For those asking, the song in this video is one of mine. It's called "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" by Joe Gilder. Listen here: open.spotify.com/track/0cngyiufrBUezyl4AXbbO5?si=ND0OLYNYTUm4xlYEYAvkUw
I've never thought to EQ the reverb channel but it makes perfect sense. I always just figured "the dry signal is EQed how I want, so the reverb will sound good too." Wrong! Great tips, thanks for this video 👍
I also see a reverb, when mastering, as a small light glue for the track. i find that a reverb in the main bus, with restraint, really helps things settle together.
"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made "👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 A Beeeeeeeeautiful song, thanks for the lesson and thanks for sharing this beautiful music with us. Stay blessed. Enjoy ✌🏿
LOVE your tutorials. Sorry if you already have a video on this, but can you make a video on stereo placement and achieving a full, yet proper mix. Thank you!
Lost in the 70s has a couple of great free Spring Reverbs in The Devil Spring. Took me months to find the presets. Naturally assumed that it was super basic if it was free. lol
man that song is awesome, i´m totally blown away....... thanks for these videos. I´m new to studio one and recording itself but i wish i´d reach your level one day. thanks again
Wow thank you, I always thought it was because I was using cheap reverb and all along it was the fact I never eq’ed the reverb because I would work to make sure that my parts had enough sparkle, body and meat and I wanted to add reverb as a mood enhancer but what I got was frequency’s that I had to fix when the overall tone was good without it so I’ve learned something today and I want to be like a good chef and make people go WOW! in a good way
Hi Joe - another helpful video! Thank you! I was wondering if it would be more effective to have the EQ go before the reverb so it doesn’t even have the low end to process to begin with? Thanks!
I use your template all the time for mixing and I gotta say those reverb sound beautiful! My clients love the sound and so do I. I Barely use any other reverb plugin. The only thing I do is change maybe the EQ of the reverb a bit or play around a little with the reverb plugin, it all depends on what the mix needs. Thanks for this video, helped me understand more how to use these reverbs. Probably I'll buy the Convology for that Spring Reverb because it's the only reverb I don't have.
Thanks a lot for that video! Great Job and perfect explaining Joe! Thanks for the helpful tipps with reverb - it is a mysterious region in Mixing. Greatings from Austria 👍
I use a ton of reverb. On snare only and really to cover the space between hits. Because snare is th slowest and spacious of them all i give snare respect, space wo taking the balls out of the ecuation
It appears as though you are using mono tracks for your reverbs and panning them down the middle? I used to create a mono track and make a dedicated reverb for each track panned at the same position as the instrument. Now I just create a stereo track and pan wide stereo left and right for reverb even if a mono signal is being sent to it. Which is ideal choice? Great video! Thank you!
Thanks for the mix tips ! I'm a guitarist, and I have 4 reverbe pedals on my board (yeah I'm a sucker for reverbe), and I even if I'm totally happy with how I sound on my guitar with those effects, I couldn't find how to do it in my mix
Thanks for the great video. I have a question. Do you use reverb and delay together? If yes, when you should and shouldn't use them? I don't find any content about delay in this channel.
Joe, how is your reverb track at such a low volume & all effect when the slider is at 0 ? When I attempt this, my reverb track is just as loud & duplicated as the track being sent to the reverb & sounds no different than just putting reverb on the original instrument track. I cannot get this figured out.
Hi Joe! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Im interested in knowing your thoughts on doing a parallel reverb setup vs what you show in this video. Im thinking it’s pretty much the same thing but done in different ways, no?
Thank you for another great video, Joe! I was listening to your “fighter” the other day! “Amen” is a great EP!! Compliments and greetings from the Netherlands.
I like to do all my mastering within DaVinci Resolve, using no 3rd party plugins ... not super sophisticated, I know, but it more than satisfies my needs and purposes. I struggle with reverb only for one reason, and I hope you can clarify. When I apply reverb, it seems like the volume (loudness) of the track really diminishes to the point where maxing the volume on my speakers doesn't cut it. Sadly, GarageBand does reverb more easily (although adds way too much). For classical music, the contrast between soft and loud is crucial, so I wonder if you have any comment on that.
Hello Joe. You have very good tutorials. I wonder. Is it possible to use effects on just a section/part of a track. I.e delay on a single guitar one or two times during a song, when the guitar is normal the rest of the song track ?
4:20 the reference about Phil collins sound. Would you be able to demonstrate how they achieved the sound because I always pay attention to it when I listen to genesis song and always wanted to know how it was done
02:17 As u say most contemporary mixed use it for flavor. But i for one would appreciate when it really is used to place sound into a virtual space . Any help with convolution reverb/ impulse response for those of us in classical music? Cathedral? No. But theaters and halls, yes PLEASE.
That was a really nice mix and song. Only observation is the snare was distracting and lacked distance in the mix. More reverb like the rest of the instruments would sweetened it.
Thanks for the video and I'll study it more. My head must be screwed wrong - I genuinely like the un-reverbed mix better than the reverbed. The notes are better articulated rather than lost in a dull sonic cloud. anyway - again thanks.
Hey Joe! Nice tips, thanks a lot! I see you have your faders above 0 point. Why not dragging down all of the faders in the project, together, so as the most higher goes under 0 point, and you'll have the same mix, a few db quieter? Isn't that working in the same way as to EQs - better to cut than to boost? Thanks!
Don`t really see the point of doing so. As long as his mixbuss is not clipping or overloading id doesent matter if the faders for the tracks are at + 6db or - 15.. Its better to be closer to 0 if u want do do autmation but it wont affect the sound at all honestly :-)
Joe, massive fan! Thank you for this channel and I'm thinking about switching to Studio1. Is it a 1-time buy or is there a recurring cost structure? I use pro-tools and it is expensive with the subscription
Studio One has no ongoing subscription costs just the initial purchase. Version 'updates' ( v4 to v4.1 for instance) are free of charge but every two/three years there'll be an 'upgrade' from version 3 to 4 for instance, which carry an upgrade cost. There are three levels of software including a free one but the full Pro version is available on a 30 day free trial, so nothing to lose, go ahead and try it - most users find it quite intuitive to use.
Pls help, I have a bus with all my Processing and i wanna root it to every vocal and then i wanna do tracks with reverb and without but with only one reverb bus, but when i try it, the vocal is getting doubled

