      @@CombatFlyFishing dam ok I was thinking to throw some black beauties and scuds but I'll follow suit and see what I can do. It's only my third time fly fishing but my first day I caught a 16" a 14 and lost something big around 18+ on a brown leech and scud. I want to learn fly fishing so I don't damage the fish since I don't keep them. So from ur video I just park at the res and walk up that east side trail and it takes me to the dam spillway?

      @@puprilla yep. It’s a long hike but it’ll take you in there. I think there’s a trail map posted in the parking lot. Take a photo of it before you head out.

      @@CombatFlyFishing great idea!! Thanks bro I appreciate it! Alot of ppl get to sensitive when it comes to fishing but I do it for fun mostly unless they are stocker's then I'll keep a few for the smoker. Deckers is gold medal tho so I release everything right away, most times they don't even get out of the water I just net em then unhook and drop em back

    I heard that back in the day you could drive down from the upper section and park. Also that they restricted access by car after 9eleven.

      I've fished that area many years before 9/11/01 and although before 911 you were allowed to walk the service road all the way to the river, you were never allowed to drive it. After 911 the Denver Water Board built the hiking route that exists today that bypasses the road. Today the service road is closed to the general public. -Tim

      Just know it’s a 10 mile round trip hike to get into the prime location. I drove out there and everyone failed to mention(had many customers tell me to try this place out+online) I was not prepared for that so I unfortunately didn’t make the trek

    Nice fish! What flies were you using?

    • @CombatFlyFishing
      @CombatFlyFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tiny flies. Mostly midge larva and emerger patterns that day. -Tim
