  • Visualize Solomon's temple in all its glory in this amazing 3D animation based on scriptural, archaeological, and historical research. Solomon's temple stood in Jerusalem for almost 400 years, and was the center of worship for all of Israel. Now you can see it and experience this most significant building built to the Lord.

As someone who uses 3D modeling software daily, I am amazed and grateful to whoever created this.
Maybe we can keep our opinions about its accuracy to ourselves and just appreciate the effort that someone, very thoughtfully, put into this.
None of us were there as witnesses. I, for one, am very thankful to this artist for this representation.

This is interesting! At first I was going to add it to my bucket list.
I looked into it a bit more. It's actually scaled up 4x. It does sound like an incredible project, however, I am highly skeptical of the motives. It sounds like it is fueled by pride. The UCKG "church" that built it said they wanted it to be twice the height of the "Christ the Redeemer" statue, sponsored by Catholics. Basically they wanted to "one-up" the Catholics. Not to mention that the UCKG has a pretty ugly history with highly selfish motives. The replica temple is primarily used for worship services where they proselytize the "Prosperity Gospel", telling people that the more they give, the more God will return to them--not Biblical whatsoever.
While they did spend $300M on the project, they withheld from gold plating everything as Solomon did. While this is understandable from an economic standpoint, I still think it understates that this is not a purely "altruistic" project. And they very easily could have cut back the dimensions 4x and spent that money to do an exact replica. I believe with the right intentions, this would be God honoring. But unfortunately, I don't think there were right intentions behind this project.

Because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, we no longer need a temple to worship the Father. He has placed His temple in the hearts of those who believe that Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, the Messiah. Now, we can come boldly before the Father in prayer, making our requests known to Him..........and He will listen to our voice when we pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

God wouldn’t allow a cherub or anyone to sit upon His throne.

The one redeeming feature of this video is that it takes the temple concept out of the cryptic language (not a criticism) of scripture and renders a visual image. As a diligent reader of scripture for many decades, I know it can be difficult to imagine many of the descriptions in the bible, including what the temple may have looked like (not saying this is what it looked like), but the rendering of this concept helps to visualize the size and presents a temple image.
With all the advancements made in CGI over the last several decades, it would be helpful if reputable bible scholars would create quality digital representations of descriptions that are true to scripture.. it would help a lot of people through what can be log jams of mental confusion, and could be a helpful teaching aid. Churches would surely be willing to pay for such materials, which could be used for reaching out to people in their communities who are curious and boost their evangelism efforts.

Look to China's forbidden city. It's all there. See sedan chairs and the emperor thrones. If you know the old testament really well everything will fall into place when you look at Han Chinese onwards in China's history. Mt Sinai is Mt Qin in China . Look up the transliteration and etymology of Chinese names to antiquity. They are Israel tribes and their name meanings as ascribed to them by Jacob. You will also find the forbidden city is the temple and it was due to have its renovation/reconstruction finalized by 2020. The traditions and history of Ancient China from the Han Dynasty (Confucius being Moses) 100% matches that of the old testament of the Bible -the concubines, eunuchs, robes of silk and linen, cunning works of embroidery etc., the hair ornaments (long hair) , the filial piety, the young child emperor's of more recent history. The famines and plagues that killed millions, and yet even with the one child policy, they are still of the sands of the sea, scattered throughout the world. The nations have been serving themselves of them (everything made in China-in sweatshops conditions), and they've just come out of their 99year British agreement. The great wall (hello! So obvious!!). Most importantly, they were known as the heavenly mandated sons of God (God's chosen seed). And, they practised the ritual sacrifices, with franckincense etc. Changang - Canaan, Shinar (China), Chinnereth...Lei Wei (Levi)... It's all there!

They do not decribe what Cherubims looked like in 1 Kings 23-26. They do not say they have a lion's body in those verses. But there is a verse that describes what Cherubim look like.
This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims. Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
      Ezekiel 10:20‭-‬21 KJV
So they should really look like those. You should guess through cultural reference only Biblical. And that is NOT a Biblical representation of a Cherubim. I don't care if you are a scholar who studied all your life. A 5 year old would know this through common sense.

Did you make this digital video? If so, I think it's brillant. You are very talented. I don't agree with everything I see, in particular the Cheubim as winged lions with human heads, but the general depiction is brilliant. I think you have another such video with some slight differences in detail. They are both great approxamations of what Soloman's Temple night indeed have looked like and are both visually stunning.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the videos! I had help on the 3D model, but did create the basic design. It really was a combined effort between several people (mostly myself and one other friend, but others helped with other various parts as well). The model is not intended to be the absolute of the design, just a possible representation to help people better understand what it might have looked like. That said, I am sure there are many errors in comparison to the real thing.

