which garmin watches have pacepro ?? are they the higher end ones price wise ?? and congratulations on your run, yes 5/10k defo a different type of tough to ultra marathons
I've used the Garmin pacing function on my watch twice during a race, but they were trail races. I was way too busy looking at the trails and had no time to check my watch while running. Also, predictor (fitness-based predictor, not my pacing strategy predictor) said I would finish the race in 1:45:00 - but obviously it had no idea of how rough and messed up the trails were, so I finished in 2:22:00 instead :-))
I’ve used it twice. Hit PB each time. Of course i knew the pace that I wanted but it helped to remove mental calculation when doing a race or going for PB.
The pace pro was not very accurate. I finished almost to minutes slower than my watch predicted. In the end I ran 300m more (on my watch). Even with the race screen where you can reset the time based on km marks my time was not completely corrected
Andy is such a patient guy, think he's a good 👍🏽 pace guy ,he stayed out the way and urged only at crucial stages to dig deeper, give the guy some credit 🎉🎉🎉
Agreed! Though I also get Sarah and James.. nothing more frustrating than dying in a race while your personal pacer (in my case usually partner or brother) is running next to you at their easy run pace 😂. Well done, James! Congrats on the new PB.
I used PacePro yesterday to get sub 35 for a 4 Mile race and I got exactly what I asked for and crossed the finish line in 34.58! A two minute PB for me!
Since starting running in January and building up to 10km’s, the Pace Pro has definitely helped. First 10Km was 59.56 and Saturday’s PB using the pace pro plan was frustratingly close to a sub 50min at 50.29. A very good way to see how the training is paying off. The increments work well in maintaining or getting a move on to stay on pace.
I was introduced to pace pro later on. I was already fairly experienced with 5k time at sub 20 and 10k at 41 mins. Pace pro did nothing at all for me. I was much better off focusing on how I feel. I think it's good for when you're starting out but as soon as you have some experience it'll become redundant.
So proud of James. Amazing job!! I find him to be so inspirational and watching him conquer things outside his comfort zone inspires me to do the same. He was the one who inspired me to start adding ultras to my bucket list. That being said, everyone gives Andy such a hard time and he is such an inspiration himself- not so much because of his race paces but because of his ability and willingness to translate his pro knowledge to the average runner in a way that is helpful, inspiring and not condescending. I love listening to his insights on the podcast and appreciate his presence so much in the trc videos.
Well done, James. Top effort and whilst you thought Andy was annoying, what an honour to be paced by a former world record holder. Running the Nelson half marathon on November 5th. Hoping to PB and go under 1:35 for the first time. Current PB is 1:36:18.
Well done James!!! It was clear for all to see, how hard you pushed in that race. A well deserved new PB…well done! I’ve been looking forward to this video, as I started the Garmin 5k training plan and I’m following what my says to do for workouts. I’m going for a PB of under 22min, with my current PB being 23:36.
@@mattrybacki189 At the end of the training, my watch claimed that I could run a 21:5* (something). So I went all out, pushed so hard that I nearly threw up during my attempt and got ****23:31****- a 5 second PB. Not what Garmin claimed I could run, but a PB is a PB and I’ll take it. 😃 I have just followed the Garmin half marathon training plan….The race race didn’t go well for that one, as I finished 10mins slower than my target and 8mins slower than my PB. The Garmin half marathon training with Greg, didn’t have anywhere near enough long distance runs at target pace and so I feel it did not prepare me for it well enough.
I did the New Forest 10k last year and, while I didn't blow down any trees, it gave me enough confidence to enter for the marathon this year. Talking of the finish: that long straight approach track must be around three-hundred meters! Not too bad at the end of a steady 10k, horrific after a dodgy 42.2k. My heart went out the James. By the way: well done James!
Great video. Love Pace pro, helped me get my PB in 10k under 56 min and my 5k under 26 min. Garmin gives you this depressing beep when your not hitting your paces which motivates more
I really appreciate the honest content from The Running Channel. Not every race is going to go to plan, no matter how well prepared you are, and you guys do a great job of capturing that. Keep up the good work, and well done James! That PB is coming!
Humidity is seriously what kills me when running. I'be been living in the Southern US for a few months now and I've had to almost stop running outside because of it. Finally the humidity is breaking and I'm back on my running game but its the worst. The whole "black spots" in the vision thing is something I know too well and in any situation that's not a race, for me its so not worth pushing through. Kudos to you, James. Wonderful job!
