I still cannot understand how texting and driving that took the life of someone is only considered a traffic violation!!! She faces a whopping 1 year in prison!! What an insult to the life of Ollie and to his family. May he rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with Ollie's family and friends.
@@annebosworth7048 Wait what? That seems so dubious. They still have to PROVE (b.a.r.d) that those SPECIFIC texts we're the ones that DISTRACTED her. And that the homicide took place BECAUSE she was distracted... ☝🏾 That seems extremely hard to prove. I think she's just being charged with texting and driving and not vehicular manslaughter.
Her texts showed she was texting when she hit and killed the victim. She then attemoted to delete that last text and just befire this went to court she pkeaded guilty to the tampering. So killing a child who wasn't doing anything he shouldn't have been, results in a misdemeanor. And a $300 fine? She's a teacher too, aren't teachers supposed to set a bit of an example?
The back half of her closing argument is after the defense’s closing argument so a lot of it is in that video, but there’s still 8 minutes worth of the prosecution’s closing argument missing. CourtTv, what’s up with these edits!
I’m sure people here glance at their phone while driving once in while and in fact one time I literally glanced down at my map heading out and hit a mailbox 🙆🏻♀️ (learned my lesson) but this is ridiculous that she tried to hide her actions and then did not want a plea deal because she hoped they would see this as a lesser charge. That’s just a horribly wrong person.
This is why i always had my kids ride their bikes on the sidewalk v the street ~ look up how many bicycle/motor vehicle accidents there are each year ....
How many people on bicycles hit other people or objects because they too are texting and riding? Texting while operating anything opens the door for potential injuries or death.
@ Shouldn’t matter solely based off the fact she was proven via phone data to be driving while distracted. Meaning she wasn’t paying attention to what was in front of her. Most residential neighborhoods, unless newer, don’t have specific lanes for bikes or pedestrians. Your viewpoint is like saying, even if someone was DUI and killer someone, you need to know if the victim was walking legally before determining if the DUI driver was to blame. 😵💫🤯🤦🏻♂️
This is the first I've heard about this case. I thought that it must be a DUI. But nope. It's just texting. An innocent child still died, though. What a waste. My condolences go out to the family and friends of Ollie. May he RIP.
I'm not sure how they can prove that she was texting at the exact moment he was hit. Did someone catch something I didn't? Btw I never text and drive. Soooo dangerous.
Unfortunately we have all fallen short at times over the years. I was riding my motorcycle 70 mph and a driver fell asleep at the wheel coming towards me from the opposite direction and almost killed me. I survived it and fortunately I can walk. For most people the most dangerous activity is driving on America’s dangerous highways and byways. I’m not making any excuses for anyone but we all know chit happens that could have been prevented. It’s part of life.
I kind of have to agree. But more importantly, It’s not the strongest closing statement. Which is disappointing considering the state proved their case without a reasonable doubt…

@@Genesis38T Who's texting while riding a bicycle? I've never seen that....
Right, was he in middle of street, in the vehicles pathway or in an assigned for pedestrians? That's the deciding factor for me

Most places in Colorado don't have sidewalks or pedestrian/ bike lanes. Bikes and people always have the right of way.

This lady is WAY too sweet to be a prosecutor..!!!! SMH 😂😂😂😂😂

OMG - prosecutor is so boring, repeating the same words, & really talks to slow - 1.5 speed needed
Thanks. I took your advice otherwise Santa would have been and gone.
Go and watch something else then, if you are bored.
