That's just so cool watching an actual "normal" runner on a running channel. Sarah you bring so much motiviation to people like us who can never compare to the "best ones" we usually see in those types of videos. Thanks for that, and big kudos for your PB :)
Well done, the secret to long distance running and keeping it enjoyable is learning how to transfer from running to walking and back again. A very underrated skill, but for us non competitive runners, an essential skill.
Hi Sarah! Congratulations on your new PB! Pace Pro strategies def help a ton :D I also ran a half marathon but by myself on 31st October 21, using pace pro strategy. My previous PB was 1:57:20, but this time I got 1:55:41 on the same course which has an elevation gain of 363m.
I’m just getting back into running, did it in high school, and even ran a few half marathon, and a marathon. Life happened and fell off the wagon. Started watching your training videos in July/August and it inspired me to get back into running! Got my first half marathon with me being back in action this weekend! Thanks for all you do at the Running Channel!
This is cool. I bought my first running watch, a Garmin Forerunner 55, because of your video on following the watch training plan for 30 days. Now I'm going to give this feature a try.
I’ve got my first marathon in 2 months time, training has been such a tough journey but always feeling motivated after watching this channel, so thank you!!
I recently discovered this channel and I must say it is addictive for all the right reasons! I've signed up for my first half marathon in April and your videos always give me lots of motivation to go out and run :) Thank you!
im signed up for my first half in april too. i dont usually run with anyone and this is my fist race ever, so the vibe may be weird, hopefully great though. whats your longest distance? ive done 15km nonstop on flat, or 19km walk/run up in the hills. so curious to see how i go!! good luck with your training
At the tender age of 52, am new to running this year and all of these video have been great encouragement and inspiration. Great job Sarah, always a smile.
Congratulations on getting your PB and forget about haters focus on your goals. Big thanks to the channel for help and motivation you giving me for running. Without you guys i wouldn't make it.
Great effort, running watches do make pb attempts so much easier to keep track of! I remember being fatigued and really struggling to do the basic maths...
Starting to run this year, amazing to see Sarah's journey as someone who's struggling to get that mental game going. Seeing the honesty is a lot of help for me!
It was so interesting to see this function in action and loved hearing all your thoughts during the run! I'm so happy you've successfully completed your half marathon, GO YOU!✨🙌🏻
All these features on watches these days are awesome. I've just got into running for the first time in 12 years, this is my first week outside of Couch to 5K, with an eye to doing an ultra next year.
DID my first ever marathon 2 weeks ago in Lisbon! Amazing experience. Was hoping TO do sub 4. Ended up doing 4:03 . Proud of the accomplishments considering I had just recovered from covid 6 weeks prior. Next step is getting something on my wrist to get better at pacing🔥💪🏿
congrats on the pb even with a fall! i think we've all fallen while trail running, it's like a rite of passage. 😬 i struggle with pacing so this looks like exactly what i need!
Pace pro looks interesting. I'm looking to get a 3:20 PB in my Marathon. Congratulations on getting your PB, I'm sure you'll do even better if you attempt this in a flat road race.
Running my first race on Nov 7th in San Francisco. The Golden Gate Half Marathon, I’m really excited & have been watching The Running Channel for motivation all training!
Very impressed. I watched your marathon playlist and am inspired. Particularly by how you manage to talk to camera through the race. Last time I ran a half, I could barely breathe most of the way round, let alone talk.
So interesting to follow Sarah’s progress over the last few months and over lockdown. Inspiring stuff. I love doing the maths doing a run as it keeps the brain active but to have something on my wrist being able to keep track of it sounds great
I’ve just signed up for my first marathon in April 2002, and your videos really inspire and motivate me! I loved watching your marathon training and this video was great, I’ll just watch these when I start my training for support! :)
I currently haven't got anything in the calendar booked, but did a baseline parkrun this morning with the aim of improving that time over the winter, provided it doesn't become a mud bath!
Great to see and hear "real" thoughts and emotions that we can relate to. Yesterday I ran a full marathon solo because the event was cancelled. 1st half went okay then it all turned to custard! I don't know what failed first, my mind or my body. Barely running at the end, but still finished. Might have gone a bit fast at the start....
Yesterday I ran a full marathon solo. 1st half went okay then it all turned to custard! I don't know what failed first, my mind or my body. Barely running at the end, but still finished. Might have gone a bit fast at the start.... Exactly the same, mate - not just you.
I haven't ran a HM yet in my life as I've just started running. But it's defenitivly a goal of mine for 2022! You inspire me a lot Sarah! Greetings from Germany ;)
Thanks for this comment! I'd been noticing that on strava, fellow MAF runners running far faster WITH walk breaks than without. I've just started experimenting to see if it works for me too, and today will be my 3rd test.
Generally speaking you'd be faster overall if you just did the running sections at a slower pace but continuously. That said, if you go slow enough your form starts to break down, and that actually could be less efficient than walking.
Firstly, well done! Second, thank you for the chance to win. I am just getting back into running. I'm 55 now and this is the third or fourth time in my life I'm returning to this hobby. Maybe this time it'll stick!
I'm signed up for the Disney World Marathon. It will also be my first marathon and my first time to any Disney park. I'm so excited!! 😊😊 Your channel has been the best thing for my training so happy I found y'all!
Really enjoy your content, no sugar coating when you hurt you express it very useful for those of us who think we're the only ones that feel like quitting. Inspirational how you keep going!!! Thanks
