink every evening. It helps to have some order in life :)

I think there are so many of us boomers who nearing, in or wishing-we-could-start retirement that are longing for just - normal. Our lives didn't turn out like we'd envisioned and long to like to have friends that reflect our fendered bicycle, mom's home cooked dinner, honest upbringings. But in this mad mad world, we have too few. We like to think we've now found at least one here in you. Thanks, friend!

I have both my children on everything I have… each one with different responsibilities.
I am a2014 Dave Ramsey graduate. Yearly I write down all my current expenses and put it in the fireproof box where I keep my will, copies of my power of attorney, living will and other important documents.
As a nurse that’s had difficulty locating people in an emergency for patients that need emergency medical care, please get your information in writing and copies in your billfold and copies to all your children and mom.
In June One of my sons - in-law fell dead while standing beside my daughter … they were married 4 years. No will, living will , or power of attorney but had life insurance. He had told my daughter what he wanted if he ever needed CPR or a ventilator so the EMS honored that.
Banff,Canada is in middle Canada. I’ve been on the Rocky Mountain Railway from Banff area to Vancouver,B. C. Beautiful scenery.
I toured 3 weeks in Alaska with John Hall’s Kiss of Alaska from Minnesota. Awesome experience with superb people along the way. I have life long friends from that trip in 2009. Feel free to pm me if any questions on travel. I’m a former cross country truck driver and currently world traveler.

Re your trip to Scotland: I suggest you contact the American base in Scotland where you were briefly posted. They may be able to accommodate you on your own, and possibly your family group.
It may be a straight out “no” or there may not be enough time to arrange security clearances for everyone. But it is worth asking.
And last of all, the left side of the road is not the “wrong” side. Here in the UK it is the *correct* side of the road. Be extra careful at intersections when turning onto other roads because your brain will want to go to the familiar.

I toured the Brittania (royal ship) 15-20 ? minutes from Edinburgh. Pretty cool if you like that kind of stuff.
Alaska cruise ships are in the south and you get the gist of what Seward is like. I drove around Alaska and did a day cruise. (Chena Hot Springs is really cool - just north of Fairbanks).
Your video and audio are real quality.
Can't wait to visit Chattanooga. Didn't realize 3 states came together south of there!

I THANK you for being available for your mom… nothing is wrong with living with your mom. My oldest daughter …Army retired…and her adult son have over time lived with me… eventually I will live with one of them as I age.
Like you… I enjoy being Single and plan to keep it that way.

I have friends and family in Tennessee.
The first few months of my retirement from nursing in 2015 I literally slept, ate then did repeat.
I’m now active with church, community, family , new friends, travel or just reading a book.

When I reviewed your list of videos just now, I was gobsmacked to see that I had already watched two of them previously... Don’t remember them vividly, but I'm sure they will seem familiar when I watch them again. (I wish YT had the ability to show me the date WHEN I've watched a video previously.)

I have to tell you that finding your channel is inspiring me to consider starting a TH-cam channel. I thought about it for a while, but just considered it to be in the young person’s exclusive domain. We have a number of things in common, including a very eclectic view of what we want our topics to be on TH-cam. As a nurse you must have a Healthcare POA, advanced directives Living Will). That said your girls can override your wishes if they want. At least let them know your final wishes. Great topic for a video. Also avoiding probate. You can avoid probate easily without fancy trusts. I’ve done it. Another video topic! So enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work

I missed getting to the live since I was just about bringing my mom (96) back home after taking her shopping. I am glad you recorded this though. Lots of good questions and answers. I figured Alycce Bunch was you daughter when I read her comments. How nice to have your family's support! When you finish with all your decluttering there, and if you get really bored, maybe you can come help me clear out my bunch of things because I think I will be doing this for many years. Sigh. Keep enjoying what your doing and letting us watch for the wisdom.

Tim - Love your videos. Watched this one recorded. What you and others are looking for is "POD" - Payable on Death. You do not need to add your kids to your bank accounts - you just need to add them as "POD" = Payable on Death. Any money you have in the bank - automatically becomes theirs AND they do NOT have to go through probate!!

