You would never include Encore when talking about Thousand Trails when comparing it to another package, because Encore resorts are NOT included with Thousand Trails memberships (they are only available as a paid add-on). I don't thin comparing Coast to Coast to Thousand Trails is an apples-to-apples comparison. You would have to have a very specific use case in order for Coast-to-Coast to be a better offering than Thousand Trails. A better comparison would be Coast-to-Coast vs. The Trails Collection or The Trails Collection Plus. But if you want a true apples-to-apples comparison you would need to have a Coast-to-Coast vs RPI (Resort Properties International) video. I think a video that is less 'sales' and more 'nuts-n-bolts reality' of these offerings might be a big winner. For example, when you were going through the reservation system in your examples there was a park with a lot of X's in the date listings. What a lot of people don't realize, before they buy into these reciprocal systems, is that a Coast-to-Coast or RPI park might have, say, 400 sites... but only FOUR (4) of them are available for the $10/night reciprocal program. It could be more... it could be less. I've stayed in a LOT of parks that claimed to be 100% full (for Coast-to-Coast or RPI users)... but when you looked around the park it looked like a ghost town. Even if they have a hundred empty sites they're only going to allow Coast-to-Coast or RPI members into those FOUR sites (or whatever number of sites they've set aside). And also keep in mind that those four sites (or however many) might also be available to OTHER reciprocal programs... like Passport America and other discount programs. And that's just what they have "on paper"... when you look at the reality of human nature (and greed) you'll find that it's near impossible to get any sales representative to give you a sheet of paper that details EXACTLY HOW MANY sites there are available per park towards these programs. This is because they don't want to have a paper trail -- an "audit" if you will. And by that, I mean... the park managers can, at their own discretion, use those "reciprocal sites" for anything they want. Maybe the park is getting full... so they decide they'd rather make a lot of money off those reciprocal sites instead of giving them up for half rate or $10 a night. Many park managers will keep the agreement they made... but many will not, and will simply sell out those sites to higher paying customers and mark them as "not available" in the reciprocal directories. You and I will never know... and Good Sam will likely never know (since they don't know HOW the sites are getting used, they only know if the park says they're available, or not). Also -- with many of these programs that $10 a night has a little asterisk next to it. It could be $10 per night... PLUS "resort fees" -- meaning that some parks can charge a "resort fee" on top of the $10 a night. How much is that? It could be another $10 a night... sometimes another $20. Sometimes there is no additional fee at all. It's kind of up in the air. And don't forget about the "Kid Tax"... especially with Coast-to-Coast parks. If you're just a couple traveling... you're probably not going to notice. But for a family, you might need to pay attention to the fine print. In the terms and conditions of Coast-to-Coast (even on the website, in good-sized type) it clearly states that memberships only allow for UP TO FOUR PEOPLE -- Two Adults and Two Children. If you have guests, or more than two children... expect to PAY, or possibly not even be able to get into the park using your discount (you can always get into the park if you pay retail cash -- funny how that works, isn't it?). RPI doesn't have this limitation, but it does allow for more parks to have "resort fees". In any event -- Thousand Trails, RPI, Coast-to-Coast, The Trails Collection, Ready! Camp! Go!, Passport America, and other programs like these are totally worth it (at least, for us and how we full-time travel with 4 children in a Class A motorcoach) -- so I'm not trying to discourage anyone here, just trying to add some transparency so that someone doesn't get angry when they later find out it's not all roses. :)

  • @TheNorthwoodsRVLife

We purchased a grand fathered 21 day stay membership from a private party for the local affilaite campground and upgraded their membership that inclided Coast to Coast Premiere and allows us 21 days stays at premeire parks during off season, and 14 day stays at deluxe and peak seasons all for FREE! And our park gave us 10 "free" condo stays for upgrading! The condo stays arent completely free, its a $200 fee to transfer the coupon to points for an up to $499 condo. But still, is dirty cheap savings on a nice condo stay for 7 days. This is quite pricey but is a great deal over time for those who camp ALOT it pays for its self in a a few years. And the membership can be sold and transfered or handed down to our childern.

Dumped my TT this yr. noticed a 79 dollar charge was told a maintenance fee. Then 4 mo later after a continual monthly 79 charge was told it was auto renewal. Yet their contract stated they would notify us 45 days prior. They were quoting auto renewal per their contract. Of course they were closed almost a yr. They charged the 79/ month even though they weren't "available" to take campers!! I got so mad between being lied to 1st month, then them quoting contract. I'll never work with TT again!