Great job on the run and love the video series. Garmin training plans vs personalized plans...they are very different but an objective study...not sure how you would do that or ever been done. I'm learning that running faster means running slower, for longer, 80/20 training is real, zone 2 is legit, understand threshold, get better shoes, understand fueling, mileage matters, avoid injury by being measured, and much more. That's what garmin can't replicate but a coach can (BTW, I love my garmin)
Great job!! I wasn't sure if that pace feature on my Garmin was anything I'd use or not, but now I know it's a great tool. I'm going to use it on my next race for sure.
I have my pace pro set up for bath half marathon this weekend! My first race! And my "a" goal is 1:51 my "b" goal is under 2 hours and "c" goal is under 2:03 which is my best time for the distance in training. Been running since January and the running channel videos have helped massively!
I've played with my Garmin a little and likely will never follow through with a race program. I like to see all my runs planned out though out the training period. I'm old school and go by my heart rate. I know from running hard what HR I can sustain for the duration of a race and just try and hold that and the time is what it is.
Used pace pro once, summer '22, for a 10k that turned out to be an utter scorcher. Trying to stick to the plan was incredibly hard and I missed the target by a few mins - I did go faster than I would have just running to feel. James did incredibly well - knocking over a minute off the time trial is significant in just 6 weeks given the conditions on the day - picking an all-road autumn/spring 10k would likely see much more favourable conditions!
Tried to use PacePro this weekend but didn't enable course navigation (thinking that it would just turn off the turning prompts) and it removed the ahead/behind information that I really wanted. I was targeting a 1:40 half marathon and managed 1:36:48 though so I'm very happy!
Great work James. This is quite a good improvement compared with your time trial, especially with the more difficult conditions. If I recall, in an earlier video you had mentioned a very ambitious goal of running sub 50, which would have been astonishing given your starting point. I hope you weren't too hung up on that original goal and can fully appreciate how much you have achieved in such a short time.
Brilliant i could feel how hard you were working there James. I'd love to have Andy pace me. I got my10k PB unexpectedly a few weeks after the London marathon, now i want to get a 5k PB this year to complete the whole set but fear that will be the hardest one to break of all!
Congrats - I finished my Garmin Coach Training Plan for a 10k and finished it with a personal race which according to the watch I finished in 48:55 but the app would not give it as I ended to short. So to redeem myself I did a Half on the Saturday and finished with 1:49:10 running 90% at 8:20 (my PacePro setup did not transfer and so I went with a flat PacePro created that morning in the dark. PacePro is fine for the first half of a race but then I am only checking my pace and hope for the best.
Way to go!! But man I'd love the moral support and push along the way. Everyone is different and needs different motivation and encouragement though :) way to goooo crushing that goal
Just did a PB for my Chicago marathon by 20 mins compared to my first one. Now I want to hit under 1:30 for a 15K coming up in three weeks! Good job Andy and James!

For me it's insane that there are people that have a 5 min pace (don't get me started on people that can go below that), when I'm on 8:15 and almost dying by the end. My goal this year is to achieve a 7 min pace. Congratulations, James!!
I'm sure you'll reach your goal. I use an age graded running calculator to see how my times compare with others. You look young, so you obstacle might be experience. It might take time, but you'll get there.
Well done to James for his 10K attempt, I think going through a training block and seeing progress is achievement enough in its own sense. I know it makes sense to have the 10K race being in an actual race, but it would have been also nice to see (or maybe a follow up) to see how James does on the exact same route he did for his baseline, he'd still be able to show off the PacePro and show how you don't need a race environment/crowd/competition to get a new PB.... just a thought (maybe I should work for Garmin and TRC's PR dept!)
Great job James! I finally got my sub 2 hour half marathon pb a couple weeks ago and got my 5k to sub 25. My last two goals is to a sub 15 minute 2 mile and sub 50 minute 10k
I used PacePro successfully for my first half marathon last week. It was a flat course. I am not the fastest runner yet. Planned to beat 2:30 and got 2:27. I set the plan to ~7:07/km. The pace for the first km was around 7:16, for the last 6:55. and followed it through half the race and added pace later. Was a great feeling to overtake the 2:30 pacer 3km before the finish line.
Thank you honestly. Yes it was a great feeling and I plan to add more races down the line, Let me also thank you for the videos. Sounds cheesy, but they are motivating and inspiring. I only started running a year ago and its just great to have good regular content with great presenters @@runningchannel
Great job! The Pace Pro feature always confused me for some reason. Everything makes sense until you’re actually out there and a little off on pacing. From that point, it keeps recalculating and you lose track of where you’re really at.