Very impressive, but I have to be a little negative here on several things. 1) 1 Chronicles completes the description of Solomon's Temple given in 1 Kings. In 1 Chronicles, we see the porch section of the temple was 120 cubits high or about 180 feet, which is three times the height of the Temple House itself. It was quite possible the tallest structure in the world at that time. Herod the Great understood this, and made his temple porch 120 cubits high and 100 cubits wide, which was twice the height of the Temple House he built behind it. This also was probably the highest building in the world at that time. What made both temple's extra impressive was the surrounding courts and the platform which supported the courts. Solomon made the platform 600 cubits long and 400 cubits wide with the East side wall going down 600 cubits to the base of the Kidron valley. 1000 years later, Josephus, who was an eye witness and who wrote for the Emperor of Rome who was also an eye witness, said that 450 cubits of the wall was showing above the valley with 150 cubits buried beneath the valley floor which had risen 150 feet due to debris since the time of David. The Temple and Temple mount was still super impressive and had its courts expanded to a square of 600 cubits by 600 cubits by King Herod. The two destructions, 70 AD and 132 AD resulted in every stone being removed to their bedrock foundations. The modern Western wall is 300 feet further to the West than the actual Western wall of the Temple mount. The modern Western wall was part of the lower plaza on the West side Temple Mount. This is why the Modern Western wall covers a mikveh. The actual Western wall would never have covered a mikveh. Plus, in order for the Eastern wall to reach all the way down to the base of the Kidron, valley with a 600 by 600 cubit plaza, the actual Western wall had to be 300 feet more to the East from todays Western wall. 2) The style of the decor followed God's revelation of what it was to look like. Therefore, it would not have been in the style of the Egyptians. Seraphim were angels, not beasts. The seraphim would have looked human. 3) The ark is not that big of a box and the two angels spreading their wings over it would have done so from a space on either side of the ark, from its base all the way up and over so that if a man were sitting on the ark, the wings would go over the man's head with some room to spare. The seraphim angels would not have been situated on top of the lid at all. In addition to this, Solomon had two huge seraphim which had wings which were 5 cubits in length each, covering 20 cubits all together. This measurement shows us that the Temple measurements size, were inside measurements, not counting the walls etc. 4) We do not know if the Temple house roof covered the roof of the Holy of Holies. However, it does not make sense for the Holy of Holies to have its floor raised higher than the Temple house floor for three reasons. a) We are not told this. Plus there is no mention of steps before the Holy of Holies, while the other steps in from of the porch are mentioned. b) The priests could accidentally view the Holy of Holies from gaps at the bottom of the curtain, and c) There would not be sufficient space for the steps to led up to the Holy of Holies. 5) The Holy of Holies probably lines up with the Tomb of Zecharia's which is probably not a tomb but a marker for this purpose. The Dome of the Rock is a mistake for the location of the Temple. Remember, not a single stone was left upon the other and this includes the entire Temple Mount which is also called the Tempe for short. Jesus was not a recognized official priest, so never stepped inside the actual Temple House or the Holy of Holies. He taught from places within the courts and other temple buildings. The Romans remodeled the Temple mount for their own purposes while hiding the original location of the Temple House and the Temple mount. Suliman the Great killed all his wall builders, probably because while the were rebuilding from the "ground" up, they came across the actual foundations of the Temple Mount. He had them killed to keep them from revealing this information. This is why they were given an honorable place of burial next to the current Temple Mount in a cemetery which can still be viewed today. This was the only logical reason to do this treacherous thing to his "beloved" builders while keeping the people from causing an uproar, as they received a prominent burial place. Maybe their secret is buried with them, if they somehow managed to sneak the info in with their deaths.??? 6) The two pillars were placed inside the porch ... not outside of it. I have a lego model of Solomon's Temple and am building the Ezekiel Temple, which dimensions are like a mystery puzzle. Two things about this temple stand out. 1) It has the dimensions of being atom bomb proof. (This is why the walls are 12 feet and 10 feet thick with possibly roofs twice that thick and a 12 foot thick foundation.) 2) The side chambers are 40 feet long and 8 feet wide for each of their interior spaces, at its base. No depiction shows this. This fits neatly into the 200 foot by 200ft Temple structure base using a normal cubit of 18 inches plus 6 inches for the hand span making an Ezekiel cubit 2 feet approximately. This makes the best sense. The temple porch would be 240 feet high if the same proportions were kept the same.