Great job, Sarah! I'm currently training for a 5k pb. Running for 4 years now. Started in 2017 with 42 minutes 5k, now aiming for sub 30. After that? 10k goal! Anyway, the Running channel is great to follow. Nice to know that I'm not the only one struggling on a regular basis... Keep it up!
Your continued positive attitude is a massive boost to those who might have lost their mojo, like me. Thanks very much for the push to get up and out amongst it again!
Congratulations Sarah. I recently received a Garmin watch with PacePro integrating navigation with pace adjustments to flats and hills making it easier to race keeping on the literal and figurative course.
Training for my first half marathon and I have a 10k race in a couple of weeks. Having a Garmin watch and using the PacePro feature would be a great upgrade. Way to go Sarah! Thanks for the inspiration.
Great race Sarah, love your enthusiasm. I think pace pro could really help me in my quest for a half pb. I have returned to running after taking 6 years off, found my love of running again. Thanks running channel
Only started running 2 months ago and am running the Glenlivet 10k tomorrow 😱 Sounds like a Garmin watch needs to be added to my wish list. I'm loving The Running Channel - brilliant for training advice and also for motivation and inspiration. Keep up the great work everyone! 👍😁
Set a 1/2 PB by 2 mins two weeks ago, trying to top it again next weekend in Disney World. This channel is great with tips and motivation. Great job and great video, Sarah!
Finished a 2 hour easy run this morning with almost 3 weeks before my first half marathon race! Love watching The Running Channel videos when I’m not out there myself!
Well done Sarah, and TRC. Well. You got me to get a FR55 over my Fenix 5+ and use suggested workouts, which are brilliant, and now I will definitely be checking out the Pace Pro feature as well.
My husband just started running 5 years ago in his 40’s. On his very first run he ran 13 miles just to see how far he could go. He has an incredible story and journey. And then by just watching him he inspired me to run. I have yet to run my first race.
I did my first marathon last weekend at Beachy Head, and I'm in the ballot for London! My running journey started about 3 years ago when I signed up to a half, and I never thought for one second I'd be in the marathon club! Love your videos, full of inspo and motivation 🙌
Loving all the videos, I love trail running through the woods, my roads are so uneven Iv injured myself a few time with my knee & ankle, I run faster on the roads but running for me is getting that runners high through the trees & around the lakes. I currently use my Apple Watch to monitor my runs, Iv run 2 10k races & getting myself ready for my first HM. Thanks for taking the time with theses videos it really is a motivational tool🙏🏻🙏🏻
Well done to you Sarah! I did a half back in August - wasn't a PB, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Thinking about doing the same course next year with proper training!
Congratulations on the PB, especially on a demanding trail like this a great achievement. Love to see you vlogging more trail and ultrarunning challenges. Keep up the pace!
Congrats, Sarah! Running on grass ( and undulations) is tough. I train on undulating terrain all the time since I have no choice, but I try to avoid grass because it simply absorbs energy and gives nothing back. I am aiming to go from a 2:30 HM time to 1:52 by May 2022 so that's a big goal for me. I tend to do well by running negative splits so Pace Pro would help with keeping me on track. My current Garmin watch (Forerunner 45) does not have PacePro, alas, so I'd have to keep my paces written down on my arm and check periodically how I'm going. Anyway, well done Sarah!
Great Job Sarah! I have a Garmin and used Pace Pro to absolutely crush my goals for my last race. Would really love another one to give to my wife who is always jealous of the features I keep raving about.
Congratulations on your PB! My half PB is 1:56:15 and currently I'm saving money for a new garmin watch while preparing to run my first marathon next year. :)
Well done Sara on the PB👏 I think the Pace Pro feature is a really valuable tool to have on hilly courses such as this one when it can calculate your required grade adjusted pace for you.
Congrats on your new record Sarah. I am also training for half marathon runs and my best is 2:16, so a long way to meet yours. I use a Garmin 5 plus which is a great watch but doesn’t have pacepro unfortunately so I look forward to an upgrade. Keep sharing your great videos as they are very inspiring, even for a 52 year old guy like me.
Are you training for a personal best? What races are you signed up to? Let us know in the comments below!
Currently training for 15K!
Training for 10km for end of Jan’22
Just signed up for the Doynton Hard Half (lots of hills, lots of mud) in the UK. Sounds like Sarah might not be keen on that one?!
Doing a 10 mile training plan atm!
Signed up for a 1/2 marathon in December. Probably not a PB, my last 1/2 was more than a decade ago! I'll be happy to complete.
I just ran my first 5K race yesterday and it was amazing!! I was going for a sub 35, but I finished in 29:35 minutes 😁😁
I think your times will continue to go down. Well done!
That's just so cool watching an actual "normal" runner on a running channel. Sarah you bring so much motiviation to people like us who can never compare to the "best ones" we usually see in those types of videos. Thanks for that, and big kudos for your PB :)
I love it when Sarah calls things DISGUSTING makes me smile every time. ❤️😍
Haha, was going to comment this
Good run
Everything just sounds better in English. She should do voice over her voice is so pleasant.
2 DISGUSTINGs in this episode!
Its amazing how Sarah gives such good commentary whilst doing these efforts!
Well done, the secret to long distance running and keeping it enjoyable is learning how to transfer from running to walking and back again. A very underrated skill, but for us non competitive runners, an essential skill.
Great tip, thanks Shaun!
JEFF
Will be running my first ever marathon in 2 weeks!! Been watching Sarah's marathon journey on repeat and it has been so so helpful
Sarah's "let's do this" is going to be my go to motivation phrase at the start of my next races. So simple, yet so powerful💪
Hi Sarah! Congratulations on your new PB! Pace Pro strategies def help a ton :D
I also ran a half marathon but by myself on 31st October 21, using pace pro strategy. My previous PB was 1:57:20, but this time I got 1:55:41 on the same course which has an elevation gain of 363m.
Great job Sarah! You’re a great addition to TRC. I remember when you came out from behind the scenes. It’s been fun watching you reach your goals!