I think I would actually prefer having Andy pace me. Having someone to cheer me on and encourage me on a race is so helpful to me. But pretty awesome that the watch adjusts if you get off pace.
Congratulations! I am shooting for a PB in a 10k in one week and though I only need to get below 57 by 2 secons, yesterday's cross country 5k race slightly damped my optimism while improving my Garmin's expectations. Sadly, Garmin will be my pacer and not Andy. Truth is that it was a very rolling cross-country yesterday with one very steep slope and I was not too far behind my goal, so maybe it's not too bad. However, while I did put in a lot of base training, harder sessions usually got cancelled by Garmin in view of my tennis training and matches. Tennis appears to interfere a lot with the daily running suggestions by Garmin. I will try another program or build one by hand for next year's race season. The very good news: yesterday's cross was my very first race at 52 (not counting a few parkruns) and despite the cold, humidity, wind and terrain: I loved it!
Awesome and encouraging video. I´m still struggeling if I should comepete in a 5 or 10k race at the end of this year. The goals would be a sub 22 or a sub 52 minute run... This video encouraged me to maybe go All-In and try the 10k race...
@@runningchannelI did it😁 The course was really hard but I still got a 49:21🎉 In early September, I was happy to just complete a 10k run, now I‘m able to run 25k^^ Can‘t wait to see, what 2024 has to offer😊
Just ran one last Sunday, was trying for something in the 54 region as that was what Garmin thought I could do. Ended up with a 55:05 which was a 3 minute PB. Happy with it because it was 27 degrees, had heaps of slower runners in I had to weave around at the start and had a few hills in it so 54 is definitely possible. Garmin daily training for the win.
Great to watch - congrats! Using runna app to try take my 10k down from 49 to 45. Alton towers 10k in a few weeks but given the twisty course not sure whether to go for it on that one! Congrats again
Haven’t done the Alton Towers before and about halfway through the 10 week app, can hold I ok over 5K but over 10k still a bit off, considering attempting a halfway maybe sub 47 min at Alton towers then a time trial before Christmas 😊
Used PacePro in my first marathon and it just drove me crazy. If your GPS is not on spot, especially later in the race, the mile markers and PacePro strategy is completely screwed and you will never know if your on track or not (for your goal time)
I’ve only recently replaced my old Garmin to one with PacePro, and I haven’t had chance to try the feature yet, so I may be wrong but I’ve seen that the Connect IQ data field ‘Race Screen’ lets you correct GPS errors and realign the watch to the measured distance markers by pressing the lap button. Perhaps it also gets PacePro back on track. Race Screen only affects pacing rather than recorded distance, I think. It’s a shame Garmin doesn’t have an inbuilt feature for this.
Just tried PacePro yesterday on a 10K run ahead of a HM and had the same issue. They should really only feed the splits and then go off of measured distance, rather than trying to compare to the course map, which of course is going to be slightly off. My solution was to switch to my usual screen where I have lap pace. Then when PacePro lapped, it would show the new split and I would target that. Annoying. But I did hit a new PB!
Way to go James! Andy, you are what I call a fantastic ✨Emotional Support Running Buddy✨ I am currently training for my A Race, the Black Canyon 100k, on February 10th. Ultimately, I want to get under 17 hours for my third Western States qualifier, but I have a (not so much now since I'm posting it on the internet for everyone to see) quiet goal to PB and run 100k under 15 hours.
Well done - am in training for my first ever 10k race in December I’ve done parkrun in 39m so am hoping for c80m-85m after the next 8 weeks training plan
Well done James (And Andy too for being a great photographer and supporter). I would love PacePro on my watch I think it would really help. I don't think my watch has it though 😢. I've been working really hard the past few weeks to try for my PPPPB (Post Pandemic Parkrun PB) this Saturday at Troon Parkrun. In September I decided that for one year I would stop registering for races longer than 10k so that concentrate on getting an overall Parkrun PB and to also for the first time get under 60 minutes for 10k. 🤞🤞🤞
My 10km PB is almost the same, give or take a few seconds! Well done James, you are the man. I think if you did it again with a target of 53:30 instead of 50:00 or whatever that pace plan was, you would hit it. 4:50/km pace at the start was too fast for you (and me!) and you paid for it. Ps aiming for a 5km PB tomorrow! 🤞
Ah James great work 🎉 I find no matter how much I train, its not my body that gives up at the end and doesn't let me push. Its my brain. Hard to convince it we can keep going when it knows we could walk for a bit 😂
@runningchannel I've just started working on trying less to work on going longer miles and more of adding in intervals/speed and tempo runs. Hopefully this will improve my mental fortitude 🙂
Well done mate! That was a solid effort in the conditions, impressive =] I'm followin TRC 3 x per week 10k plan and it's going well so far, going to do a 10k in Netherlands called the Rondevenen Marathon with my bro in Nov. He's aiming for sub 1 hour (he's running 1-2x per week with the Nike Run app) and I'm hoping to break sub 50 PR, if not 45mins! One can dream...