Depending on which account you read. The 1 Kings 6-7 talks of double doors, while the 2 Chronicles 3 version speaks of a veil. My animation skills are not there yet to make a veil (fabric is hard to create), so I decided just to use the doors from 1 Kings. I hope that someday I can make the veil in 3D, but until then, this will have to do.

@Avshalom Chotawm According to 2 Chronicles 3:14 there was a veil or curtain that divided the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. The issue is the 1 Kings 6-7 version does not speak of a veil, which is what I was using as reference for this video. I hope to do another video at some point with a veil, but it is more complex because it is fabric.

Solomon's temple had doors separating the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies. (1 Kings 6:31-32) This temple, though, was destroyed by the Babylonians in 588 BC. It was rebuilt in 515 BC and then restored by Herod in 17 BC. The restored temple was the one standing during Jesus' time on earth, and it contained the curtain that was torn at Jesus' death.

Also, scripture mentions in 1st Kings 8:8 - "And the poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the Holy Place before the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And they are there to this day." This video indicates that the Holy of Holies was entirely enclosed and thus the poles would not be visible.

Those aren't Egyptian gods. It's a clear reference to ancient Semitic throne guardians (aka Cherubim). Look up the Babylonian "Lamassu" for another ancient culture's depiction of Cherubim. The Jews were not existing in a vacuum, and their idea of what these beings looked like was influenced by neighboring cultures. It's very historically accurate, and we have other examples of beings like these described in other Hebrew works.

Keto Lisa not at all. Same in China and Japan, see the research links (although lions don’t exist in Japan, why are they represented at old temples gates, if not for a connection with ancient Israel, it’s a guardian figure not idols). History is history. And god reveals himself progressively in time. This video is based on scientific and archeology research. Read the Apocalypse, you will also find such figures. Nothing « bad » in it. Hebrews used to live in Egypt for so long, they might have influence the one god belief as for Akhenaton reign. Joseph who was exiled in Egypt became the minister of Pharaoh. And used to speak Egyptian dialect.

For anyone questioning what the two statues were in the most Holy of Holies, before making assumptions or casting judgement. I would suggest to read 1 Kings chapter 5 and into chapter 6, you might want to start paying closer attention around verse 15 in chapter 6 and then even closer attention in verse 23 forward in chapter 6. Cherubims - also read in Ezekiel about them as well. I pray this may open your eyes. Now speaking to the look of them I can not attest to this, but according to the Holy Bible, as it is written that's what they are to be. I pray this message may be received with as much humility and meekness as it was delivered with by my hand through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen.

Due to misinterpretations we must consider the figures of cherubs according to the archiological evidence. Cherub is a mythical winged figure, found in the religious cultures of the fertile crescent, having the shape of a bull or lion, and sometimes an eagle, with a human head and wings. As in the Genesis description, the cherubs were placed at the entrance to the garden of Eden, and then appeared at the entrance to the temples and palaces of the fertile crescent civilizations. In this passage from the description of the temple, that is, I Kings 6, 23 to 28, the biblical texts do not describe in detail what the exact shape of the cherubim is, supposing that they already knew the shape of these creatures. Compare with Ezekiel 41: 18-19.
I Kings 6: 23 And within the oracle he made two cherubims of olive tree, each ten cubits high. 24 And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits. 25 And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubims were of one measure and one size. 26 The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub. 27 And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house. 28 And he overlaid the cherubims with gold. - So the video description is very accurate.

I have read and read there, but there is no "cherub sphinx" you mislead these folks, as another reason is "archaeological findings" if you do remember years after the temple at the era of Isaiah there was high places built in Jerusalem for Baal by Jezebel but the bible didn't say the idols was IN the temple of Solomon, the bible says very clear that another kind of "worship" was practiced , the temple was there and another places of worship was created for Baal worshipers it didn't connect with the temple.

Pyemwa you are correct that these do not look the way Cherubim are described in the Bible, however, yes there are two Cherubim that are huge, that have one wing touching the wall, and the other wing touching the second Cherubim's wing, so it sounds like they are side by side (2nd Chron 3) and together these cherubms have a wingspan of 20 cubits (appx 18 inches in a cubit) The two Cherubim that are kneeling and facing each other are the two smaller ones on the Ark.
In this depiction, the Ark is facing the wrong way, it is described as sideways in the Holy of Holies, so that the ends of the poles stick out and can be seen from the Holy Place.
This video has many errors and should be removed. It would be wonderful if the creator of this video would use their talents to make a more accurate depiction.
