Every video, I write down more than one great tip. In this one, the multiple-copies-of-same-drum-with-different-ADSR and ghost-notes-on-different-midi-track tips are golden. 🙏
Still my favourite channel for production - every single tip here is valid in any electronic music, and most of them can transfer to other, less electronic, genres. Ace work Alice, as usual.
You nailed it. I'm not at all someone who listens to, nor wants to make these styles of music. BUT, I find Alice's vids super valuable, and enjoyable. They are absolutely applicable to other use cases.
Out of the many tutorial driven mixing content on TH-cam, I think you convey the concepts in a very succinct manner. I've seen these concepts on other channels before, but you detail it way better. Thank you
You are a diamond my dear. Just yesterday night I sat and tried to structure my drum tracks like this. Your tips really added to that and gave me new ideas. Love the minimal take! A big thank you!
Don’t know how you do it. Every video I learn something valuable. Still shouting out that you have the most valuable production content on TH-cam, by a mile. 💎
One of the best video i’ve seen so far! Thank you for it. Also, i would really love to see the making of a full track in this format, might be a good idea. I follow you since forever, i really admire you
I'm someone who can't face learning daw software, so I use vcv, and hardware for having fun. These tips videos are great for getting me thinking. So many of the "just do x, y, z in the piano roll or dropdown menu" things get me puzzling out how I would patch that function. This is on top of the quality production tips themselves! Thanks, and please keep doing your thing.
Great stuff! the attention to detail, slight changes with automation make such a difference and you explain it so meticulously. The tips with the sends are great. I often ignore using sends and I don't think I've even considered adding multiple F/X to a single send. Thanks for the lesson!
I am glad to hear you promoting your own performances. Obviously that is sign of credibility as a music educator, but it is also heartening to know that techno-performance culture and techno-internet culture, at least in your case, are not in conflict here. Also I have just discovered you channel and am very impressed and grateful for your work. Thank you
Also: Reverse samples, short tap delays, filter sweeps, compressors for pumping, expanders for chopping and accenting especially when building up to beat 4.
a dark(not bass) spring reverb mixed in barely hearable is the way to go u can manage the tail with a gate.. short is good i use softube and the arturia the right IR's also work i guess its the sproinginess that makes it fit, normal verbs often sound outlandish
Super helpful. I find I give up/get bored as I get sick of listening to my drum loops. I've always tried adding ambience but never got that far. This should help a lot!
The clap/snare in the 2nd chart (explaining rushing/lagging feel) are 4 offbeat hits and not on 2 and 3 as in the audio (and visible MIDI track). Another mismatch seems to be the number of bars per perc type. The workflow diagrams starts with 2 bars for the strong perc. Yet the video presents only a 1 bar strong perc patternn going to 4 bars immediately for the weak perc. But it was a good idea to use a charts in the first place. Very helpful, I'm just nitpicking.
Perfect timing. I just had a mininal song I was working on with a really nice melody on chorus but couldn't for the life of me figure out the other synth part so I will fill the space with more percussion instead. Alice you are amazing!
Thanks for the inspiration. I'm new to music production so this is quite the journey learning all these varying techniques. It's quite overwhelming at times but i often refer back to your channel for inspiration and even just simple things like encouragement. You are like the Andrew Huang of EDM 😂In short you're awesome so keep inspiring me and i'm sure many others.
Nice work. You can add fills, mod the decay time, and introduce elements which are non-repeating to break the 16 bar repetition. Sequencers have a random funtion for most things like timing, velocity and note on which can be interesting as the listener cannot anticipate when the sound will trigger.
Thanks god I fell on your tutorials! The way you present things up are easy to follow and clear to understand and put into practice. Thanks again you're doing a great job! 🙌
Definitly the best feedbacks from personal experiences here, true knowledge and mastering, processed for creative and smart teaching ( i hope my english didnt failed there )
this is beyond good, you're incredible. if you could make a video about the way you use the envelope on the hats that would be great, never seen that before
Fantastic guide. It’s great to have some loose “rules” to tick off when making a new drum groove. Love this information. Thanks again, as always. You may have already covered it sufficiently in this video. Would love to see your guidelines for drum groove variations between song sections, as I know you’ve made videos talking about double top down and triple top down arrangement strategies.
Proceeds to create minimal drums and almost ends up with a full minimal drop :D Just add an horn or whatever impact every 8 bars and done ;) Many great tips in this one. Thanks Alice.
Thanks Alice, this was great. I try to use the the less is more strategy so it can be tricky to not get too repetitive. Some great tips in this video. Would love to see this is a series.
Wow, this is a very informative 12 min video. The application of the infographic roadmap makes the lesson very logical and easier to follow. It is so well assembled, I thought this was an Intro to a Course that was on Offer. Is this part of a course for purchase
Nice I'm going to look at some more of these vids 🙂 Something I like to do when I get to 4bar and 8bar is have something that happens on the 4th group of every 7, or 3rd of every five, where I find it can be really distinct as well, like replace a dominant note or hit in the sequence, 7*8=56 so at that cadence it might only happen 2 or 3 times
There is a lot that need to go on for perfect drums, ad 3 kicks 1 for sub mid and high, (depends on the track) snare, clap and reverse clap, some instruments need to go a bit offbeat. Drums need to be pitched, add correct attack and release. Equalize it, add FX, compress and finally add the right swing.
This was full of perfect tips! Where can I get that 'workflow' colour card you were referring to? Also, which of your courses covers drum design and bassline design? Still the best tutorials on YT Alice!
It would be great to have your process maps in single sheet to print or just to have them always at hand. I like this one and those about sound remaking, believe that there are more of them. Did you thought about releasing something like this?
Hi Alice! Great vid as always, you give all of us a great motivation and will to get better 💪🏼💪🏼may I ask you two quick questions? 1) If you were to give three percentages of how much you actually use Serum, Pigments and V Collection in your tracks, what would they be? (I'm asking because I've noticed you use Serum and Diva a lot and was wondering if you make most of the sounds with these) 2) While producing and mixing do you use any kind of headphone equalizer as MorphIt or Sonarworks? Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
🎧 If you enjoyed the video, please consider subscribing so I can make more of these ☺❤

