I’ll name the only 3 good story tellers on TH-cam (good as in can keep u entertained for hours ) Larry Lawton, Sammy Gravano, Michael Franzese
I worked at FCI Edgefield for 20 years as I was a Counselor. Mr.Lawton was not on my unit but I never had any bad dealings with him. Just last Saturday, my son and I were at a flea market and I heard "hey Mr. Anderson!!! It was a former inmate from FCI Edgefield. He came up and gave me a big bear-hug and thanked me for "caring and being so compassionate while he was in prison. Doing that to me, and front of son meant so much. I gve him a hug, but this time, it was from me.
I served 27 combined years as a Corrections Officer on both the Federal and State levels. This young man is telling like it is. Brutal honesty. Keep up the good work.

I work for a criminal defense attorney and I had always wondered what life was like for our clients who are in prison. I always treated every client with professional respect and I always remained non judgmental to their situation because it was none of my business. I didn't ask any questions.

Hey Larry hope to make it there, if not I got a question id love for ya to answer. Is there ever a scenario in prison where its ok to snitch? For instance, snitching for less time, or to protect your family. Could you try to justify your snitching to other inmates, or is there absolutely no tolerance for it.
@@joe373Snitching occurs all the time in state prison. It's one of the most effective ways for the guards to maintain control of the inmates. You have to remember prison is very political. It's one means which power is maintained.

@34.30 Growing up my father had two things that has stayed with me:
1. Plan something, anything, but you will ALWAYS have an "X" factor.
2. If you have to look over your shoulder while doing something, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

I've only recently discovered your videos. Although I have never been incarcerated, I appreciate the way you speak about your experience and deliver your message. I found myself close to that kind of trouble before. You really paint a picture of what life could be like on the inside if you put yourself there. I appreciate your channel but not everybody is going to have a reputation that will follow them, like yours did to help you through your time. It's a lonely world out there if you don't have friends and you don't carry yourself. Instinctively you have to stand up for yourself.much respect man.

Larry your channel is doing amazing work. You, and your channel, by just making these videos and talking to people really helps to humanize prisoners. Prisoners are so often just talked about like out of sight out of mind objects, and not people who have lives and rights. I think it’s incredible to have a guy like you engaging with the public, fighting for prisoners, and help people keep from becoming a prisoner themself. God bless you and your family Larry.

Prison is for punishment but they need to do it in a better way. It should also be a way of reteaching to reenter society. I watch your videos and I believe that you regret being in prison. It should be better. For others prison is supposed to be punishment

@@sideliness8527 rehab does not work... depends on the crime.... its the non violent criminal yes, but prison isn't always about rehab, sometimes its just about punishment, again it depends on the crime, as a person whose struggled with drugs, jail never stopped me, court forced rehab didn't eithier, just depends, some dude that killed people and eats them? Fuck rehab, toarcher that bastard....
@@joeyjohnson4826 most people in prison are in for Non violent offenses. And it’s been proven over and over that punishment does not work. Look at countries that use prisons for rehabilitation, they are doing much better than the US, with a far lower recidivism rate. It’s literally proven that rehabilitation works.

I find you repeat yourself a lot through many of these, understandably because the details and stories you repeat are very memorable and significant to your life. I don't trust anyone who doesn't have some sort of vice, or people who are sober/straight-edge unless it's court appointed sobriety or you had addiction problems.
These people who never do anything or alter their consciousness in some way are so incredibly strange to me, makes me uncomfortable.

Your videos are so inspirational man. I've unfortunately been in jail a few times for a DUI and other petty infractions (weed) and it SUCKS. Your channel is really informative and cool to watch. I've never done any hard time but the prison docs you see on TV always show it like a zoo or something. You really make it relatable to real life and give me a sense of what I'd do in that situation.

My uncle was a prison gaurd and would transport prisoners to different locations. Which reminds me of a funny moment he had. He was at a McDonald's and a old grandma came over like she wanted to look at them. My uncle tells the lady no they're not puppies but the lady won't leave. He tells a prisoner I'll give u an ice cream if u scare the old lady and the prisoner bangs on the truck scaring the woman. Thought it was a funny story to tell. Larry if u want to reply go ahead. This might be odd to say, but as well as being really informative, there's also a sense of comfort in how you talk - your accent, tone, sense of "no bs", all of that is exactly like how my grandfather used to speak. Obviously you're a younger guy than he was, but it's nice - lost him a few years ago, miss him every day.

Videos like these should be required viewing for people preparing to work in the prison system, social services, parole system etc. It's so important to understand where the individuals you're working with are coming from and dealing with on the daily

My dad and all his brothers went to prison. There all from Czechoslovakia, they went to rikers. My uncle once said “roof over your head, bed to sleep in, 3 square meals a day, it’s like the ritz” gives ya perspective on those crazy Eastern European prisons compared to US.

Hey Larry, My Father did time in Terre Haute Indiana Fed Penn. Your stories remind me so much of him talking to me. I miss him he passed away a few years out of prison. He got sick in prison and he explained that medical was not good. Thanks for your content.

Larry, I have a honest question. Do you ever have nightmares, that wake you up or cause you to lose sleep, due to your videos? I find myself having nightmares about situations that have happened to me and some I have heard. If you do, what are some steps you have to try to mitigate the nightmares you experience? I'm sure there are plenty of ex cons like myself who could benefit GREATLY from this advice. Thanks again for everything you do, and all the positivity you spread!!