these videos are some of the most helpful audio engineering videos I've seen, I feel like I'm actually learning things! Thank you so much!!
Yes; his videos are awesome. Right to the point and very helpful. He’s got a great “radio voice” too.
I've never thought to EQ the reverb channel but it makes perfect sense. I always just figured "the dry signal is EQed how I want, so the reverb will sound good too." Wrong! Great tips, thanks for this video 👍

I love that unique accent damn, sounds like a southerner mixed with an African american, really cool love from Australia
"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made "👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

LOVE your tutorials. Sorry if you already have a video on this, but can you make a video on stereo placement and achieving a full, yet proper mix. Thank you!
Thank you for that. These were some of the best pieces of advice I've been given so far
WOW. A good amount of this I was aware of, but that trick with the near 7 second decay plate reverb got you my sub. One closer to 200k!
yessssss... thank youuuu... you explain things so well! That low end reverb muddy stuff is real!
thank you keeping it simple and explaining what room, spring, and plate reverbs are and when to use them. Very Helpful
put wet reverb on master, does something to mixes i cant explain
/s
Keep teaching me the ways sensai Joe
This Video changed everything. It solved a problem I never even realised I had all the time - thank you so much! :)
You have the best voice!👌👌👌
Using reverbs as pads is something I do often when I produce trance, and in my opinion is crucial trick.
Excellent Joe! I’m a huge fan of the reverbs in Studio One; especially, the Plate reverb.
Great use of various reverbs Joe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Beautiful voice! 😊
That was one of the best mixing tutorials I’ve watched. Thank you 😁
"You are so much more than words upon a screen." ~ You could drench that in reverb and it would still be awesome!
Lost in the 70s has a couple of great free Spring Reverbs in The Devil Spring. Took me months to find the presets. Naturally assumed that it was super basic if it was free. lol
Great teaching video brother. I really appreciate you sharing your skills.
How awesome is Joe! Thanks a lot man for the education. May God bless you more.
As usual learned about more than just the subject, another awesome video, Thanks!
Great tip on EQ'ing the reverb! Just tried it on a song I'm mixing and it made a huge difference!
If u put OTT plugin in reverb channel it's controlling reverb's some distraction
Joe that's a really great tip man! I have never really thought about running eq on the actual reverb. Thanks 👍
Thanks brother.......for your knowledge
Great Video! Didn't know Studio One's Room Reverb is that powerful
Thanks Joe! Will use this. Esp the part about EQing reverbs.
Hey Joe, is there anyway you could make an instructional video on how to use the IR Maker in Studio One?
EQing the reverb channel..
Life saver!
It's a mood with the reverb. Cool
man that song is awesome, i´m totally blown away.......
thanks for these videos. I´m new to studio one and recording itself but i wish i´d reach your level one day. thanks again
Dude just found your channel and love your videos. Super helpful. Thanks for sharing. Studio One 4 user here!!.
I loved this video. Only I am only my third song ever, recording and mixing with S1. Your tutorials are brilliant.
Thanks Joe. Great tips!
You're into is better than all those damn mixibg books I've brought. Thanks brother

