Some gorgeous scenery and fish. Really cool, but I am sure hard, hike. When that one nice rainbow was fighting it was cool to see all the other fish spooking and moving around in that hole. Nice video!
Man that first hole u fished is where I seen a monster trout just feeding like crazy lol 🤣 I'ma get some blood midges and try again in a few days when the snow melts
Hey man we just happened to stumble across your videos and we are over here at eleven mile canyon when we saw that you had been here, we were looking for some good flys to use
I think any baetis patterns will work well this time of year: Gray RS2s, Chocolate Thunder, Flashback Pheasant Tail, Juju Baetis sizes 20-24. Also, don't give up on the Tricos just yet: Black RS2s, small foam back emergers, and WD-40s. As far as dries go, keep it simple and small. Parachute Adams in sizes 18-22. Good luck out there! -Tim
Although there are days when the dry fly fishing can be good in Cheesman, it's not a great dry fly fishery. Typically, you'll catch more trout nymphing than you will on the top water. I would still come prepared with an assortment of dries if you plan on fishing into the evening hours. The trico hatches should be popping soon. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing tricos are my least favorite hatch. It they’re popping off I’m throwing an articulated streamer, LOL. Ok maybe I’ll try a Griffith gnat for 10 minutes..
I've used spinners all my life here in Colorado (63 years) and have rarely been skunked. I use Mepps #1,2 or 3's in rivers and streams along with Castmasters. Good luck! By the way, ALL fishing in Colorado is great, regardless of your gear!!!
I've meant to fish the canyon every time I visit my brother in Castle Pines, but I come over the mountain and get lured into fishing the lower river instead. How long of a hike is it from the parking lot to the river?
The north end hike is far more sedate than the south trail, which is featured in this video. All the information you need about how arduous the hike is on the south end I cover in this video: th-cam.com/video/y1wqwErCDJw/w-d-xo.html
10:57 maybe one of the best moments of TH-cam fly fishing I’ve ever seen. The amount of cf big trout seen in those few seconds is insane….

Tight Lining MD, thanks. That scene was my favorite of the video. It was amazing to see so many fish get stirred up in that run.
Awesoem video. That first fish was awesome! Spot and stock. I wasn’t sure if you were to high and I’m front of them , nicely done!

Would you say you caught more on dry flies or nymphs here in October? Planning a trip in two weeks!

you da man! I dont know why cheesman canyon bows so pretty but they are....
Do you think there's a lot of trout to catch in colorado for a guy like me with just spinning gear?
You can spin fish any of these rivers. I don’t use spinning gear but I hear a rainbow colored Rapala lure is a good choice. -Tim

I'm pretty sure my arthritic knee wouldn't like that near vertical 800' descent or the return climb. Maybe I should consider the north trail...
The upper trail takes forever to hike 😂 but waaaaay less packed!
I hiked that trail for the first time the other day and gotdam is it tough for a fat boy but it was surreal how quiet it was in there
@@Meller83 bahahaahah hey at least you made it 🤙🏽
Im going up there tomorrow but with a spinning reel, any suggestions?
Not real sure on a type of lure, but Ibsaw a guy do pretty well in there with a rainbow colored Repala once. -Tim
Thanks
yea, get a fly rod.
@@Subaruuu12 okay smartass
@@Sundry303 haha, just saying, you gotta put the big boy pants on sometime.
When are you taking me fishing? lol
We should go! I feel as though I haven’t seen you on the river in years.
😊
