  • Earth Assemblies for Climate Justice
After 30 years of climate negotiations, it is clear that the United Nations will not produce the necessary results to avoid climate collapse.
With the Paris Agreement, greenhouse gas emissions will drop by barely a tenth of what is necessary to limit the increase in temperature below 1.5ºC.
COP27 has been marked by intense lobbying from governments and oil companies seeking to postpone the exit from fossil fuels.
The industrialized economies have eliminated from the negotiations the acknowledgment of the climate debt towards the countries and social groups that have contributed very little to climate change.
Climate justice can only come from below, from civil society, from Earth Assemblies that build territories free of extractivism, consumerism, pollution and violence.
The fight against climate collapse is linked to the struggles against war, fascism, capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy and racism.
Earth Assemblies not only of peoples but of nature, where we build non-anthropocentric systemic alternatives.
Assemblies of the Earth to recover the essence of humanity and overcome the crisis of care.
Earth Assemblies in neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, communities and municipalities that promote simple and moderate societies that guarantee human rights and the rights of Nature.
Earth Assemblies to promote a structural transformation of the United Nations system: where all countries are equal and there are no States with the right to veto; where there is a tripartite representation in equal conditions of governments, civil society and nature; and where binding agreements are adopted to restore balance to the Earth system.
Today the COP27 is in Egypt an oil country with more than 60,000 political detainees. Next year it will be in the United Arab Emirates, which has serious human rights violations.
It is time to strengthen the struggles that come from below.
It is time to strengthen the alternatives of resistance from the territories.
It is time to unify our initiatives in a great Global Assembly of the Earth that breaks with the hypocrisy of climate change conferences and begins to mark a path of true hope and action with climate justice.