Congratulations, James! You did a great job coming close to your younger, full-nights-of-sleep self. Do you think that the adaptations the training plan made were useful for you?
Well done!!! That’s awesome and inspiring! I am about the same speed as you! About to do Scottish 10k in 2 weeks after running Loch Ness marathon last Sunday. I am slow and need to work on my speed again! Last year I did this 10k 54.56 so gonna try to beat that. Wish me luck. Ps I have loved watching your races!!! Do more 👍🏻
@@runningchannel yes good although I don’t feel particularly fast at the moment. Will use it as a benchmark for improving my speed over the next few months. I am using all your advice to hopefully get me a 5k pb by 23rd December. 👍🏻 Thanks for all the videos, I am obsessed starting to rewatch some.
I'm Andy, I'm training for a 10k pb. Current pb 66:00. Next race on 12th November at sattahip Thailand. I'm 65 and just returning to running after a 5 year layoff. Thanks for the videos.
Well done James! Would you have run with music if not filming? And if so, do you think it would have helped? I'm going for a PB at the Great South Run on Sunday, mostly because it's the first time running 10 miles :D
I’ve found that sometimes the PacePro doesn’t tell me how far ahead or behind I am on the overall. So I’ve had to also use Virtual Partner. The distance bar in the middle also doesn’t work for the first mile.
Would that be considered a good improvement for 6 weeks of training for someone with your experience? I know that's difficult to answer as the course and conditions were different. But on reflection were you happy with that improvement, or did you expect more?
My 10k PB was set 17 years ago 41:05. I am now aiming for sub 40, just did a 41:33 last week after a 44:36 in Feb. My 5k PB is 19:58 from 18 years ago, just did a 20:00 5 weeks ago. I should break that.
Great video! Just subscrided. I'm fairly new to running and running daily seems a lot. Do you need to run daily? Or is Garmin coach a better choice if I'm planning to run three days in a week?
I have my next 10k 15th Nov. My last official one (& first ever) was in June where I got sub 64 mins. I'm hoping to get around 54.30 this time. Must try pave Pro, haven't used it in that way before. Well done James 👏 you did fantastic, would love to see you try some more shorter runs & see if you'll stick with them or go back to the ultras
I used my pacepro over the weekend. It just told me to run the same split each km. It didn't adjust for the time I lost. About 3 minutes. It should have automatically adjusted future splits to comelnsate, right?
Do share your heart zone image. Your benchmark run was completely in zone 4/5 i want to see how your heart rate reduced with the garmin recommendation as it normally doesnt have any heart rate based race finishes
Hi Andy, I noticed that you were running at a much higher cadence than James, despite the pace being much easier for you. I’ve read that elite and top runners tend to run at a higher cadence, even when at a slower pace. Is this sth that is worth working on for a recreational runner to run faster? I’m usually running at a cadence of 160; i find it tires me out more when i try to increase it to the “supposed” ideal of 180
Do you think James will nab that 10k PB? Have you ever used the PacePro feature on your Garmin watch?

Wonderful job James!!!
He did great didn’t he?!
That’s amazing time wow! You must have been so happy with that!
Should we send him out again….?
Always, don't let him back in 😂
Great job James! I finally got my sub 2 hour half marathon pb a couple weeks ago and got my 5k to sub 25. My last two goals is to a sub 15 minute 2 mile and sub 50 minute 10k
Wow that’s amazing!! You are smashing it 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Nice video! And you did it💪💪
Thanks he did amazingly didn’t he?!
I think having a friend run with, even for some morale support must help, well done to both!
Definitely!! 💪
Well done!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Loved the effort!
He put his heart on his sleeve for it!
Well done James.
I can't wait to get to 10k, I'm currently nursing achilles tendonitus so stuck at slower paces and short runs.
