  • Since I first asked myself, what is minimalism? I've been going down a rabbit hole of learning to be intentional. Financial discipline and intention is part of that, along with that is learning how to save money also known as financial Minimalism. Here's what I've learned this far.

I love houseplants and to lower the expense - I started volunteering at a plant place and in change for that, I get plants.

I watch my father save almost 1 million dollars, no investments, just old-fashioned savings, while making only 40k a year. This stuff really works.

Great video! I've been slowly making a lot of changes over the past few years, too. The biggest one for saving money has 100% been home cooking all food and drinks. I live communally in a house with 6 people, and we share the duties of cooking. Cooking and processing food is so laborious, but goes much more efficiently with a big household. Often, we will be fully stocked with multiple meals a day + snacks and desserts. We also make our own tea blends and kombucha for beverages. The amount I've saved from not buying packaged meals at the grocery store has been so much more than I expected. Especially, splitting the grocery bill 6 ways helps with the upfront costs and keeps us all accountable to each other to buy inexpensive ingredients. We will also hire a friend (often bartering w them) to help clean once a month with all of us to get it knocked out.
Along with that, we also utilize our fireplace for heating since wood is free in the suburbs (people cut down trees all the time, you just have to chop it and let it age!) and use box fans to keep our A/C bill down in the summer.
Living in a tight-knit home or community also helps a lot as we share bikes and vehicles as well as tools and skills. We can all change our car oil or repair our bikes at home (and help each other learn how to do so!). The best cooks, cleaners, crafters, mechanics, and gardeners in our house have been teaching us all their skills as well!
Otherwise, I've been getting really extreme with it lately as well. About to set up solar and just bought a mobile home so I can stop renting. After that, my only monthly expense would be my cell phone bill. xD
I notice I only use my cell service to text about 4 people. All of my other communications are through internet messengers, so my next project is setting up a Meshtastic network in our city so we can message without needing centralized cell services.

Not a minimalist, but I do subscribe to most of what is done in minimalism. I would say you've got a good outline here. Keep it up. Do what makes you happy!

Quality of life can be very high if you don't go into debt. A 10 pound bag of chicken from Costco is 15 bucks. Buy some rice for $10 and you got food everyday for two weeks. Save enough money to afford a major asset like a house and your life is forever good.

I especially resonate with the cell phone part. I can't see paying a lot of money for a cell phone or cell phone service. I use Tracfone, and they also have plans for Unlimited Talk and Text with 24 GB Data. QVC and HSN have sales on them, QVC is usually the better sale. They have the phones with the 1500 minute plans but they also have the phones with the Unlimited plans which is much better. Great cellular service with Tracfone, too, and no monthly bill for service. Steer clear of the BLU View phones, the Samsung are much better.

I pay the credit card balance 1 week before the statement prints for sure...but because the interest is charged on the average daily balance I pay the charge within a few days.

    Okay.... a few things lol:
1.)First congrats on the move lol
2.)You're looking good! Keep up the good work 💪
3.)Awesome video per usual always giving good advice! I too am an party pooper when it comes to eating out especially here in Japan I can make what I like with the seasonings and flavors I prefer for cheaper at home ahaha. Also, meal prepping has helped save money and lose a good amount of weight just naturally which is a plus.
4.)I too am a germaphobe and I am definitely judging people who buy mattresses second hand LOLLL
You're def one of my favorite content creators! Looking forward to the next video.
