I have not received enough opportunity to us my FU Finger, maybe this is exactly what I need to keep its's strength up. Thanks Noob for taking your time to do this.
Official terms and tricky phrases… “The FU finger.” 😂 Loved it.
This is a perfect product for those who already have plenty of button keybinds and only need a throttle to drop in for their setup. Thanks Noob. Happy Belated Birthday.
I really like the idea of streamlined Virpil controls with the same Virpil construction - will watch this space for future developments
its €260 with VAT and shipping to Germany. Not 300....
Just ordered one a week ago, with some control panels and a few other items... I believe it will be worth the wait to get the rest of my virpil stuff... I already have a Constellation Alpha and a WarBRD base.
Me too. They already sent my unit out, its supposed to arrive on Friday.
Looks good! Thanks for the review, N00b! I love when companies give their customers budget minded options.
Thanks for keeping on top of all the innovations and breaking it down in your unique style!
My pleasure!
I wish this had been out a year ago when I bought my CM3. I only use about 3 of the base buttons, and the rest just sit there. I use Voice Attack for most all the things that others would use the base buttons. This could've saved me a lot of money. Oh well. Virpil gear is absolutely great.
Haven't been able to afford anything virpil for years now, so this is a welcome surprise for sure.
Cheers Noobifier and well done Virpil!
Dang. I am the target audience for this. Been casually playing on and off for years using the x-52 pro. Told myself I'd upgrade at a softer price point or when SQ42 releases. Going to be keeping an eye open if they pair this with a similar priced stick/base.
This thing looks pretty sweet for the price. I could never justify the cost of their higher end lineup, but this has me looking into their products again. Great overview as always!
Quite the collection going on there.
I ordered the CDT VMAX Throttle, not because of the price point but because it's exactly what I wanted for Star Citizen, Right to down to the thumbstick placement. All other buttons and switches not being on base just works since most of the Ship functions are in reasonable Keyboard locations as of 3.23
Great stuff. I already preordered it since it was exactly what I’m looking for as a more casual VR player.
subscribed, just excellent review quality
Thank you
Star Citizen, it only cost $45 to play it, what deal I said. Now over $5K later, the joys for the toys you can get for it just keep coming. ;)
😂
I think it's cool to see them diving into cheaper prices without skimping on quality.
Another high quality review. Thank you!
looks great thanks for the review and for helping getting it made
+BrianMP5T *The VIRPILⓇ VPC-202-001 Dual Throttle Assembly has upgraders from LogitechⓇ Gᵀᴹ in mind:* An analog wheel right where it is in the X56; an analog ministick capped by an Inverse Hat, plus two 5-ways (one mini-Castle, one mini-Stadium) and one push the #2 grip inboard; one 5-way (mini-wedge) and one push the #2 grip forward; one push the #2 grip base; one push the #1 grip forward; one analog wheel the #1 grip outboard.
Now all we need is a left handed (or ambidextrous) cadet-grade flight stick (with a "Z" twist axis, so it can be turned into an omni-throttle).
A must have! Great vid brother!
Just to avoid confusion, this throttle does not come with the adjustable mounting baseplate, you have to order that seperate for about $35 , or remove the baseplate it comes with, and drill holes in it
This looks incredible at the price point.
This will probably compete directly with the STECS, would love to see a comparison
The comparison isn’t fair though for VKB because theirs is 100% plastic AFAIK
@@NOOBIFIER1337 I've never had a problem with their build quality but I suppose that's a consideration for some
@@ZyvhurStudios some people value metal
@@NOOBIFIER1337 fair enough o7
Where can we get this mount to connect throttle and a panel together as seen at 5:10 in the video? It isn't anywhere in the Virpil store, but it would be super awesome to have!
I need that desk mount for the cm3 throttle and control panel! 🤩
Awesome, it's even aimed for a Father's Day release period. Smart :)
Many thanks for making this! Very much appreciated. Currently I am an owner of the the CM3 Throttle, like it a lot. One small gripe is the flaps lever: wish it had a center detent ... does the CDT-VMAX flaps lever have a center detent by chance?
That looks convincing.
I always think that there isn enough time to learn so many bindings :D
Do you have any information how the availability wll be?
It’s in preorder now. I believe shipping is 3 weeks
Hi very nice, and i find the ergonomic more interessting than the mongost, but he seems very very big. And simple and good button position. You say its in metal, so not compar to STECS VKB, but finally the handle is in plastic? I have MCGU gf3 VKB, and throttle warthog. In 2 month, i want to upgrade ( despite i have upgrade with mini stick the throttle. Its between vkb stecs and this virpil (229 virpil, and with tva and fdp 300 euros for me, not virpil fault, but tva fault europe lol). hard choice i must take. I have already great metal joystick...
Thanks for this good review again ^^
I would just release the old Warbrd (Without the clutches) as a blue label base.
I just want them to make a yoke and commercial throttle pack since Honeycomb is busted :(
Are the table rails shown at 5:09 part of the CDT-VMAX kit, or going to be launched separately? I'm keen to buy in to some Virpil panels, but really want to avoid the clamp mounts. Got plenty of desk space and those are exactly what I was hoping to find.
I wonder how does it compare to STECS Throttle System by VKB. VKB unfortunately pretty lags behind in product range, anyway, their basic throttle is for me (EU) almost for the same price as this Virpil's pre-purchase one (10-20 Euro difference max. tax included). As VKB stick owner, it is quite a pain in ... stomach to see interesting product - but using completely different breed of control software. (And I already have combo of ThrustMaster, VKB, Saitek with at least TM and VKB having their not-much-user-friendly programming system with vast range of configuration possibilities, going for the 3d one is not the best idea for somebody who hates to constantly re-learn "how to do it")
Hey Noobifier wonderful to see this come to the market. Would it be possible to use it as a left dominant player? I have a HOSAS currently but wouldn't mind a throttle for flying heavier ships! Thanks for the content and be blessed!