That’s amazing!! You must have been so proud of that. Congratulations from all of us here at TRC 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you honestly. Yes it was a great feeling and I plan to add more races down the line, Let me also thank you for the videos. Sounds cheesy, but they are motivating and inspiring. I only started running a year ago and its just great to have good regular content with great presenters @@runningchannel
Wow, well done James! Amazing achievement, especially in hot humid weather (my least favourite for running in).
Nice work James!! Im currently trying to train for a half marathon PB of an 1:30
What an amazing goal! How is your training going?
Its going really well I'll be competeing in the coming week@@runningchannel
Great job! The Pace Pro feature always confused me for some reason. Everything makes sense until you’re actually out there and a little off on pacing. From that point, it keeps recalculating and you lose track of where you’re really at.
ULTRA JAMES!!!🥇
I think I would actually prefer having Andy pace me. Having someone to cheer me on and encourage me on a race is so helpful to me. But pretty awesome that the watch adjusts if you get off pace.
James really appreciated it he just didn’t want to let Andy know that 😂😂
Well done! You did great!
Nice!
Aiming at a sharp 50' next week. Just set my pace pro in Garmin after watching you! 🤩
Go for it!! Let us know how you get on as we’d love to cheer you on 🙌🏻
@@runningchannelI did it😁 The course was really hard but I still got a 49:21🎉 In early September, I was happy to just complete a 10k run, now I‘m able to run 25k^^ Can‘t wait to see, what 2024 has to offer😊
I've used the Pace pro a few times. I like it, but I think it works better on nice flat pb courses!
Check out the studies on VO2 max and heat. If it was in the teens, you would have been 54 for sure.
The New Forest was very hard, that humidity was energy sapping. Great jobs.
Great to watch - congrats! Using runna app to try take my 10k down from 49 to 45. Alton towers 10k in a few weeks but given the twisty course not sure whether to go for it on that one! Congrats again
Good luck Simon! How are you feeling about it?? Have you run thats 10k before?
Haven’t done the Alton Towers before and about halfway through the 10 week app, can hold I ok over 5K but over 10k still a bit off, considering attempting a halfway maybe sub 47 min at Alton towers then a time trial before Christmas 😊
Used PacePro in my first marathon and it just drove me crazy. If your GPS is not on spot, especially later in the race, the mile markers and PacePro strategy is completely screwed and you will never know if your on track or not (for your goal time)
had that problem to, so no pace pro for me!
Never had these issues but high buildings etc cause these problems
@@brianlaycockso does the PacePro using the back/lap button.
Way to go James! Andy, you are what I call a fantastic ✨Emotional Support Running Buddy✨
I am currently training for my A Race, the Black Canyon 100k, on February 10th. Ultimately, I want to get under 17 hours for my third Western States qualifier, but I have a (not so much now since I'm posting it on the internet for everyone to see) quiet goal to PB and run 100k under 15 hours.
Good luck! That sounds like an amazing race and we're sure you'll smash your time goal 😅
Well done - am in training for my first ever 10k race in December
I’ve done parkrun in 39m so am hoping for c80m-85m after the next 8 weeks training plan
Good luck!! 💪
Good goals, I hope you have a good run
Did a Parkrun today to check my baseline - turns out my PB is now 36.5m 😉
Bravo!
You might not like him on your shoulder, but I bet he helps get you a better time than your watch alone! I’d have Andy all day long 🥇
great job! Try to reminder yourself every km to relax your arms (and fists). It consumes a lot of energy to keep them stiff.
That’s a very smart tip! Definitely will make sure James hears that
Amazing effort, this was a tough weekend for racing! I got myself a new 10km PB in Bournemouth 🥳 Then did the half (do not recommend) very slowly! 😄
Half and the 10k?! 🤯🤯
@@runningchannel yup! 10km at 9am, half at 11am. Then threw myself in the sea 🥴😄
Good luck for the 5k Robin! 😁 Have you got a time goal for it?
Ah James great work 🎉
I find no matter how much I train, its not my body that gives up at the end and doesn't let me push. Its my brain. Hard to convince it we can keep going when it knows we could walk for a bit 😂
Have you tried varying up your training? 😁
What an amazing aim! Let us know how you get on in November we’d love to shout you out 🙌🏻
Great job
I've trained for a sub 20 5k for 18 months now, still no luck. Down to 20:27 though!