Watches can only do so much; it's your legs that did the running Sarah!🏃
Congratulations on getting your PB and forget about haters focus on your goals. Big thanks to the channel for help and motivation you giving me for running. Without you guys i wouldn't make it.
Great effort, running watches do make pb attempts so much easier to keep track of! I remember being fatigued and really struggling to do the basic maths...
as someone who is trying to run my first marathon watching Sarah’s journey has been SO motivational!!
Starting to run this year, amazing to see Sarah's journey as someone who's struggling to get that mental game going. Seeing the honesty is a lot of help for me!
3:44 of course we are enjoying your pain, we are runners !!! 💪💪
It was so interesting to see this function in action and loved hearing all your thoughts during the run! I'm so happy you've successfully completed your half marathon, GO YOU!✨🙌🏻
I have been running most of my life and just recently considered getting a watch as a tool to help me. Thanks for the videos and keep em coming.
All these features on watches these days are awesome. I've just got into running for the first time in 12 years, this is my first week outside of Couch to 5K, with an eye to doing an ultra next year.
You can do it!! I hope I see updates in the comments as you go through training!
Sarah's positivity is so nice to watch!! I always feel so motivated watching her run!
Once again, Sarah and the running channel team reminding me why I love running!! Will definitely be trying this feature
Sarah: well done and thank you for being such a great coach and inspiration to us all!
20 seconds underneath time 'as close as it gets' until Sarah puts in her sprint finish! Well done on the PB!
congrats on the pb even with a fall! i think we've all fallen while trail running, it's like a rite of passage. 😬
i struggle with pacing so this looks like exactly what i need!
Well done Sarah!! Trail running is no joke...I did lots of trail running when I was younger and these days it just completely takes it out of me!
I love watching Sarah smash her goals, she's so motivating, so motivating in fact I'm now looking at half marathons to race soon. Thanks for the push!
Do it!! Then come back to this comment and update us all!! Half marathons get addictive ASF!! 🤣🔥
Very impressed. I watched your marathon playlist and am inspired. Particularly by how you manage to talk to camera through the race. Last time I ran a half, I could barely breathe most of the way round, let alone talk.
Good job. Falling when trail running is inevitable to happen at least once. You got a badge of honor. Training for a 50k currently.
I really appreciate your honest commentary. Also, love that you fell down, got back up, and still smashed your pb!
So interesting to follow Sarah’s progress over the last few months and over lockdown. Inspiring stuff. I love doing the maths doing a run as it keeps the brain active but to have something on my wrist being able to keep track of it sounds great

