Well, isn't that the case in real life at the moment anyway? The grid is massively spread out, and if Codies want to make career mode as realistic to life as possible, then they have to include that issue as well. It's a shame, but it's a problem with the sport and not the game.
Yeah I had a feeling that Matt doesn't really know what he wants in this review. At the end he admits he wants to get the real feeling of living a life of F1 driver, but complains about tire wear being too small and the grid being spread out. F1 is like that irl now.

I feel what would be amazing in an F1 game would be , in the career mode you could be in interviews after each race, and depending on the answers you give it would build on you players character, how they celebrate when they win and when they lose. It would be a great addition to the game

Unfortunately I don't think that can be done. I've read that alcohol/tobacco sponsors are not featured in F1 2017 to maintain it's PEGI 3 rating. Once you start incorporating those brands, the game would need to be changed to PEGI 18+ and therefore Codemasters would probably be missing quite some sales. AFAIK the Williams car in F1 2017 doesn't have the Martini logo, but I've also read that they don't even have a red stripe on the livery anymore because that'd remind of Martini anyways.
Also read that the podium celebrations are actually done with rosewater, just like they actually do in Abu Dhabi, once again for the PEGI 3 rating, so for these reasons we probably won't ever see a Shoey on the podium, unless the PEGI rating is bumped up to 18 in the future.

Driver interviews would be sick, you can choose what you say and that effects how other drivers look to you. Press conferences after and before a race would be nice as well.

Kenny Collins in my opinion the Renault and the Williams are the least good looking cars on the grid, the best looking car is the Mercedes! Probably followed by Red Bull and Toro Rosso
Driver transfers, Formula 2/3 added with the option to start as a lower tier racer making your way up, back up/3rd drivers, interviews, testing, upgrades to the car that actually show up visually, build a team mode, and driver stats/personalities.
Well you've gotta think that with all the changes to career mode and the classic cars that they may not have had time to do separate winning animations.
Am ERS system even if it's simple like the fuel air alternate mix switch and you have to change mid race if you run into reliability problems and a more complex fuel management system

It isn't that good. There are still a lot of things missing. A career mode is not just racing and developing. I want the game to be like the FIFA 17 Journey. So you have interviews, social media, your friends, family and also Victims. There is something huge missing between the races. The gameplay and the Developing of the Car ist pretty good. But like I said. Some huge things are still missing, which really doesn't allow you to feel like a real F1 driver.

I just want true manual pit stops (like rFactor or iRacing) and the ability to drive my car back to the pits after a race, and freaking park it in its grid slot after the formation lap. Like Scott said in Bahrain- "you get to do the formation lap but they don't even let you do the fun bit". Basically- more manual control of the car.
I'd like driver personality, not only on the podium but also in driving style. Eg: Magnussen should be aggressive and push you off. The idea of paddock interviews is good.

I 100% agree about the interview part, it was in the game of 2012 I believe and I loved it, after every race you had to do a interview and that really makes you feel more part of the whole circus, hope to see that in f1 2018
I completely agree with the celebrations point. However, at the end of the day, this is a racing game and I would really love to see the drivers have individual racing styles.

If I get F1 2017 the very first thing I’ll do is sign for mclaren-honda, break down on the first lap, delete my save, then sign for Williams.
Do not care about driver personalities and emotions. If you can skip all this stuff I would like that. I just want to set-up and race the cars. It would be nice to be able to sign ad and set colors on cars as contracts run out during career mode as well. Even a class or historic career mode where you race from say 1980 to the present, with all the car and team changes that occurred. For 2018: an option to take the stupid roll bars off the cars (maybe you can, I do not know and do not plan to buy 18 for this reason alone).
Tbh I was expecting a biased review cause you were a part of the beta testing in February / March but I'm glad to see I'm wrong and that's this is an honest review. Great vid!
2:05 the truckfront looks exactly the same like in F1 2011
I'll probably start with Sauber, do a year there, go to Haas, and then once Haas is built up, to Ferrari, even if that's exactly the same as my F1 2016 career. anyways, in terms of immersion it would be interesting if say a Haas driver bought an engine upgrade and it affected all the Ferrari teams
It may be a small thing, but I like the fact that you can carry the number one on your car if you win the championship the previous season, makes the effort worth it :)