Is it wrong that I own a CM3 and yet am kind of thinking about buying this? Yeah, it loses the base buttons. I mostly use those for sim functions anyway, as I'd rather use the buttons in the virtual cockpit for anything that's not on the HOTAS in a real plane. It has a few fewer inputs on the handles, but still more than enough to map all the functions of any modern jet. It has one *more* axis than the CM3, which is an upgrade (especially if you sometimes fly warbirds), and I like that both of the dials on the handles are axis inputs rather than encoders. Losing the finger lifts is the only major downside, because I do actually like those on the CM3.
I also really like having the analog stick in a position where you can operate it with your thumb rather than your index finger, as on the CM3.
If I had the option when buying my CM3, this would've actually been preferable. I don't like how all the extra buttons on the backside of the CM3 interrupt my grip on the throttle.
Haven’t looked at the virpil website in about a year and a half but did they jack the price up by like a $50-$100 on everything, making this new throttle pretty much almost the same price as what the CM3 was? Or am I just terribly remembering the price?

How the mini thumbstick?
I prefer index finger sticks for 6-DOF, but I wonder how they did with this one.
Works well on the thumb and is easy to control
217$ means 240€ plus shipping in Europe. So very close to 300€ for sure, That is pathetic. You might just buy a second hand undistinguishable from new "full" throttle for 200€ from Virpil or Winwing... which I did :D
VAT is not the fault of the company IMO. We don’t pay these taxes in North America, so, the price is exactly as was posted.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 It's part of the price nevertheless and they are from Europe.