Your relentless positivity is an inspiration Sarah! Thanks for the smiles xx
"I was like 'Ooh, a trail half marathon. That sounds fun...' No! No!" - LOL Great job, Sarah :)
I haven't ran a HM yet in my life as I've just started running. But it's defenitivly a goal of mine for 2022!
You inspire me a lot Sarah!
Greetings from Germany ;)
Love seeing all the beautiful trails in the UK! You smashed this, Sarah!!
Walking is underrated. When I run 4 minutes and walk 30 seconds I run at faster pace overall than if I ran continuously.
Thanks for this comment! I'd been noticing that on strava, fellow MAF runners running far faster WITH walk breaks than without. I've just started experimenting to see if it works for me too, and today will be my 3rd test.

I'm signed up for the Disney World Marathon. It will also be my first marathon and my first time to any Disney park. I'm so excited!! 😊😊 Your channel has been the best thing for my training so happy I found y'all!
Well done Sarah! Trails are naturally slower than roads so to PB while running on trails and talking into a camera is brilliant!!
Really enjoy your content, no sugar coating when you hurt you express it very useful for those of us who think we're the only ones that feel like quitting.
Inspirational how you keep going!!!
Thanks

Just happened to see this video after a solid day of looking at Garmins online. Nice to see that the features actually work! Congrats on the PB
I love the fact that you're so real and honest! I'm always motivated and inspired by your videos. Beginner runner st 50y here.
Training for my first half marathon and I have a 10k race in a couple of weeks.

Way to go Sarah! Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad to hear you've found the video useful.
I am always amazed with everything the Garmin watches do. Thanks for these videos.

Sarah, I love watching your videos. I've learnt a lot from you. Well done on your PB.
Sarah, you are doing great ... I love your honesty through it all!
Love the effort Sarah put in. I laughed when she saw the happy people and said I am not one of those people. Keep it up.
Only started running 2 months ago and am running the Glenlivet 10k tomorrow 😱 Sounds like a Garmin watch needs to be added to my wish list. I'm loving The Running Channel - brilliant for training advice and also for motivation and inspiration. Keep up the great work everyone! 👍😁
Brilliant to have watch do your pacing. Well done, Sarah!
Set a 1/2 PB by 2 mins two weeks ago, trying to top it again next weekend in Disney World. This channel is great with tips and motivation. Great job and great video, Sarah!

Wow!! That is such a sweet feature. I totally didn’t believe it would work, nice job Sarah!
Congrats on the PR. It’s always fun to ring that bell. Watch pacing is so valuable especially when there isn’t a support network.
You are very inspirational, down to earth, great communicator, thanks so much for sharing with us!
Sarah you are a natural when it comes to vlogging your runs! I really enjoy watching your content. Keep it up
Congrats Sarah. At nearly 60 yrs old, I think PBs are unfortunately a thing of the past for me but I try every time I’m out there.
My husband just started running 5 years ago in his 40’s. On his very first run he ran 13 miles just to see how far he could go. He has an incredible story and journey. And then by just watching him he inspired me to run. I have yet to run my first race.
I really enjoy seeing you take every challenge with a smile on your face and a positive attitude. Keep it up sarah
I improved my hm best by 14min last week, so fort next year, in want to beat that time by 10min. You guys keep me motivated! Thank you 😁
I did my first marathon last weekend at Beachy Head, and I'm in the ballot for London! My running journey started about 3 years ago when I signed up to a half, and I never thought for one second I'd be in the marathon club! Love your videos, full of inspo and motivation 🙌
You totally smashed it Sarah! 😊 Still running a PB with a fall, the hills and the walking: proud!
Well done Sarah! Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
another great vid, so glad this shows what running and attempting a PB really is like. Congrats
Congratulations Sarah what a brilliant race! You did amazing!!
Hope your still celebrating xx
This channel really helps me stay motivated to tackle some new PBs! Sarah has such a great attitude!
Great job Sarah, fell over and still got the PB, on a flatter road race you’ll smash it
Sarah's progress has been awesome to watch, yes, I mean it inspires awe. Great presenter too.
Love your attitude! You really pushed through this run and deserved to get a new personal best! Congratulations Sarah 💖
Savage!! Awesome to watch and well done on the PB, need to get a an upgrade for Pace Pro! Looking forward to a new fenix release from @Garmin!
Well done, Sarah! Training for my first HM as well at the end of the year - will be getting a PB no matter what!
I'm enjoying this video so much! It's very inspiring how you managed to complete your half marathon successfully! Happy for the result🥳
Thanks Glada, please to hear you've enjoyed it.
My favourite channel on TH-cam... Every time I watch it i just want to go a run 🏃😁😁😁... Great work guys keep up the good work
