Poacher is a role I enjoyed a lot maybe around FM 2013 or something, but as the time passed it became a less popular role in modern football IRL, hence I think it got somewhat nerfed. Whenever I feel like using a Poacher, as the player has the suitable attributes, they end up doing not so great, whereas if I make them play as advanced forwards they score like crazy. I’m gonna try this though.
I like the idea of the striker hanging on the defender and breaking away as the ball is played over the top, or thread through with pace and smashing the ball in. The inside forward on the left and inverted winger on the right seem to draw defenders away creating space to allow the striker to do that. I've had success at all the clubs I've managed on FM23 using this one.
On my Wrexham save I got this 5 star potential striker with 17 finishing at 15 years old, and he operates best at a poacher. Now he is 16 with 18 finishing, I can’t wait to see how many goals he can bag with this tactic in the championship

I'm still using this tactic in the Prem with Man United and getting loads of goals with Sesko.

I've done this with Hungerford Town, invincible season and I think mezzala is the best in the team, especially with arriving in box late trait