So I'm an American who knew NOTHING about F1 going in and I had a lot of fun. It's the best RPG and racing game I've played since Gran Turismo 4
About the driver personalities... I always thought the same way about Kimi. No way he would ever act like he and everyone else does in the games. But its a really minor thing. People obviously play the game for racing.
Would be awesome if codemasters could do F2/F3 categories for the career mode next year. They could use the short version of silverstones and suzuka as circuits, just design simpler looking and slower f1s. They could also allow the driver to become reserve driver for bigger teams or even enter junior driving programs (i.e ferrari, mercedes and more).

Jack Munnelly please stop asking for this. It can never be done do to sponsorship. Alonso's sponsor realy won't be happy if he suddenly gets all of Mercedes sponsors over his image. Please just use your brain for 2 seconds before asking stupid shit

I chose Toro Rosso, as a solid midfield team I dont need to cry out lound on the straights (McLaren) or in corners (Sauber) but I still felt a fair amount of progression with the car over the first season, btw their car looks soooo awesome
Future suggestions to code master would be a more in-depth career more, starting in karting, GP series or even Formula E. Where hitting targets/millstones would allow you to use the reputation and allow for personal sponsors along the way as you fund yourself and move into F1.

The Wheel vs Pad debate will never be over, also, you're on a review copy so the performance of the cars is that of Australia and not GB which is i think what it'll be updated to on launch.
I'll race for Red Bull 'cause it's my favourite team, and it's got a solid margin of improvement in my opinion. Really looking forward to playing it!
I'm racing as Sauber for my career. My plan is to develop the car to the top in 5 seasons or less and win the championship in 6 seasons or less
I know these won't happen due to licensing but if there was no limitations I'd love to have:
F2/GP2
Open Driver market & Progression system (Driver stats, like FIFA player stats)
Interviews! Like 2010/11 but what you say can effect your team or other team(s)
Personal sponsors, fake or real that are placed into the car.
After the first 2/3 season players can add/removed change the order of the calendar
I know there tiny but players name on the driver suits
BPRL Saban might as well make a manager mode....

The problem is after every 4/6 racers Crofty says e.g. "Palmer, Grosjean, Magnussen and Sainz" no one speaks like that. Also, career mode it says, using the same example if you were Magnussen. "Palmer, Grosjean, a Renault driver, and Sainz" in f1 2014, the opening menu had an option of audio name why isn't that here anymore???

I will definitely begin at the lower teams such as Sauber and McLaren. Just to build yourself a long way up to the top teams such as Red Bull, Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes
the individual podium personalities of the drivers would be an awesome thing to include, but I think would be a bit of a tough one (apart from Raikkonen obviously) but maybe playable podums so like Press 'X' to do a shoey etc. but anyway just Ideas

I'm glad they put in the driver's nationality flags on the podium, now just the anthem with the option for some to skip it.
I agree mate, I think F1 or racing games in general should have a crackin story line, like Toca Race Driver 2 on the PS2. Why not have rivals coming in have great cut scenes bringing you deep into the story and the game :-)

I hope they could include a feature so that you can see the tobacco/alcohol sponsorship in all its glory, something like what the NASCAR games did. Maybe with age filtering or something.
I got the demo and currently racing with Renault sport on pad, Sebastian vettel's FP time on 55 difficulty was so hard to beat with the renault XD
Career mode seems more real yet has an issue with the very realistic differences between the teams
For me controllers can have much less input delay and an improvement for Crofty and personality for the drivers and for the team especially toto wolff banging the table

You're right about the R&D. Too complex for the casual gamer. But how real is the Invitational Events/Jonathan? Not. Best piece you've done since you lost the Rage though Matt.
AI's racing should be their main priority. You don't see them blocking the inside line when trying to overtake or diving up the inside. When you figure them out you know exactly what they're going to do.
As a american racing fan i wish our racing games like Nascar games for the past decade has been neglected i wish our games could get as much attention as other franchises