you have a beautiful voice bro. Adding that to my spotify playlist!
Very much helpful. Thx bro
Joe this reverb video was great. Thanks for the info
Hello Joe, that's a beautiful sounding track. This is a very helpful video and some very good points to bear in mind, thank you for making this video.
Thanks Joe! So crucial to cut out the lows on reverbs!!!
Thanks for the mix tips !
I'm a guitarist, and I have 4 reverbe pedals on my board (yeah I'm a sucker for reverbe), and I even if I'm totally happy with how I sound on my guitar with those effects, I couldn't find how to do it in my mix

Thanks. Needed these tips.
2 newb ?'s. When i add reverb, and effect to a track, is there a default preset amount of of effects I'll get?
Hi Joe! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Im interested in knowing your thoughts on doing a parallel reverb setup vs what you show in this video. Im thinking it’s pretty much the same thing but done in different ways, no?
Hi, Mr. Joe Gilder. Wow! I've missed you man. Always fun watching you teach Production tips. Thanks for what u do. Trust ur new studio doing great
Hey Joe, maybe I didn't catch this but did you mention whether you're running your aux sends pre-fader/post-fader?
Good stuff! my mises have gotten much better since trying some of your techniques
What an amazing channel I just found! Thanks for the tips man and great tutorials :) I will be watching all the videos soon haha
Keep it up!
Hi Joe. Don't you SC reverb sends?
Great stuff as always, Joe... Hope to see you at James' studio next time your in Houston.
Thank you. Great advice and I like the song. Sounds a bit like one of my favorite musicians (Ellis Paul). Where can I find this track?
Thank you for another great video, Joe! I was listening to your “fighter” the other day! “Amen” is a great EP!! Compliments and greetings from the Netherlands.
This was really helpful. Thanks Joe!
Thank you for these good tips!
This video is helpful, but the song is great 👍 nice work man
nice bro...thanks
Blessing

Reverb, that thing u spend a cool thau erasin from your room. Now with knobs!
Thnx man! Direct information, it will help me a lot

Answering on today's video!
4:20 the reference about Phil collins sound. Would you be able to demonstrate how they achieved the sound because I always pay attention to it when I listen to genesis song and always wanted to know how it was done
Usually a gated reverb. blog.presonus.com/2022/03/25/ez-80s-gated-mixverb-drums/
the song! ✨♥️
If I have a mono vocal track, what should I use, mono or stereo reverb? Thank's
LOL, not hearing the muddy mess... More really helpful information I've never seen before. Thank You...! B-)

Do you have vocals mix turturial
Hello. Whose song is this and where can I listen to it?
Thanks for the video and I'll study it more.
My head must be screwed wrong - I genuinely like the un-reverbed mix better than the reverbed. The notes are better articulated rather than lost in a dull sonic cloud.
anyway - again thanks.
Thanks Joe, Im on it
That's a clean mix Joe! Did you really only use stock plug-ins?
very nice
Man! I want to hear the song, what's the name of that song and where can I hear it? Love the vibe of it.
"Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" by me, Joe Gilder. Search it up on streaming platforms.
Dude. I love you! 😆
How are the solo icons green and not yellow?
I learned a new word today "boingy". :-)
hi there master joe, do you also group your effects in a bus or is it always routed to main out? thanks.
Usually just to the main out. I've done an FX bus before but most of the time it just takes up space and doesn't serve much of a purpose.
@@HomeStudioCorner thank you very much !
Great

Love the tutorial (like always)....also loving the song! Is it released and I missed it or is it on the way? Thanks Joe!
It's on my last EP "Amen." The song is called "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made"
What are impulses..?

Set reverb to 100% wet
@@HomeStudioCorner in the Plugin? Cause even i do it in the Plugin its getting doubled
No clue
Good video Joe. Reverb gives music flesh, warmth and depth. Without it the music would tend to sound flat and two dimensional.
hlo Joe...after long time...thank u so much
I want to listen to the whole song haha!
Go look up "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" by Joe Gilder on Spotify, Apple Music, etc.
