    I have it ingrained in me to ALWAYS safely eject drives from way back to my Windows days

    Oh really? My spinning drives corrupt all the time if they aren’t ejected properly and what sucks is they’ll put themselves to sleep and then they’ll somehow eject themselves while still plugged in and it kills my drives!! Wish I could afford several 8TB SSDs but that’s just not happening anytime soon.

    I woke up to like 100s of these notifications and I want to delete them all at once.
    how?

      Were you able to find a solution?

    Well it’s your data, and if you’ve never had any data loss or corruption just yanking your drives out, then you’re just lucky. Plenty of people have had come away with corrupted disks, and this video is just irresponsible. The OS gives you warnings for a reason.
    If you’re unable to eject your drive cleanly through Finder for whatever reason, at least invoke the sync command (open Terminal, then type sync) to ensure its buffers are flushed.

    How's that possible? I've never experience unplugging storage devices without corrupting or failure.

    Yes!!! So sick of the way macOS handles ejection of external disks. Arghhhhhhh

    Is there not something to enable this with a shortcut?

      There are methods for suppressing the warning via terminal. Also some utilities that try to make its presence less frequent. But no outright way to remove it via macOS…yet.

    I've used Mac’s for more than 20 years, how is dragging a disk icon to the trash tricky???

    • @JeffBenjam
      @JeffBenjam  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t always work, especially when offloading videos in Final Cut Pro.

    • @SeanTube2099
      @SeanTube2099 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeffBenjam that's because the app doesn't close its access to the disk. The simple answer is to quit the app. Problem solved.

    • @JeffBenjam
      @JeffBenjam  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanTube2099 I completely understand that, but it’s simply not an option to quit the app in a lot of circumstances. Depending on the machine, that can add lots of extra time to editing. It’s much easier to just remove the drive.

      @@JeffBenjam well it's your data, but don't blame OS X when your work gets corrupted.

    • @JeffBenjam
      @JeffBenjam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeanTube2099 agreed, and that’s why I’m suggesting that Apple gives us the option to assume the risk and opt in. I’ve done this for 15+ years and have never had corrupted data. I know there exists the possibility, but I’m willing to assume the risk for the added convenience.

    people should eject correctly. not doing so it's like turning off your car while driving on the HWY.
