1. Gandhiji and nehru were given royal treatment by the britishers while house arrest.
But savarkar spent his 11 years in Andaman jail.
There is a huge difference bw house arrest in bungalow and solitary confinement in Kalapani jail.
2. Savarkar just apologized britishers to set him free.
But gandhiji supported britishers during world wars. He also called off non cooperation movement after chowri chaura incident.
3. Savarkar was revolutionary
But Gandhiji believed in non - violence method.
4. Savarkar inspired many revolutionaries like Bhagat singh and subash chandra bose.
But gandhiji opposed them. He even did not attempt to save Bhagat singh.
5. Savarkar opposed both caste and varna system. He Advocated unity among Hindus and shun casteism. He saw Hinduism as a culture.
But gandhiji supported varna system and opposed untouchablity. He saw it as a religion.
6. Savarkar advocated for akhand bharat .
But gandhiji agreed for two nation theory after direct action day.

Subash Chandra Bose & Bhagat Singh were inspired by Veer Savarkar. Both translated work of Savarkars on 1857 & published it.
Dr Ambedkar as Law Minister condemned arrest of Savarkar in Gandhi murder trial. Ambedkar said Savarkar is innocent and being prisoned for political reasons by Nehru.
Shivaji Maharaj apologized to Aurangzeb to get to get out of prison. Once outside jail he attacked Aurangzeb.
Similarly Savarkar also apologized to British to come out of Jail. He was given 2 life sentences, if he didn't apologize he would have spent his entire life in prison which was useless. He already was in Kala pani for 11 years. Mr Gandhi or Nehru was not in Kala pani even for 1 day.

Nehru was arrested along with K Santanam and AT Gidwani on September 22, 1923, for defying an order banning entry into the princely state of Nabha. He was sentenced a jail for 2 years. motilal neharu wrote letter to British. However, not being able to withstand the complexities, Nehru, only after two-weeks signed a bond, never to enter the princely state of Nabha again. Nehru was released from the Nabha jail only after he signed a bond that he would never enter the princely state again.
Kindly check the the book written by Santaram kidwai book "Handcuffed with Neharu". If you still have doubt check Nehru’s autobiography ‘Total Freedom’ which has chapter called ‘A Prelude to Nabha'.