Super close!! You’ll get there soon we are sure! Let us know when you do so we can congratulate you 🙌🏻
Poor Andy 😂 He gets so much flak 🤣
Haha he takes it so well though 😂
Congratulations, James! You did a great job coming close to your younger, full-nights-of-sleep self. Do you think that the adaptations the training plan made were useful for you?
Yes the adaptations were very helpful!
I'm going to be with you guys in November, looking forward to meeting you all
Amazing looking forward to it 🙌🏻
Well done!!! Do more 👍🏻
Congratulations! That's an amazing achievement 🎉 How are you feeling about the 10k?
@@runningchannel yes good although I don’t feel particularly fast at the moment. Will use it as a benchmark for improving my speed over the next few months. I am using all your advice to hopefully get me a 5k pb by 23rd December. 👍🏻 Thanks for all the videos, I am obsessed starting to rewatch some.
I'm Andy, I'm training for a 10k pb. Current pb 66:00. Next race on 12th November at sattahip Thailand. I'm 65 and just returning to running after a 5 year layoff.
Thanks for the videos.
Good luck Andy.
@@Jimdaewong16 thank you
Well done James, I have a feeling that if you'd had a longer training block before the race you'd have got even further under your benchmark time.
I am a little late to the video, but I have been training for the "Legs For Literacy" half marathon this Sunday. Hoping to go under 2 hours!!
Training for a PB with you guys! November 11th is the day we aim to run 10K!!!
YESSS 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 what time you going for??
@@runningchannel anything that starts with a 4 but ideally 47 something!
Well done.
Andy, come to Newark and pace me trying to beat my 1 hr 20 10k pb 😂
Love the videos
Well done James! Would you have run with music if not filming? And if so, do you think it would have helped?
I'm going for a PB at the Great South Run on Sunday, mostly because it's the first time running 10 miles :D
He usually runs with music so maybe there’s a video there! Seeing the impact music would have had on his times 🤔
@@runningchannel would be an interesting video. I'm convinced that I run faster when listening to music, as long as it has a suitable bpm
I’ve found that sometimes the PacePro doesn’t tell me how far ahead or behind I am on the overall. So I’ve had to also use Virtual Partner.
The distance bar in the middle also doesn’t work for the first mile.
I love running❤
Félicitations 🎉
I'm training for Gainsborough & Morton 10K in November where I'm hoping to break 50 minutes for the first time
Best of luck!! Let us know how you get on 🙌🏻
Would that be considered a good improvement for 6 weeks of training for someone with your experience?
You definitely don't need to run daily, you can do a 3/4 day week plan
I have my next 10k 15th Nov. My last official one (& first ever) was in June where I got sub 64 mins. I'm hoping to get around 54.30 this time. Must try pave Pro, haven't used it in that way before. Well done James 👏 you did fantastic, would love to see you try some more shorter runs & see if you'll stick with them or go back to the ultras
Good luck!!! How are you feeling about it??
@@runningchannel anxious & excited. It will depend on the day but I think I'll be close 🤞
Trying to break 25 mins for a 5K on Oct 29 after starting the year with my first ever 5K at 37 min+
That’s INCREDIBLE!!! How are you getting on?
@@runningchannel had my first really bad week last week with a lot of training runs being DNF’d. So hoping to reset this week and get back on track
Currently training for my first Half Marathon Race and going for a sub 2h
I used my pacepro over the weekend. It just told me to run the same split each km. It didn't adjust for the time I lost. About 3 minutes. It should have automatically adjusted future splits to comelnsate, right?
Do share your heart zone image. Your benchmark run was completely in zone 4/5 i want to see how your heart rate reduced with the garmin recommendation as it normally doesnt have any heart rate based race finishes
That’s a good idea. We will get it from James and post it 🙌🏻
I’d LOVE to have Andy be my pacer- I’ve never run a race with someone, never mind a pacer, so I’d love a running partner!
Well done 🎉 apologies if already asked but is watch forerunner 965 or 265?
It’s the 965!
Hi Andy, I noticed that you were running at a much higher cadence than James, despite the pace being much easier for you. I’ve read that elite and top runners tend to run at a higher cadence, even when at a slower pace. Is this sth that is worth working on for a recreational runner to run faster? I’m usually running at a cadence of 160; i find it tires me out more when i try to increase it to the “supposed” ideal of 180
I am intrigued… how did you get from 3.40 down vs plan at about 7k to beating plan at 10k? Or did I misunderstand the numbers?
It recalculates as your pacing changes.
What a privilege to have a former Olympian pacing you
He was appreciative off camera!