Hello
Does anyone know if this product works with glider simulations??
Thanks for your video, are the "detents" the same as those supplied with the CM 3 Throttle or are they different or fewer? Thanks in advance
They do not work the same as there is no lifting locks. They are the same, there are two missing, the ones that need to be lifted over.
I am still waiting on a Virpil yoke.
Madyson Vista
Noob, I Was looking for specs on the website and didn’t see any. Are you able to give the dimensions of the throttle.
Same width as the standard one and about 2/3rd the total length
@@NOOBIFIER1337 thank you so very much for all the content that you do. Have been following you for some time now and look to upgrade from T1600 duel stick. Looking a Virpil vs VKB and you have awesome content.

First still a thing?
Not sure, maybe I am starting to get old. 😂 … second
No it still is for us old guys 😅
You know what I may try it might need u to order it for me when I get cash lol
Awesome 👌. Does that desk bracket come with the device? Didn't see it on the store.
The bottom plate does, the desk is releasing soon as far as I know.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 thanks... always after I ordered 🤣
This is basically their answer to VKB's STECS...
Ok, but like ZERO plastic, so they are not really in the same zone AFAIK.
What do you think of the "all new ergonomic grip design" compared with the CM3?
The layout is possibly better for some who plan to use a mini stick. Both are equally fine.
5:32 which rail is this one? can't find it on their website...
It’s not released yet
@@NOOBIFIER1337 oh ops, no wonder lol
Hi guys, can anyone tell me if CDT-VMAX Throttle is same height as MongoosT50-CM3 Throttle, or higher, or taller ?
It is the same
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Thank you very much !
Still no right-handed variant, sigh.

Why would anyone spend money on expensive flight sticks when the game is now geared for controllers and M&KB?
Fact
what game?
this vs vkb stecs mini?
Well, the VKB one is plastic
@@NOOBIFIER1337 But trains your FU Finger too ;-)
But not gonna lie, the plastic is not really an issue with the Stecs, but the analog flaps are pretty cool and the lack of buttons on the base ... kinda irrelevant. Button Boxes, MFDs, etc plenty of choices there.
I do wonder how well the detents and profiles work, because that is the biggest feature for me on the STECs.
@@NOOBIFIER1337 real pilot sticks are plastic are they not?
@@yeti3566 the grip yes, but I am talking about all of the stuff inside, the mechanical stuff is plastic, but the entire inside of Virpil is all metal.
Vkb is still king when it comes to price, performance, and quality. Just saying
Why was this an April fools joke in the first place? What's supposed to be funny about it? I'm getting old and my eyes are playing on me, but that doesn't look like a concept drawing either, its looks like a product.
Sounds like the only joke here is making people believe this was an April fools joke.
Possibly, but they did release it in April 1… and they posted an LOL post later in the day. Either way I am happy they made it
No love for lefties
Lefty pilots use the same controls... And even right handed pilots switch hands depending on configuration (stick versus yoke for example) or if they're in the left or right seat, and nobody really has an issue with it
@@bird.9346 omg lefty discrimination. lol. The throttle and buttons angles are all designed for the left hand not the right. Try operating hat switches with your pinky.
@@artsolano6762 My point is that there's no reason a lefty needs to use a reversed setup. You're just as capable as a right handed person using the same configuration. I say this as a left handed person
@@bird.9346 if my right was forced to be as capable as my left then I can stop being left handed. I hadn’t thought about that. Thanks.
@@artsolano6762 If you read what I said before it really doesn't matter when it comes to airplanes.
Normal yoke configurations require the left hand for the yoke and the right for throttle, but that's reversed when sitting in the right seat. Going from a yoke to a stick which is normally right hand for the stick and left for the throttle is another one. There's some planes like the SR-22 that have the stick in the left hand.
My point is that both right and left handed real life pilots switch between these configurations without much in the way of issues. They're essentially ambidextrous when it comes to flying airplanes, even though they have dominate hands like everyone else. They're very simple movements that don't require much dexterity.
So why do we need a right handed throttle? If you're playing space sims HOSAS setups work quite well from what I've heard. You could also configure a gladiator to work just like a throttle, but again there isn't really a need