We have belonged to Coast to Coast membership since 1/17/20. Our home park is Emerald Cove in Earp, CA which is part of the Colorado River Adventures. Our membership has paid for itself twice now. Many of the parks we have paid no fee at all, and some cost anywhere from $2-10/nt and sometimes only charge for 50amp. So happy with Coast2Coast.

@@confabulouscruisers Each Home park has their own costs. We belong to Colorado River Adventures (CRA) which has 9 parks between CA and AZ and costed $9000 and gave 1 year free of Coast to Coast. In honesty, If I knew what I know now, I would have chosen another park that is less expensive. It paid for itself in the first year of being full time. I still have to pay annual fee to CRA of $495 and $500 to Coast2Coast. Since CRA has 9 parks, we picked the park where we learned about it. Our home park is Emerald Cove right on the Colorado River.

I was ready to sign up for a coast to coast membership, but was rudely excused from a membership meeting. The manager giving the presentation was not only rude, but possibly had a mental breakdown. He not only said he wouldn't be disciplined by corporate, but said C to C promotes ppl like him. This is all documented. Yes, I did contact C to C, and they did apologize for our experience. We will NEVER have anything to do with C to C, and yes, we did buy a TT membership. I guess it's all what you experience.

  • @thrivingontheroad7405

We purchased a Coast to Coast Premier membership in July 2019 along with RPI and have used them almost exclusively. Our membership was much more than $1000 but our stays are free in most resorts. We can stay up to 21 days at no charge in the premier resorts. It has paid for itself many times over. Not all the parks are great, there are some that are very tight and not real desirable. We just roll with it. Off season we can stay at the same park unlimited times but if we stay more than a week at a park we have to be out of the coast to coast network for a week. We also have the RPI membership so we will stay at an RPI for a week at 10 a night. The park we are staying at now is a Deluxe and we have been here since March because it is both RPI and Coast to Coast and it is currently their "off season". We stay 2 weeks free than pay 70 for the following week and so on. It is not for everyone but works for us and has saved us a boat load of money. It paid for itself within the first year.

    • @thrivingontheroad7405
      @thrivingontheroad7405 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I will add the site we are currently staying at would have cost us $5250.00 plus electric for the 7 months if we were paying the full rate.

Looks like you can't buy a membership directly, you have to purchase a partner membership and then during that process you have the option of adding on the Coast to Coast membership...that's how I understand it from a first look, is this about right? From the Coast to Coast website, "In order to be eligible for membership in Coast to Coast, you must first become a member of one of our network resorts. Coast memberships are not available to the general public at any cost, but instead are offered to you by one of our participating resorts at the time of your resort membership purchase." So just another hidden cost to be aware of, still looks like the partner parks are nice enough. What's great is it fills in the midwest "hole" that Thousand Trails has...

I belong to coast to coast about 20 + years ago. I rarely found resort close to freeways I was traveling. Also impossible to get a stay in snowbird country . I was just told by KN resorts they wanted 10,000 $ for a membership. I don't trust them

It’s a time share. Why would you try to sell people this?

If I have to pay $1,000 plus just to start it is definitely Not $10 per night! You have to factor the initial cost in.

Susanshaver912 So true ! Funny how salespeople get us to easily look passed those things. 😮

Great to see an (other) alternative to TT. While I plan to boondock/dry camp/moochdock most of the time, this is a good alternative at a good price (once you get past the initial fee). Thanks for sharing Tom!!!

We used my in-laws Coast to Coast membership for a couple of vacations back in the 90s. It was a time-share back then. We stayed in campgrounds in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona. The one in Colorado was the only place (back then) that wasn't crap. Most had just changed hands and were run down from years of disuse. Maybe we hit all the bad ones. Anyway, it looks like some of them are nice now.

Interesting. We will look into this membership. We went full time RV Living almost 2 months ago and are looking for another membership since like you said, Thousand Trails mostly covers the coasts, but nothing much further inland. We currently have Thousand Trails and Harvest Host memberships. Thanks for the heads up!

We stay at national forest campgrounds with a access pass we pay usually $10 a night and some BLM sites can be as little as $1 a night. Some are free. We are in a free site now. We never need hookups .

Getting pretty hard to do that. They're buying up all kind of stuff RV related, including RV Parks.

My family has had C2C since the 90s. They used to have a big book full of campgrounds all over the US. We’d go from FL to CA to Maine for vacations. I remember one resort in KS had a roller skating rink! They have horseback riding at some resorts too.

In the early 90s we had a CC membership that came with our K/M membership. They were $1 a night then and you were limited to the number of nights and day of week. We cancelled them.
