I've had these since 85. It's a flaw that always costs a chassis. They don't like jumps and fast motors as you pointed out. However shortening the rear swing arm travel helps as the dog bones bind in the cups pushing the swing arms out like a hammer drill. This also used to speed up the wear of the old hex head design axles. I still love Tamiya with all their design flaws and over engineering 😅
The pink and chevron livery looks great on your B.H. Hotshot II. Well done. I noticed you said shocks are around 90 mm all around. Is the front shock/front suspension the same as the Boomerang's? I have 87-88 mm long shocks I'd like to use as a monoshock on a Tamiya (Boomerang, Super Sabre, not sure yet), but I don't have the car yet. I wonder if it'd be an okay fit?
Appreciate the compliments! I think you’d be fine with those dampers. You’re only talking a 2-3mm difference. That’s just a matter of a couple turns on the ball cup.
could you have stripped the paint off the blue BH shell? i was wanting a BH hotshot but wanted to do a red scheme, my plan was to strip the paint.. would that work?
People have stripped paint off shells, but it pretty much ruins the shell. The issue is that paint for polycarbonate chemically adheres to the lexan body. You're better off spending the money and finding the clear shell as I did.

It is certainly a 30+ year old design that we're comparing to today's stuff, but I also still love it.
Looks sick, love the pink
Thank you! I love the really bold color
Looks mint up close!!
A little dusty from the track, but otherwise in great shape!
Looks great, definitely deserves a better motor. With all those gears 😂
Classic 4x4 buggy.
I'm always drawn to 4wd. On road or off... So this was right up my alley!

Whenever there was a cut in the video the audio was VERY LOUD and then got quiet and then on the next cut it GOT LOUD and then quiet again
