    I actually hope they never return to Tamiya ESC’s. The Hobbywing/Carson is a much better value. I know the Tamiya can run brushless but they don’t have lipo cutoff which is silly.

    • @craigpimlott204
      @craigpimlott204 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep tamiya ones suck no lipo cut off on the tble 02 and the tble 04 is just junk .every one I’ve had ,which is about 4 of them ,would never go back into brushed mode after it had been put into brushless if you wanted to run brushed in certain rigs .my sand scorcher I got a Xmas has the Carson dragster esc in it it works great …

    Decided to buy a Vintage Tamiya Hotshot 2 instead of the Blockhead about a month ago off EBay.Does need a lot of work.Plastic parts like the chassis,roll cage,arms,gearbox cases are available on EBay.A lot of people would of liked Tamiya to ReRe the original.

  • @hunterzero2634
    @hunterzero2634 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Note the gearbox halves on the re-release Hot Shot cars have a difference to the vintage ones. The recesses for the output drive bearings are deeper, as the gearbox joints are secured with thicker E clips on the newer cars rather than the thin C clip. If you use rere plastics on an original then the diffs won't be held together unless you use shims.

    The design never ages! It looked perfectly modern retro back in the 80's & it still looks modern retro now. The fantastic memories just keep on coming. They still feel as expensive now as they did originally too! But disposable income is a little higher now than when I was at school...... You definitely buy a Tamiya with your heart, not your head!

    You know you can use the TT02 shaft & the Hotshot propeller joints.!! You can use these on your Boomerang as well.!!

    Rere Hotshot uses the original Hotshot 2 top chassis and the Hotshot roll cage is the same on the Hotshot II the only parts that are a real problem is the red shocks as the colour is unique to the Hotshot and not the same as the Super Sabre red, the front hubs were also a different design on the Hotshot II but they might of been used on rere Hotshot or Super Sabre, that's something to check.
    Hope this helps Gavin.

    Should be able to use the rere Hotshot 2007 for the top deck, roll cage, red parts and wheels. So should be OK to covert to a std Hotshot but would much prefer Tamiya just to release it and I envisage they will towards Christmas I bet!! Also I hear the Falcon is coming this year way hay!!

  • @leehurst6922
    @leehurst6922 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really easy to covert. Take re re hotshot, change rear and front end to boomerang and paint any blue parts red, use re re hotshot sway bar, use new blockhead underguard, source red shocks or rit dye yellow dampers. Re re hotshot wheels. Repro.body from penguin. Job done

    Hi gavin, Blockhead motors actually have an official website they sell motor stickers in diffrent colours if you wanted one for the wild one, also do loads of of Blockhead themed stuff might be worth a look

  • @schuttrostig5729
    @schuttrostig5729 ปีที่แล้ว

    Verry good, i was hoping for that detailed look inside. Good they upgraded the propshaft, verry nice! The seperate driver is surely a material which is easier to paint than the driver molded in the original chassis, so overall some good changes eaven if they change the look.

  • @russelljamesgrant7689
    @russelljamesgrant7689 ปีที่แล้ว

    And I believe by looking that the super hotshot cage is also the same as the hs2👍

  • @steved4738
    @steved4738 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hotshot rear uprights won’t fit the HS2. The hotshot ones are straight as the gaps in top and bottom wishbone are in line. Boomerang/bigwig rear wishbones are used on the HS2 and gaps are not in line so uprights are different and offset top to bottom. If you want red rear uprights for the blockhead you can only use super sabre or og HS2 ones. Bigwig and boomerang are same in blue

  • @russelljamesgrant7689
    @russelljamesgrant7689 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gav, super hotshot chassis is the same as hs2
    Driv3shafts are the same as boomerang..as are the wheels👍
    The hard part is the Red cva's🤔

    Brake fluid would make short work of taking the paint off the body if you wanted a colour change…It doesn’t damage the polycarbonate plastic

  • @robertward5047

    The thing I like about this is that my first RC car ever was a Nikko panther and this version of the hotshot looks like a Nikko panther on steroids or maybe a Nikko panther for the more serious enthusiast. Either way it gives me nostalgic feelings which for once are nothing to to with tamiya

    Aren't most of the differing parts you mention available from the super hotshot rere ? I would have thought quite easy to make it very very close to an original hotshot2 apart from body and red shocks (if using parts from a doner super hotshot)

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rims from the Boomer. Red parts from the HotShot rere as well as the top chassis and roll cage. Body from Team Blue Grove and decals from MCI. This will get you close but it will cost you. If you want to get closer, the prop shaft from the HS as well and hunt around for some vintage driveshafts.

Undertray is same as original hotshot 2. Top deck looks different. HS2 Thassos and top deck is exactly the same as re re HS

  • @coolcycles
    @coolcycles ปีที่แล้ว

    Why fake an old one?
    Okey, okey, they even make fake repro resistors and then change direction with all the little upgrades. I would screw on a lot of tiny plastic turtles, before using those. Tamiya, capable of making very detailed plastic models and doing kind of scale RC cars, very often bodge them by using wrongly brightly colored plastic parts on their chassis, so that they instead get the famous toy look, - what they are not! LOL.
    In general. I like the changes they have made. And to have a kind of finished body to get started is a treat. (The iMac came in Bondi Blue first, before all the other colors of the rainbow 8)) I would buy one or two more clear bodies and drivers, to get creative.
    'We' want to see your race training, tuning and improving, alter Stubenhocker!

    Good video👍 I think your right its probably not viable to change it to a hotshot 2 but if you don't put the metal plates one on the back and the other one on the front underneath what would be the windscreen although the original hotshot cadge is rounded at the back and the blockhead hotshot is more squared off it still fits I've done it the blockhead caged looks too goofy!

  • @roloreoandy9867
    @roloreoandy9867 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why wouldn't Tamiya just re re the Hotshot 2? More than ever Tamiya keeps giving us what we DON'T want rather than what we DO want. Time to say goodbye to Tamiya???? Great video Gavin, I absolutely love how thorough you are and your presentation is brilliant. Cheers!

      I was wondering if it's a sport tuned in disguise? The wiring used is the same as a sport tuned. When you look through the parts listing in the manual, it states that the motor isn't available and gives the part number for the standard silver can. Of course, it could just be a label and the sport tuned wiring to make it look like it's special.
