I would never ever fight with my late husbands kids over things their father owned. It is rightfully theirs. A 7 year marriage doesn't supersede a parent child relationship. Ridiculous.

It doesnt show any respect at all towards Robin.. all i see here is Greed of EGO and Greed of Money

I've have known Robin Williams since the 1970s when he was a street performer.
I actually met him a few times.
The first was in Washington Park in Greenwich village in NYC.
He made me laugh so hard I cried.
    I put $2 dollars
(what I could spare at the time)
in his basket and shook his hand, and thanked him for lifting my spirits.
    He actually blushed.
Mork and Mindy just came up on the air.l
(I just dated myself, no cable yet !)
My Farther way a stone faced "S.O.B." and didn't
    laugh at anything.
At the time Atlantic City was upcoming, I took my Dad there to "gamble" but I really took him to see
    Robin...
    I didn't watch Robin...
    My Dad just laughed constantly...
I was just watched my Dad laughing and smiling...
After his standup, I went to Robin and asked if he remembers me...
He did, he remembers the $2 dollars and the park.
I had my a Dad shake his hand...
My Dad NEVER laughed that much and enjoyed
    Mork and Mindy.
    He blushed again.
    A few years later,
    I was living in L.A.
    I caught Robin at the
"Comedy Store" off the Sunset Strip.
He was at the top of his game...
I laughed so hard I fell off my chair...
    Robin recognized me!
I was literally was rolling around in the floor.
    He actually helped me up...
    "He Tom? You ok?"
    Oh yes I said...
"Just please downshift a little, I can't take it"
    I made Robin laugh.
My wife was thrilled to meet him...
He the did his thing for her...
You know how Robin could "unleash" himself on people...
    She couldn't stop laughing...
I had made my wife laugh before, but this was a new level of funny.
She took his hand and begged him to stop, and thanked him profusely.
    He blushed again.
When he left us I cried...
No one will EVER hold a place in our hearts like
Robin, it was an honor to know him.
Some day I will laugh with him again.
There will Never be another Robin.

The late, great Frank Sinatra had a will made out where if anybody challenged what they were left in his will, the person starting trouble would lose everything.

She was his wife. That makes her entitled. The only reason people are making a big deal is because it's his third wife, who wasn't mother to any of his kids. If Robin was still married to his second wife, who was mother of two of his kids, everyone would think she was entitled to everything. Even though his oldest son was from his first marriage, everyone would agree that his 2nd wife, and mother to his two younger kids, would be entitled to everything. Then it would pass to the kids after she died. Like the Tory Spelling story. Her mother was entitled to everything, because she was his wife. Tori would then get everything after she dies, unless she stipulates she doesn't. Kids owe their lives to their parents. That's all. They didn't enter into a marriage contract, which gives each other joint ownership of each other's assets. Robin gave them life, but he's not obligated to give them anything because of it. Other than child support if they are minors.

Think this last wife was a bit of a Golddigger. But he did marry her of his own free will so I would guess she by that alone would give her some standing in all this. This certainly a sad situation that occurs in many families who claim Estate rights.

You're right about the ugly side of people coming out when there's money involved. When my dad died his financial situation was in a shambles. The Siblings who w e r e least involved with him and therefore did not know what was going on with his estate w e r e the ones that accused me of taking Dad's house and his money. He left the house to me in his will. My siblings who accused me of stealing from Dad hurt me a whole lot more than daddy dying. I forgive them because they're ignorant and maybe that's the only way they can deal with that guilt for not having done more for him.

Such a dispute unfortunately should be expected. Make sure your will specifies one beneficiary; then if they predecease you, have another single beneficiary. Leave nothing in question in your will: make every single thing concrete, or set in stone. Then if the person (your wife, eldest or favorite son/daughter) wishes to divide the estate they can. Family disputes over what you've earned: NOW THAT will demonstrate to somebody (maybe you in heaven or hell) what you really meant to your family. RIP Robin; after W.C. Fields (died in 1945), Robin remains my second favorite comedian of all time.

    • @Srhandel

He did make everything concrete, he stated that his jewelry would go to his kids, now the wife is saying that "jewelry does not include his watch collection"....Really, then why are watches sold in jewelry stores....just smh here....
Maybe he should have had all of his personal stuff engraved with serial numbers with a list of who got what, or something. Or done an inventory......
P.S. the night before he died he put his watches in a sock and gave them to a neighbor for "safekeeping"....I find that interesting to say the least. The neighbor gave the watches back to his wife, I believe.......you just never know what was going through his mind....maybe he knew in his heart she was a golddigger. She then left him alone for over 13 hours without bothering to check on him, even though she knew he was depressed from his medical diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.....

    • @DickWhittington1000
      @DickWhittington1000 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, Robin's will is laid in solid stone/concrete. Leave it to a lawyer to find a conniving loophole that doesn't exist. I have a feeling our justice system will put the gold diggers in their place. I can spot a gold digger the moment she says "hi", if she thinks I might have something. If you might have more than a pot to pi...(politically correct) void in; be beware. Watches are classified as jewelry if made to be worn on the wrist or as a locket; pocket watches aren't jewelry last time a certain person tried to pull this same trick in my family in 1964.

And now she contests the will. He and his lawyers should have put a "no contest clause" in the will....Why did he get married again....he obviously could not stand to be alone....he married her on the rebound.

My father passed away 4 months ago today. My step mother, his 4th wife, did not welcome his 3 (adult) children to stay in the home for the funeral services (they live out of town). We were not included in making any of the funeral plans, writing the obituary, and still have not been advised of a reading of the will. We haven’t even been invited to the home to help go through his belongings although we have asked time after time to help and be a part of the process as a family.
When he first got sick about 5 years ago and started losing his memory (he had Alzheimer’s and Dementia), she started controlling our visits because my dad no longer had a mindset to intervene, and we were basically only allowed to the house once a year. No birthdays, no holidays, no Christmas dinners and Only IF invited ... as if we weren’t family.
My sister and I practically had to beg for some of his ashes as she planned to bury them in her backyard ... continuing to control our access to him even after death.
We don’t know what to do, and I’m so very concerned about the heirlooms that have been in my family for generations. I couldn’t care less about money, or whatever they purchased together as a married couple. I just want what should rightfully stay in his blood family.
Don’t know what to do. My dad wouldn’t want a battle and raised me to respect his wife. I accepted her coming into our family, why couldn’t she accept the fact that he already had children.
    Sucks.

He knew his wife didn't love him. He probably also realized his kids didn't really love him either. He already felt like he was a burden with his clinical depression and his gold-digging wife undoubtedly said some very painful and hurtful things to him on a regular basis. From his standpoint, he was absolutely 100% certain that it was impossible for anything to get better, only worse. The wife would divorce him and take most everything he had, the kids would've all gone their separate ways. Who would have been left to help him with his lifelong depression *and* Parkinson's now? Knowing with absolute certainty that things are only going to get worse, and learning how to block-out all the idiots who say otherwise, because you know they're clueless and stupid, and their good intentions only serve to piss you off, often provides the final push for many people. When you're younger, it's different. But when you know your best days are behind you in pretty much every single category that matters, it suddenly becomes "Fuck this, I'm not dealing with this anymore, no thanks, I'm done."

I can see her position though... would you want people going through your home just picking out what they wanted.. shopping just shopping away? The fact that she gave them all the rights to his past and his future earnings is evidence that she's not being unreasonable. That's where the real money is.In time I think she would have given them the personal nicknacks they wanted. These lawyers will make alot of money, and keep them all miserable for a long time. A highly specific Will would have avoided this.
