    What documents do I need when marrying a Ukrainian citizen in Ukraine?
    If you're a Canadian national and you want to marry a Ukrainian citizen in Ukraine, you'll need the following documents:
    • Your birth certificate if you were born in Canada, or you Citizenship certificate if you weren't;
    • Your passport and ID card, as well as a translation of the information page of your passport into the Ukrainian language by a licenced translation agency and legalized by a licenced Ukrainian notary;
    • A Statement in Lieu of Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage, issued by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Canada in Kiev;
    • A Statutory Declaration on Marital Status, also issued by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Canada in Kiev;
    • A divorce or death certificate, if you were previously married and you got divorced or your spouse died, authenticated by both a Canadian provincial government or the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and the Ukrainian Embassy in Ottawa or Consulate General in Toronto.