Would love to come, it´s just an 1 hour ride to Munich from where i live, but unfortunately im busy this weekend🥲
Best music production tips on youtube. Straight to the point without the clickbait.

Really really happy to hear that. Trying my best to keep it to the point and easy to follow. Cheers Lucas! ☺
This is the best drums tutorial I have watched. No hype, just straight talking. Thanks.

Welcome to the Ableton gang! ☺✌
Good luck 🤘
Nice! Do yourself a favor and read the manual :)
One of the best video i’ve seen so far! Thank you for it.

Awww thanks a million AGÜITA DE HIERBA, cheers to you! ❤
I literally did this beat exercise last month in my deep house groove video. glad to see we're on the same page.

you literally changed my brain with your video explaining how to replicate sounds you hear. You're a badass. Love from Florida, USA!!!!!
Now that's a great and helpful tutorial! I always struggle with reverb on all drums. this brings light into that.
Glad it was helpful!

haha cheers Maxime! ☺❤
i love your toturials very technically things thank you
Thanks for this great tutorial. Could you please explain how you created the vocals or vocals like that in general. Vocoded and stuff…
Cheers! That one is actually me saying the word and then using vocoder to make it more robotic. And a bit of distortion and reverb and delay.
hey Alice, love all your videos! Is it possible to share this chart that you show on this video? otherwise where can i find it?
This was full of perfect tips! Where can I get that 'workflow' colour card you were referring to? Also, which of your courses covers drum design and bassline design? Still the best tutorials on YT Alice!
She's back! Best tutorial maker in the game.
The vidéo i need to see !! Magic THX !! ❤
Wow great video! Thanks!!
Just found this channel: great! New sub. Thanks for this great content 😎
Superb! Thank you very much
It would be great to have your process maps in single sheet to print or just to have them always at hand. I like this one and those about sound remaking, believe that there are more of them. Did you thought about releasing something like this?
Great vid! What’s you effect chain on the vox channel?
great info!!
Learning so much. Will soon sub to your Patreon.
Really impressed with the quality of your tutorials + sub
Welcome to our community 😊✌️
Hi Alice! Great vid as always, you give all of us a great motivation and will to get better 💪🏼💪🏼may I ask you two quick questions?
1) If you were to give three percentages of how much you actually use Serum, Pigments and V Collection in your tracks, what would they be? (I'm asking because I've noticed you use Serum and Diva a lot and was wondering if you make most of the sounds with these)
2) While producing and mixing do you use any kind of headphone equalizer as MorphIt or Sonarworks?
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
velocities are very important to feel even sampled drums more alive.
Great vid!! On the pitch variation - can I use the midi notes as a pitch variation as opposed to using midi group?
Sure thing! If you use simpler or sampler, you can just use different notes instead.
Ayee ✌️ what studio monitors and headphones do you actually use ? I've been wondering 🪷🤍🙏✌️
Did you reverb send the Hats and Claps in the last step?
11:25 with so much input! Thanks!
Solid process!
Thanks, my style 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Alice!!!!
