glad she will lose the right to teach children. It's a LAW , if a teacher is convicted of drunk driving that results in a fatality her teaching license has to be revoked due to the severity of the crime and the significant CONCERNS ABOUT HER JUDGMENNT and fitness to be around children
The court tv website already has the closing arguments and verdict up on this trial. Her phone was manually unlocked seconds before the crash and manually locked seconds after the crash. she was definitely on her phone
WHY are they sitting in court?? She should be taking responsibility for her guilt, on her knees begging the family for forgiveness, and should be trying to think of ANYTHING she can do to help them!! Unbelievable.
@mortalclown3812 : If you read my comment, with sufficient comprehension, you would have noted that it's in reference to this woman's lack of morals and regret; not, at all, regarding "American jurisprudence". This (reading comprehension) is something that is very basic to reading itself. 👍🏻💕
@@mortalclown3812 ever heard of a person taking responsibility and accountability for their bad acts? This is a god given right but requires a moral compass.
The reason for revoking her teaching license is due to the severity of the crime and the significant concerns about her judgment and fitness to be around children
44:49 smh. These people are giving this witness I pop quiz?? This was painful to watch. I feel for Ollie's parents. This lady made a choice. It wasn't an accident it wasn't a mistake. She was negligent. Too many people forget when you're driving a motor vehicle it is machinery! Pay attention, be aware, and be vigilant! Driving is for responsible people. Stop being complacent. Driving means driving. Nothing else but driving. Now a 10-year-old is gone because of texting and driving. Ridiculous!
Most states require teachers to report criminal convictions and a DUI causing a fatality would likely trigger an investigation by the relevant teaching credentialing board potentially leading to license suspension or revocation
The defense attorneys questioning “style” is so patronizing and inappropriate. You shouldn’t be saying “thank you” after a witness answers your question the way you wanted. That’s weird and wrong and there’s no way the jury hadn’t been rolling their eyes the whole trialz
She claimed that he was travelling toward her, and then he turned left in front of her car at the last second. but she also claimed that he came out of nowhere. her attorney also claimed that her view was blocked. in general shes claiming that she didn't have enough time to react and prevent the collision, but thats a lot of different stories. Her inability to react seems to have been because her eyes were on her phone. Really tragic for the family, losing their son and now having to sit through the trial. My heart goes out to them.
I why i had the kids ride their bikes on the sidewalk and I was riding behind them on my bicycle ~ kids need adult supervision. I saw a kid on a bicycle get hit by a car and it wasn't the driver's fault.
@@DEBORAH4-ut9szI have sadly seen one too. That’s why some of these people and their comments get under my skin. I seen one saying “ rather she was texting or not she hit and killed a child. She should be in prison for a long time “. This is something that could sadly happen to anyone no matter how good or safe of a driver they are. Some people don’t seem to understand that. I accident that I had witnessed the child literally came from out of nowhere in the road. Right in front of their vehicle. A few kids actually but sadly it was one that ended up being hit and killed. I remember the child’s parents wanted the driver in prison even though it was not their fault and there were multiple witnesses to that. Fortunately the driver was found not guilty.
This guy SUCKS She should not have been on her phone and if she was paying any attention the child would be alive. You think a teacher would know better
I know in my truck (2017 F-150) I can send/receive texts without taking my eyes off the road. The system in my truck which is standard reads the text and allows me to compose via voice a text message. So texting isn't like it used to be where you had to look at your phone to text.
While I agree that some cars can do that, other videos on this trial established that she was using her hands to text, in addition to there being many typos in her text messages, which doesn't line up super well with speech-to-text.
It’s wasn’t a simple accident. She was on her phone, then she attempted to delete evidence. Never hit brakes. Guilty and horrible person for making victim’s family sit thru this trial.

This is a horrible defense. She should have taken the deal with no jail time. Hope she gets the full year and sued for every cent she has after this.
5:37 she WAS responsible for the death of Ollie. 11 seconds isn't 11 minutes. Guilty.

She may have not been texting at that moment, but that doesn't mean she wasn't looking at her phone for a return text.

At least learn basics of American jurisprudence before going full Karen, i.e., everyone has the right to a trial and a defense.

Oh please she is guilty there is zero defense for this tragedy
She could have been typing a text that wasn’t sent too. Defense attorney is horrible.
He is horrible. I hated him instantly. His client deserves jail.
Yeah, its like he has this idea that the phone turns into a pumpkin after the text is sent out. and her phone was manually locked after the collision.
😮 texting or not SHE HIT AND KILLED A CHILD .... go to jail !!
Shes guilty and deserves more than 1 year.

Thank you - there you go - what the hell? is this Attorney on a game show?
Is this questioning going anywhere jeez I get it they did a mock crash scene correct
Why is there a trail going on? Is she claiming she didn’t hit him??

Have they already pulled the data from the car’s computer to see when she first hit the brake pedal? That would be telling I think.
There is another video sounds like she didn’t even hit the brake before hitting him
What’s up with this attorney? Don’t you have to go to law school or can you be a dei even with law?.
Defense is putting up a good argument. Child, adult, or a dog, the facts need to be analyzed without emotion.
GUILTY Justice ⚖️ for Oliver She was on. The. Phone. Guilty you Should Never be on. A Phone 📱 AT. DRIVEING. GUILTY

It was an accident. She was not drinking, impaired or speeding. It was merely an accident. And awful one but it was an accident.
her car data showed she did not brake at all
She was not paying attention to the road or he wouldn't have been killed. She is guilty

You forgot “distracted”
Why we permit the use of phones in cars is perplexing - oh that’s right GDP