Hi Tim, Enjoy your retirement. I'm 60 and as a woman will never retire. 🤣I'll always have something to do. My husband said I retired when the kids were born, 😂. I have a few hobbies, and this is very important. My husband is retiring soon and has no hobbies except his car and motorbikes. I've been asking him what he would like to do and have suggested a few things. Still asking. I think I buy him a skippo bag. A skippo bag is a big 1 metre by 1 metre by 1 metre bag to put the detritus of life into and its collected. Rubbish gone. I think I'll get him to declutter the house. It might take a few years. 😂My dad retired at 60 and had 17 years of fun with my mom. They traveled and played golf and visited family around the world. I love your take on life. I couldn’t join the livestream due to time difference- I’m in the south west of the UK , Somerset. Really enjoyed listening. It’s like having a conversation with a friend. I subscribed as TH-cam put your famous 4 July video in the top of my feed. I enjoy decluttering and simple living videos and have found your videos really interesting. As a recently retired person myself I am trying to encourage my husband to simplify and declutter his stuff!!😂. Thinking mainly of what we are leaving for our daughter to sort out! We have both done our wills and have power of attorney in place, financial and health for me, financial for my husband. It’s great to see and hear what your plans are. Hope you continue to grow your channel and develop a great community 😊

YT controls what people see. They put the thumbnails up as a recommended channel. I subscribe to a great many channels, about 150 or so. It def is a chore making and editing a video so if y'all think it's easy then give it a try. The more involved you get the most the cost is because you're constantly upgrading your equipment. People from the western hemisphere like to see what the people from the eastern hemisphere are doing, how they are doing it and why they are doing it. Some channels are redundant and get boring after awhile so if you can keep the viewers interested then you will do well. Best of luck to you.

I had to choose between your live Q&A and the US Open tonight. It was the middle of the night here in Germany. Hi, Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your live stream last night. To be honest I didn’t watch it live because I never remember until after they’re started and I don’t like to miss anything. Also, I haven’t watched “live” TV in years because I’ve become used to being able to pause whenever I want. Even so, I did watch it all the way through after it streamed and I have to say I think it was your best video yet! You were warm, honest and you really let your sense of humor rip. Loved that! Very often I find live streams a little tedious because they move very slow, but yours was far from that. In retrospect I now wonder if many of those other TH-camrs were kind of doing it on the fly. You on the other hand were very well prepared and it really showed. The only bad thing (teeny, tiny) was that now that I know you were an English teacher and you LOVE diagramming sentences I’m a little intimidated. Luckily for us both, I’m an adult and I’ll get over it! Lol!…..Thank goodness for spell check!

Michigan has about 200 named waterfalls, with only one of them in the lower peninsula. Please bring your camera to the Upper Peninsula (U. P.) for Taquamenon Falls and Bond Falls.

If the place is paid off I would rent a room or 2 to cover expenses. Real estate is only going to continue to go up in price along with rent. There is a real need for furnished housing for young professionals that work 13 week contracts in medical and other fields. They tend to be working or out exploring the area, so you hardly know you have anyone else around. Just a thought.. Your channel is growing, because your videos are interesting, the audio is good and the content has variety. I tuned in for a different prospective on retirement, but have really enjoyed your content, When I subscribed you, had less than a hundred... I purposely look at small channels, because they have different content and sometimes I learn about local places and history, that you would not know if you only follow the mainstream crowd. I would produce the content you want and not worry too much about TH-cam analytics. Let the viewer decide which videos they want to watch, and produce content that makes you happy. Thank you for putting yourself out here and allowing us to have a glimpse into your NRM life.
When I was a travel nurse the company owned furnished apartment complexes.
@@peggybaggenstoss3817That is great, but that is more common back east and for larger metropolitan areas and for nursing, but other medical professionals like PT, MD, DO, Respiratory Therapy , ect you are on your own to find lodging, especially in rural areas. The agency's will sometimes give you a list of places that others have rented, but more likely not, because there are housing shortages in a lot of the places that are having trouble staying staffed.

I was going to ask if you would be willing to do a video about editing for the “dummy”. I use a computer for charting at work but editing from videos I take on my iPhone would be amazing for a vlog I’ve been wanting to start for years now.
